On October 30, 1938, the Mercury Theatre on the Air aired a one-hour radiocast of "War of the Worlds." The radio drama was adapted by Howard Koch from the original novel by H.G. Wells. Actor Orson Wells directed and produced the program, which aired on the CBS radio network.

H.G Wells initially denounced Orsen for the radio broadcast, but when he realized that the radio show was not intended to cause riots, but to entertain. Orsen was forgiven and both got to be good friends. Those who jammed the streets and ran for the hills to escape the martians have forgiven Orsen is another matter.

Orson would probably had a totally different career if he didnt make citizen kane it was a fine film but he made a lot of enemies.
