Hey how about offline co-op for 2 players on this game and change things a little for the new game this way people can play the game offline if they can't play online like some people and no player separation limits like how arc is for offline player, so that players can explore more of the world!
Almost as dramatic and epic as the 2005 movie. You just need to work on the effects of the tripod falling and add screaming crowds of NPCs, both civilians and military.
@@zero-unreal Whoever made it. A War of The Worlds game must take heavy inspiration on the 2005 movie. That movie shows the most dramatic and realistic representation on how modern-day humans would react on an alien invasion.
I love how, in each of these demos, there's always a moment where a character is like: "Oh damn! A tripod is looking for me in the dark. Rather than just quietly move and hide, I'd better take my flashlight out and point it RIGHT AT HIM!!!!"
Absolutely terrifying! The War of the Worlds is a perfect story for a survival horror game, where it isn't about shooting at the aliens but trying to evade their notice entirely. This game feels very true to the spirit of the novel in that regard-the whole concept that our technology is simply no match for them, so we're subjected to being conquered and colonized despite the best efforts of our military forces-while also introducing the modern horror of nuclear weapons. Are nukes effective against the aliens? Maybe-but the cost of using them is itself horrific. And while I was a little skeptical about having a feature allowing you to play as a tripod brain, I think watching it just made the entire concept even scarier. Those death-rays move FAST! It drove home how futile it would be to try to have a standoff like one does in most video games ("If I hide behind this wall and take potshots eventually I'll wear it down"). Fantastic work!

The War Of The Worlds 2005 movie deserves a spin-off movie or series focussing on other people surviving and also see more fighting from the militairy with the tripods. A lot of untold stories during this war.
Damn it's scary as hell if you're the humans. Whats missing are the trails of alien blood on the walls that scatters whenever humans get diluted in air and my advice is that if your the tripod whenever the light comes to the target moving it must have a detection so it isn't hard for the tripod to eliminate quickly the target thus making it hard for players to hide coz once you've been hit with light you've been marked! ❤️
I've been watching this game's progress and it's definitely coming along. This game was due last year, but we can all see why it's been delayed and why it's gonna be a while longer before it's ready. That of course and the legal implications with the tripod designs. The more they put into this game (which is needed, because that's what people want.) the more works needs to be put in to it, to get it right. There are few things that need to be addressed. The people need better textures, so they look like people. The buildings need more detail, so they don't look like something out of a model exhibition. Kinetics look great, but there's still some sliding of the feet along the ground. Obviously you can't have too much going on, or you'll need 2Gb SSD to install it and a super computer, that NASA would envy, to play it. In all, it looks amazing!!
It’s amazing to think the book this game is based upon was written back in the 1890’s. This game has great potential, all it needs is time and budget. 👌
That first minute was so intense, just seeing choppers and jets flying everywhere and watching the tripods falling over left and right actually gave me chills. I see myself dumping hundreds of hours in this game just to soak in all the sights and sounds
At the very least, they should make it so that the tripods don't awkwardly bounce around when they hit the ground, and instead actually smash through any buildings that they fall on (like in the movie)
This game needs a wee bit more money behind it and a wee bit more time. The atmosphere is amazing, the sound is amazing and it does look like something from that franchise but the inside of the houses and the people need work.
I imagine this is set after the events of the movie, since it seems jets are able to take out some tripods. Perhaps a gameplay mechanic can be added where a few players can be soldiers equipped with javelins. That way if they meet up with others they can take out tripods as well.
The shot at 21:30 made me come up with the concept of a game or movie in the blink of an eye, which tells about the continuation of the War of the Worlds. Something similar to Transformers, the Age of Extermination, where after the attack on Chicago in the Dark side of the moon, places with the remnants of the disepticons and their equipment are fenced off, with a complete lack of access for people there. The plot will be on behalf of a 17-year-old teenager and his friends who found one of the destroyed and not yet found and fenced tripods by the government and they managed to get inside, what they will find there and what follows will be a secret) By the way, by design, I would also like to add Crysis 3)))). Even the music is appropriate in this frame. Also, as an example, the second part of the Independence Day movie fits quite well.
Reading the Steam description it looks like it’s basically just one guy making this (with a small team?) Is it crowd funded so can this team can grow? I can’t believe I just stumbled upon a gameplay video today. Glad it wasn’t sooner as the waiting would feel longer.
I hope that this game will be multiplayer, would be so fun to have a server where people have different groups and survive. The groups fight together or against each other. And that people can build bases and raid each other like dayz and rust. That would be so fun and then have those thing roaming around image hearing this outside your base at night.
I do wonder if a tripod shield could absolutely absorb a ballistic rocket like a cruise or tactical rocket, vause even if it could absorb the kinetic explosive it cant prevent the force of being knocked over?
In the Original Video released by the Creator He shows a Nuclear Weapon being used presumably on a tripod while every other tripod in the area pays no mind to it so I doubt it. Also they can walk inside tornado's and not be effected by the wind
I fucking love that somebody else loved this movie enough to make a game out of this... I've loved this movie since I first saw it as a kid when it came out and I've had countless tripod nightmares growing up.... even into adulthood 😂
This looks extremely cool, but you guys REALLY need to change the visual design of the tripods and make them unique and original. At the moment they're pretty blatantly just 1:1 copies of the tripods from the Spielberg movie, and that specific design is definitely owned by Paramount.
I saw the movie in the cinema back in 2005 and i alway wondered why the aliens only used these Goofy tripods and no other weapons. They waited for many centuries under the ground only to be ass whipped by humans in a couple of days.
I have given this developer and game crucial critical constructive criticism, gotten into dumb arguments with the developer because they think they're doing something no developer studio or designer team is even capable of doing which is highly ignorant and we've gotten into some pretty heated discussions over the last several months regarding gameplay and the development process of this game. Particularly the fact it's 90% asset packs and the only thing that truly seems to be something they made themselves is the tripod visually and audio otherwise everything else is something they bought from the Steam asset store. Any whom I keep attempting to give this game credit when I see so called "Gameplay- Demo's" hoping that we will see gameplay right..? Well the issue is we keep seeing the same crap over and over again. "People walking around observing the tripods from various distances.., whether they're emerging, walking or shooting. We never see the player looting, crafting, building, combating other survivors or working with other players, never see destruction as I imagine there should be from something as powerful as a tripod" - Gameplay never changes! The game has potential but right now I feel like it's a glorified tech demo to showcase the visual aesthetic of the mighty Tripods!.
22:00 So... is this a Multiplayer vs single player where Tripod player(s) hunt down a lobby of Survivor Players? If not: still cool..... however.... you might want to consider such a game mode if you haven't already.
The game looks amazing. But i find the world a bit "soulless" or "sandbox". I mean, houses, towns and cities look more like a model than a real place. Maybe that could take me out of the immersion. Anyway, I already know that this is a prealpha but i just wanted to share my opinion. The rest of the game looks awesome, especially the tripods
Damn, a horror survival game I might be interested in playing? Great job by the devs, not really good graphics for today but as long as hardware requirements aren´t crazy all what really matters is: is it fun to play? And it does look like it.
Looks great just one problem, ain’t the tripods have energy shields in the movie? Kind of removes the threat of the aliens if their war machines are dropping like flies
After a day or two of them drinking our water and blood, and using our blood as fertilizer, they got sick and their systems couldn't handle the diseases and viruses we have here resulting in their downfall
As the above comment stated, they did begin getting ill from human bacteria. In the film people were able to figure out shooting rockets under them worked as well.
Im gonna be honest this looks great but I think the lighting needs to be toned down. If you cant see anything during half the encounters because the sun, or the lasers or the tripods lights or even fires near you blind you then your lighting is way over toned. Either way cant wait!

Ik this is going to be a long time before it fully releases which is completely fine but I really hope it gets enough support / popularity to make it to series x/Ps5 csuse I do have a good PC but not to handle a game like this idk

At least Earth's military isn't completely useless against the Tripods like it was in the movie. Although, using an entire squadron of fighters and attack helicopters to take down just one of them seems really costly.
Well in the movie when they were fighting them at full health. The military weren’t really trying to destroy them, but delay them from reaching cities/towns & other settlements where people were at.
If you can interact with everything in the world like cars, enter most of the structures & buildings, swim in water and possibly eating or a bit of survival. I would be very interested in getting lost in this war of worlds
also in addittion it will be insane if u were to make a small scout alien ship scanning it would add so much a ship with probes also that ship will engage with the f 15s and to have the ability to make your own survivor settlement also random seed generation will be insane in world creation
it would be insane being in a house and hearing a strobe rocket powered ship scouting for humans just imagine insanely creppy it would be also it be cool if you were to interact with your voice to the npc to have a litteral conversation while chaos its happening
