Honestly, if I realized this, my response would be to attempt to speed away, but then again, missiles make that dangerous and I am thinking of the prop plane meda cause I don't grind this game enough to enjoy these cool things.
@@thepurpleantidote8709 wonder if we'll get those other versions lol or they'll add a fulcrum or flanker with nothing to counter it 😂😂 they have to add jas grippen now that is a gen 4. F16 f15 too
@@emmanue224 We probably will get those different F14 versions, due to TopGuns boost of fame. As for the rest, who knows. Also, I can't get past tier 1 planes lol, then again, I need skill to do that. My main problem now is that steam hates every attempt I make at playing any game related to steam.
Have the same problem with missiles, they always miss since last update. Anybody else noticed that? Maybe it's just me being a noob, but before the update I almost never missed with missiles
@@crosshairs19 probably to balance more advanced missiles like r73, ASRAAM's aim 9l(when they fix aim9l). As in make it possible to actually flare and evade them instead of dumping 30flares just for them to track anyway
I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a silent nerf to Russian missiles. R-24s and R-60s just haven’t been tracking at all where as sparrow E2s have been better than ever. As of US needed more of a buff
Once I started watching these I've learnt so much about dogfights, I stopped playing air battles about 5 years ago and focused on ground, now that I'm back in and am learning it's been so much fun
The reason he got slow and you gained on his inside was because after your first pass with him, he went low and then tried to fight in the vertical. You have way more of a comparative advantage in the vertical than in the turn fight. He then furthered his mistake by trying to switch from a vertical fight to a radial fight.
I like tier 4-6 in this game because of how quickly a dogfight can end. The 20mm and 30mm guns have such a high fire rate that all that matters in a dogfight is getting a good angle even for a second.
I have a friend, Will Ward, that flies a MiG-17. He told me how once he was asked by the US Air Force to fly out to California and "dogfight" some F14s in his MiG-17. When he got out there, they told him to fly in a straight path so the new pilots could fly up and radar lock him to "shoot him down". He decided that wasn't real world training and actually dog fought them. He managed to radar lock all but one (I forget how many he said were up there, I want to say 6). The Air Force told him never to come back.
Now imagine all this, but in Sim Battles. I solely play sim and I tell you. The rush you get when you do everything right to get that kill, is so much more rewarding then getting 20 kills in arcade battles.
Ya I believe the big bore is a visual bug right now. I’m pretty sure it’s still the same size as before the update, they just need to actually make the new bore work
In my opinion, I think the F14 is a good plane that’s being mostly used by the wrong person. If you have played the game for a really long time it shouldn’t really matter what plane you are using to take down one. If an enemy F14 makes mistakes in a dogfight, it opens up opportunities.
@@a.t.a.ctankkill3r876 did you straight away buy it before grinding other planes in lower br? Then you will find things difficult. If not, then go back to other jets snd planes like mig-15 and yak-3
@@a.t.a.ctankkill3r876 thats not thr best way to go about it tbh. I suggest starting thr grind from the bottom. Its painful and difficult but your skills get built up over time. Plus you dont lose all the SL
Your Mig-23 had 100% wing sweep The tomcat probably had it on auto cos it looked like it was at 50% (Or the pilot was just unfamiliar with the controls)
If you cut the throttle you could've been able to get him much earlier to be fair and it also reduces the chance of countermeasures being able to distract missiles due to you not being direct behind but rather more on top but either way you got him so GGs
AA missiles are very easy to dodge when your up close to the target because your opponent can just turn and the missile will fly straight over them because those type of missiles can’t turn as aggressively. Try using them against targets that are further away.
You were able to outrate him because he was going way too fast for his optimal turn rate to set in, he wanted to be doing around 310-340 knots but he was doing almost 400 so he couldn’t turn and use his outswept wings to his full advantage
There are f14 players who think they cam win in a turn fight against a Ja37C. That thing can out turn them. Doesn't mean I've won all turns, I've only lost the ones where I was already low on energy, but I couldn't get away so I was just fucked, turning was the only option. Biggest downside of delta wings, they bleed speed faster than a f14's afterburner chugs fuel
The Mig-23 is a Soviet air superiority fighter and the F-14 is an American Naval Air superiority fighter but the difference is that the Mig came out in the early 60s and the F-14 came out in the mid 70s and the Americans copied the retractable wing design.
the AUTO mode for wing sweep appears to be not functioning properly, as it won't allow the wings to reach 0% sweep outside of takeoff/landing, or anywhere near 0% for that matter the thing simply turns better at 0%, no questions asked
The plane is only as good as the pilot, which is sometimes reason you see some f14 players that are terrible (low level players with a premium plane to grind) I've learned the best way is after take off, fully swing the wings back, when engaging in close combat like in this video, the speed being around 400 I would swing the wings fully out for turn rate without afterburner, it turns hard and fast, if you need speed swing the wings about 50% and afterburners, this is just my personal experience so far, it's worked about 80% of the time
He lost because he went vertical after you both dipped nose down making him lose energy first giving you slightly more nose authority to pull the guns on, if the tomcat kept it's nose down and rolled over he could've transitioned into a low speed rolling scissors or something
I have been playing on console recently, and god damn do I feel bad for them. Mostly because aiming is just chance, but I’ve never got so many maneuvering kills.. People are greedy as fuck on WT, they’ll stay zoomed in whole time while chasing. You just start hugging a mountain and they can’t correct their flight path by the time they realize their gonna hit the mountain, that or they don’t realize how much their speed has dropped, and they stall out. Gives me the biggest testosterone boost to my balls.
U probably outrated him cus he was high on fuel (30min) and carried 4 aim54s etc , aim54 a piece weighs around 400kg , so yea carrying 6=2400 kgs (6000 lbs)
That would be one of his lowest fuel amounts as I would carry full tank cause you can burn through 30 mins in just 6mins cause f14 engines are very very thirsty
dont shoot those R-60Ms so close, try to have a distance of at least 0.7km, they turn sharo but they are no SRAAMs. if you have trouble with locking up aircraft in a dogfight i highly suggest using IRST and that sweet ACM boresight with the giant vertical scanner.
R-60Ms can pull in at 0.3km. The problem is that he couldn’t pull enough lead for the missile to be able to start turning, because missiles have a small period of time where they cannot maneuver, and usually they ignore flares during that period too.
@@kommandantkillcode listen, the R-60 is not an AIM9. you dont lead it, you let it do the turning for you. only times you lead it is wheh you intercept someone at a very high AoA. its not only 30G of pull, the R-60 also had a very high trackrate, allowing it to turn more quickly and response faster to enemy manuvers.
@@kommandantkillcode i knew that, i have over 2750 hours in the game. but unlike the aim9, the R-60 pulls so hard and quick that 80% of the time leading makes no difference. the idea of the R-60 is to shoot it in snapshots, so you get an angle that an enemy you chase will not think you followed them. for example, im approaching the furball from the side and notice an F-5E flying perpendicularly with his engines slightly showing. with an aim9 i would get behind him and only than lock and launch, but with the R-60 i get a lock, launch, and scoot off.
he was pulling to much aoa to effectively rate you, trying to bring his nose round as quickly as possible leading him to lose energy forcing him to dump his nose as he did letting you get the shot
The two Libyan pilots who got shot down by f-14 watching this be like: wtf why didnt I think of this earlier🤣 But realistically speaking, that f-14 is the very first iteration that came up which is unreliable as fuck. So it kinda reflects it well, something like if you play the first phantom in game to the new one, it gets better. Probably in the future we'll get the better upgraded variants.
