In the months following Pearl Harbor, the Imperial Japanese Navy conducted operations at sea, threatening British Royal Navy dominance in the area.
The most dangerous moment of the war, and the one which caused me the greatest alarm, was when the Japanese fleet was heading for Ceylon and the naval base there. The capture of Ceylon, the consequent control of the Indian Ocean, and the possibility at the same time of a German conquest of Egypt would have closed the ring and the future would have been black.

March 31, 1942, Japan had attacked Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, her forces had overrun Hong Kong, Malaya, Singapore, the Dutch East Indies, and Burma. Now the Imperial Japanese Navy and Army were heating up for an assault on India, the jewel in the British imperial crown.

@@SMarie-zk9oj I'm forced to agree with you. Doing in the Convoy was a good outcome but no brilliant one! It would have been better if HMS Enterprise had been heavily damaged with heavy flooding but at least salvageable. I still suspect it was a torpedo that did the damage that caused her to sink. That remaining very badly crippled Fubuki Class Destroyer is still likely to be scuttled. Out of desperation. I suspect those torpedoes were launched from it.

I love that they used real names for the rotation of the random merchant vessels. Terukini Maru for example (the large troop ship) was a real japanese ocean liner that also has been recorded as the only japanese casualty of WW2 prior to it's entry in 1941. Terukini Maru sank on november 21st 1939 after striking a german magnetic mine with no fatalities off Harwich on the Essex coast. her loss caused a triangular diplomatic incident between the UK, Japan and Germany at the time with japan blaming the germans and the british equally for the loss. Due to the ongoing war, Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) was never compensated for the loss by either involved party. And with that, Terukini Maru marks the first out of all but one japanese ocean liners that would not survive the war.

28:03 the explosion occurred in the stern and when it happened the ship immediately lost all propulsion, she also lost a massive amount of efficiency there is also a wrench emblem on the port side which might suggest that was where she was hit, which is right next to the catapults which suggests the explosion was her biplane fuel igniting, which in turn might’ve caused her aft ammunition to also go off, knocking out her engines and coating 70% of the ship in fire probably wiping out any crew on the AA guns, and port & starboard secondary guns, which then had their munitions go off causing a second, but much smaller explosion later on.

@@nucleargandhi3759 I managed to pause right when the explosion occurred and 0.1 seconds before detonation there was a flash where the wrench emblem was, also it probably wasn’t a direct hit on the munitions, but it did ignite the fuel which caused the munitions to go off, the reason for this is because the crew onboard may have been not taking the necessary safety precautions on carrying the munitions in order to fire & reload at a quicker rate, this method is responsible for several of the magazine explosions that occurred at Jutland which would explain why the explosion was so large. The intital explosion came from the biplane fuel igniting, then it set off a chain reaction of the magazines on the deck going off which caused an explosion so massive that it might’ve caused internal explosions of munitions stored inside the ship, which then knocked out the engines and probably killed any engineers or crew mates down there.

Those armed merchant freighters are proportionately powerful compared to surface ships. Their ability to absorb damage doesn't make sense considering they are no different than the regular merchants (which we can see are very easy to sink), just with guns bolted on.

Neither can I, I think it's the compression. There are some lumps, but that's it. I think WP was able see way more before YT did its dirty business with the clips. I've noticed that on the Gunner, HEAT, PC vids as well. WP noticed and attacked tanks that were completely invisible on the YT video.

3 ways for spotting ships in bad conditions: 1) Look for shadows just UNDER the visible horizon. These indicate ships that are between 15-20k yds out. 2) Look for shiny dots just ABOVE the visible horizon. All the flags in WoTS have effectively day-glow colors and shine like flashlights. These indicate ships that are between 11-15k yds out. 3) Look for actual shadows just ABOVE the visible horizon (in addition to #1 and #2). These indicate ships that are between 6-10k yds out. Hope This Helps. (Though - yes, bigger monitors can help 🤪)

Tip: When looking through binoculars using 'follow' mode, you can target click on any ship you can see in the binoculars to switch targetting to that ship. It helps when observing enemy formations from the air.

Game is rigged against the player. It usually is in every game to be a challenge, but it seems much worse in this one. If you want to win in this game, you need subs and aircrafts with torpedoes. Surface battles are complete BS.

Oof… the Fabuki that survived is the one that was leading the formation, too… you sank one, one refused to sink, and the one you sank ended up sinking the third with torpedoes… of your torpedoes, only 1 in 8 seemed to hit, with half of them (the ones hitting vital areas) being duds for 6 hits, 3 duds… Japanese landed two on their own ship, neither were duds. Ironically, the canon for the Type-93s sinking friendly ships by friendly fire is actually matching up, since half the kills made by Long Lance torpedoes in the war were, in fact, friendly fire… with a 100% sink rate.

Also, AI cheated with that magazine explosion - your worship, with at least some armor, no matter how minimal, should have withstood more damage, especially in light of how many hits were scored on completely unarmored merchant ships to put them down. Seems to me the HMS Enterprise incident is a cascade failure of the mods balance. The Japanese AMC Aikiko Maru certainly had the gun power being armed with old 6inch guns. But. AMCs are the definition of glass cannons. It should not have lasted nearly as long as it did, they are just merchant ships after all they don't have the build robustness of a warship. The first mod balance failure is the dud rate on the British torpedoes, waaay to high. The second is that AMC was tanking damage like a heavy cruiser, which they aren't. The result is Enterprise should not have been sunk.

It's hard enough to get torpedo hits without 75% of them being duds. Its incredibly frustrating and makes these videos less enjoyable. Do you have realistic historically accurate torpedo settings on? If so please turn that off because it puts you at a disadvatage while not negatively impacting the Japanese

I would agree. I get that this mod is supposed to be difficult but it just seems really unbalanced. Like how it seems like he can set an entire enemy fleet on fire and they are still almost 100% combat effective.
