The HOT doesn't shoot randomly. It's due the launcher that needs to swing into the direction you wanna aim after reloading. Otherwise it will shoot straight ahead, thus throwing off you aim.
Additionally, the launcher has very poor horizontal traverse side to side while the periscope, the same as on the SS.11, has better traverse than the launcher. You may have your crosshairs on a tank, but the launcher may be aligned slightly off from it. In the SS.11, it gets small circles showing where either launcher is aiming but the HOT doesn't, which is probably where Oxy's misconception comes from.
Definitely. Should be 8.3ish imo. Not exclusive to just the HOT, just about every ATGM carrier is still overtiered. M901, Starship/Sheridan, IT-1, Shturm, both Raks, Swingfire, Striker, Type 60, M113A1 TOWs, AMX-13 HOT etc.
This is (mostly) the problem, however; bad ping, packet loss, and bad server connection affect the missile as well. If you align it there is still a chance of a 'misfire'. Not aligning it gives it the usual and expected swing, but also has the chance to add to the unpredictable and unusual vertical spread as well as the horizontal.

Also, Oxy acutally goes around compairing tanks to one another, as well as their BRs and repair costs, which may mean that he will paint nations or premiums as not worht the effort or price, while gaijin reall want people to get in the deep end and throw as much money as possible
Shocked you might be doing Soviets after the Addendum for Germany, considering that's 2 massive trees in a row. I'd honestly take a step back after that and either take a break or consider doing a smaller tree like France or China before pushing on to the final big one, USA. (Please French tree, 6.7 atm, it needs more attention after the SL breaking costs it keeps getting)
I'd really want to see the french tree review, It has a lot of unique vehicles and different playstyles. And yeah, french vehicles are very overpriced in relation with repairing costs.
France is no where near complete enough for a review... They only have a single viable top br tank. He should really do America next, because its effectively complete. Russian tree still needs to add stuff that's on par with the m1a2, leo2a5, leclerc, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if we see T-90 at a point. At the very least a modernization package for a tank(e.g. T-64BM, T-80UM). France has more to add. So does Japan. China or USA would be the best option for doing a review that doesn't have to added to a few months later(like britain now needs).
@@monarchco He did Britiain which suffice to say isn't complete at top tier as well. Only 9.7 has some good tanks and useful for a line up but a single Challenger 2 and those 9.7s minus the Vicker mk 7 are not good enough for top tier. Still does a series on them

Well the high modification RP cost for the end of the line tank thing with the TAM also applies to the Rad and the KPz so it applies to all of them, though yes the stock grind is the worst of the three
You keep missing on one important factor with these tanks and their playability, repair costs. It determines how repayable the tank can be and the style you will be forced to play to make a thin profit . It has poisoned the game since Kpz-70 and t64 came out.
so i know its pretty cheap overall, but for 6.3 the t-26e1-1 is hella expensive if we compare it to the tiger 2 p, (which i also have so dont call me a freeaboo) the t-26e-1 is: 24,00 more rp (95k for for pershing, 71k for king tiger) 50,000 more sl to buy (260k for pershing, 210 for king tiger) 3,437 more sl to repair (9537 for pershing, 6100 for king tiger) and 14,000 more to crew (75,000 for pershing, 61,000 for king tiger) additionally, the king tiger is much easier to use for many, and gets smoke, and is paired with a better m41 than the americans get, and the german long 88 tds. oh and the wunderwaffe CAS. If anybody wants to tell me Germany suffers, just comment and i'll provide you with (what should be) obvious info as to why you're wrong!
@@thf773 yea i'd say russia suffers in the mid tiers Bullying T-34 and KVs are so easy that the only time i would worry about them is when they have my sides. Being shot at the front plate means death Any tank in russia below rank 5 except KV-2, IS-2, T-44-100/122, T-34-100 cant do shit against germany (and america in AB). I believe the cause of this is russian tanks prioritize anti Pz.3/4s rather than anti Panther or anti Tiger 2 as the former are the most produced tanks in germany at the time and panther/tiger transmission broke so often that they could catch them off guard. The previously mentioned vehicles and SPGs preform well in anti tank tho. Mostly because of the huge caliber they strapped into their tanks. This is however not the case with Rank 5-6. T-54/55/62s will always bully the crap of Leopards. Especially with those pesky APHE and gun ATGM :/ America has, arguably the best medium in Rank 2-4. Trust me, unless im using a tiger 2, facing a sherman is annoying. The weakspot is on the MG port but that isnt really consistent. Simetimes it pens and kills, most of the time i am the one getting penned.
@@thf773 That's true that the t26 has a much higher repair cost but it also has smaller weakspots unlike the tiger 2 p where basically half it's turret is a weak spot. As for the getting paired with a superior m41 you are rigt but you completely disregarded one thing. Teams. Germany is paired with Italy and/or Japan and sometimes Sweden. In all those cases it's basically just German tanks because especially at 6.3 you barely see any tanks on the axis team that aren't German. Those have to constantly fight against the Russian, Americans, British, French ect. Even at 6.3 Germany has only 2 tanks that are fast (3 if you country the jagdpanther but it's not relying on it's mobility since it's turn rate and reverse are atrocious. At this same br you verse not only the brits with their stabilisers and sabot rounds but also the Americans and soviets who other than major nations have either pretty solid line ups or good cas. Germany is relying only on armor and at 6.3 it starts taking some different steps. Armor isn't any good though at such high a br
HOT does that silly thing with the missile because you fire exactly when you reload, your tube needs to swing to the target and thus the missile flys out the tube which is not pointing where you are telling it to, yet. This is really felt on Sturm-S (poor thing). M48A2 G A2 meaningful change, new better transmission and engine, gives it better reverse and mobility increase. I would say A1A1 for long range and M48 G for city fights because armor sometimes can save you. 2A4/2A5 low ammo count? Cconsidering the blow put is only 15 shells that is low for long games or spaming shells around. One shot in lower ammo rack is also a bad thing, so if you want more ammo you musn't get shot in that ammo rack. One base SAM can get overwhelmed by 2-3 top choppers, I would say it is good to have the ability to spawn it (specially if you dont have any aircraft!)
I agree with your Leopard A1A1's analysis, but I think that since it's basically stuck in the middle of the tier list and the fact that you should grind all the way up to the top, eventually meeting Leo A5 (which is the most ultimate vehicle in German tech tree for BR 10.3 now), this is more like "MUST GET" rather than "I'd get". Though I strongly agree with your opinion and support your channel!!
Super analysis. Just got my 2K and 2A4 at same time and working their stock grinds simultaneously. Concur with all your analysis pretty much. I really enjoy the "Bagel" panzer (wish it took less time to switch belts though), struggled with the TAM and absolutely love the Leo 1 /L44. I am going to shift my current grind from the Roland to the 2A5 based on your vid. Thanks for your hard work!
One thing I would add about the Gepard is that its API-T actually functions as APHE (you can look at the exact statistics using the Type 89, it has the same ammunition) and that you are able to kill any soviet medium tank from the side by shooting at the lowest part of the hull, pretty much at the center of the road wheels where the armor is 20mm and not the standard 80mm side, the HE part of your ammunition will explode inside and kill the target pretty fast
As someone who heavily plays the Leo A1A1, I am very thankful for a couple of the tips as, while I understand the vehicle quite well, other people don't and I see them struggling! So to see you put it to words in a video? I hope people pay attention! o7 my dude.
Man German tree really is the easiest one it seems, and Leo 2A5 is basically braindead easy, especially with fewer helicopters around now. These vids are great Oxy, can't wait to see what's next.
Don't know if anyone notice it yet but if you look at the way the rocket reload mechanism was designed, in 2:33, after the rocket pop up, it need to move from the angle that the hatch was open to the point that your mouse is currently pointing. You can't notice this factor in 1st person. Meaning you can't take a snap shot using this vehicle right after the reload it complete, you need to wait 1s after it is reload before firing. Of course in some cases where the direction that you want to file is in line with the angle of the hatch you can still get the snapshot without waiting. You have to give credit to the dev since they actually implement even the tiniest detail of the vehicle into gameplay. Who would have thought playing the RakJPz is actually more involved...
Something to note at top tier, because of way APFSDS rounds work, no matter how much you angle it will not increase armour thickness, just increase how likely you are to bounce
I love the KPz-70 but the problem I still have with it is the fact that gaijin treats it as a top top top tier tank that requires tons of xp to get modifications for, it takes upwards of 30k xp for a tier 2 upgrade which is just painful, but besides that the tank is pretty good!
3:00 You know, it was also historical that Panthers and Tigers would suffer transmission failures or randomly catch fire, but they didn't model THAT into the game, now, did they? And don't even get me STARTED on the mechanical failings of the T-34. Modeling this sort of thing into the game seems like more of a specific vehicular nerf by design than anything else. We play these vehicles as if they were at the peak of their performance, and this should be no different for the HOT missiles.
The missfire on the RakJPz is because you are firing it to early after a reload, the reticle allowes you to fire it up but the actual launcher is still repositioning to the straight default position. Yes, it is still an error because its informing a lil bit too early that you can fire again while the launcher is not ready, but is easily overcome by waiting a lil bit more after a reload after firing.
@3:20 - The reason for it is because when loading the missile has finished, you need to wait 1sec for it to turn where you are aiming if your hull is not 100% aligned with your aiming position, so when it reloads, like in that specific time frame when you shot right when loaded, basically ASAP shot, it didn't shot where you aimed because it just got loaded and was in its default position. You can understand it when you will look at the animation in 3rd person view, then you will understand why. @23:00 - Actually, I had quite enough times being shot at, that I can say that enemy can overpenetrate you or not do anything at all. Enemy has hit my ass...no damage, or just fuel loss. Turret compartment has no ammo, so anything will overpenetrate the back as well as few other locations from sides. The argument you used for KPz survivability fits for Leo 2K much better, since I am getting less luckier with KPz than with Leo 2K. @34:30 - PROS - Everything. Cons - Nothing. :D Just imagine when A6 gets in the game...and then A7... :D brah, I guess 10.3+ Germany will always be at the top of the game, because A6 is on par if not better than its contestants, and A7 just outperforms the rest of the modern MBT's, including Abrams and Challenger. It's just sad that there are places in the tech tree where Germany does suck ass and has almost nothing that gives a challenge to the enemy vehicles of same BR.
The 2a5 also has the strongest angled side turret armor, the side turret wings when angled are capable of stopping any round in the game including the intalian dry pasta round.
Note on the tam and its hullbreak, it has the single highest health pool of all hull breakable vehicles, so eating dart rounds comes naturally, only thing that will hullbreak you in practice is the atgm, granted this change was made with the major update, so not everyone has caught on to this just yet
The Reason the HOT shoots off to the left or right, is because the Reload time ONLY accounts for the time it takes to reload the missile, NOT for the time it takes to REALIGN with your sights, depending on which way your Hull is facing.

The buff for the kpz was basically bringing it back to DEV SERVER STATS on the autoloader.... For real, the 6 seconds should have come since the first Abrams came, yet took them 10-20 new MBTs being added for the now trash tier Kpz/MBT to get something (albeit only the kpz, probably because US still has enough CASbuse to back these trashy tanks)
Yeah they nerfed the reload to 10 seconds back when it was top tier. I guess they realized that it is no longer OP with a 6 second reload and gave it back it's fast reload. Leo 2K still needs to be either lowered to 9.3 or get a better APFSDS shell tho. They should atleast give it DM23 if it is going to stay at 9.7
@@daphydrake7899 they nerfed to 10 secs it as most MBT/KPz-70s used american autoloader/assisted loader. But German KPz-70 had their own autoloader made by Rheinmetall that reloads 6 secs and a little more compact than american one. KPz should've 6 secs all along these years and not be brought down by inferior american counterpart
@@9595Christopher well both was at 6 seconds at the start and then gaijin "dug up some new documents" and suddenly both was at 10 seconds. Still i wouldn't really go by what reload speeds gaijin gives tanks in war thunder. There are both tanks with autoloaders and manually loaded that are a lot faster or slower to reload irl. For example a 120mm smoothbore can be reloaded in 3-4 seconds irl and the B1 bis having a 4 second reload while the commander also serves as gunner and loader at the same time as commanding the tank? Don't think so. . So I'm not fully convinced that gaijin really goes for the realistic reload speeds and more uses reload speed as a balancing factor then anything.
The Leo 2A4 also got a buff this patch!!! Along with the swedish Strv 121 it received its late C-Type armour package, so now it has noticeably better potection. I'd say they're both the absolute best 10.0s right now actually
3:26, it depends of how you are positioned, if you shoot when the circle is white, the missile points in the direction where you hull is aiming, you have to wait a bit, so the launcher can turn back to your sight, so add like .5 of a second to your reload, when you fully aimed to on side
A few words about the suspension of the best looking tank ever made aka KPZ 70. It's super useful if you want to engage with missiles helicopters that are really high. You can lower your tracks on one side and raise them on the other and in that way you can get A LOT of vertical space. Plus when fully lowered you are as small as a russian tank so it's great for taking cover too. Another pro thing is that it has laser rangefinder. It makes wonders in long range fighting.
Hey I know this is from a year ago but the 2k did have thermals, turret 11 is the one that had a thermal pariscope, there were a ton of turrets that went with the 2 k, some with and without the auto cannon , but turret 11 had both thermals and the cannon
AFAIK SAMs now have a MINIMUM ALTITUDE for the fuse to detonate, so using the roland 3 as a pseudo Shturm ATGM carrier Thermobaric HEGM against tanks with vulnerable roofs
I really like the statement he made about the Leo and the lack of stabs .... US mains will cry all day about th germans having better guns, but the dont realize what an incredible advantage having a stab is (and they have it starting at reserve .... so they should stfu)
The Bageleitpanzer's APHE you are underrating, as it is up against lightly armoured vehicles almost all the time, never one game without a handful of them at this BR. It makes taking out BMPs and CV 190s incredibly easy without wasting your ATGM. :)

One con for Leo 2A5 is reload time from secondary ammo. It is KV-2 levels of bad. You rarely face this but if you need to absolutely carry your team...
Well, as it turns out, the Rad 90 got crapped on. Instead of raising the BR or something, the next BR vehicle is the 2C and the current 9.0, the Rad, costs some 9-10k stock....so it became basically useless if you don't have a premium account and/or premium tank...
If ur hull down in the 2a5 and angle ur turret so that ur right cheek is the one showing u are literally invincible to APFSDS and HEATFS. If they shoot anywhere they can pen they end up overpennung and doing nothing and if they shoot cheek they don't pen. If you do this with ur left cheek they will go through the back of ur turret and ammorack u

Germany has a lot of new players who rush to get some good tanks but due to their inexperience end up performing poorly. One thing other than this however is Germany against the world. Quite literally Britain has stabilisers and sabot at much lower br's than other countries (including Germany) and is always paired with Russia USA France and the like. I'm not talking about all tiers here obviously since on some tiers they fight against the Russians with the Germans and then they get annihilated
Well yeah. Anyone who has played till ~tier 5/6 in each nation would know that Germany does not really suffer (and in a lot of cases, it's quite the opposite of suffering).
Germany never really suffered when it comes to the vehicles themselves. Almost every vehicle in the game will struggle in a full up tier, not just german vehicles. Every heavily armored vehicle in the game will experience that their armor are useless against heat-fs and darts. For example a tiger 2 H is just as hard to penetrate from the front for a 5.7 american vehicle as it's hard for a german 5.7 to pen the front of a T34 heavy tank. Also germany have been winning a lot more recently at the br's where it was said to "suffer" before. And at high tiers Germany are one of the best nations.
Hold on, Kpz-70 got a buff to its autoloader, while MBT-70 doesn't. How? They're the same tank. MBT-70 was a joint development program between Germany and US and Kpz-70 is just the German designation.
As far as I know, they had different autoloaders, the german one being faster. When the MBT/KPz came into the game, they both had 6s reloads, then they nerfed both to 10s and now buffed the KPz to 6s again. I'm wondering how they mean to balance it, maybe move the KPz to 9.3 or leave it be. The latter is more Gaijin-like.
Yeah, I play both Challenger 2 and 2A5 defensively. They are very very powerful platform. When both are in a good position, you can stop a hyper-aggressively pushing enemies. Tbh, both are somewhat similar in playstyle.
I think the Rktjpz hot and the other Rktjpz are 2 very different vehicles. Same hull, but different weapon system. The mouse aim is so much easier to aim, much more responsive than the slow missile of the first Rktjpz. Also the missile is (when reloaded) straight forward. So when you want to shoot the missiles has to adjust the flight path and that meanse your rocket can be aiming to the right when you wanted to shoot left of your hull. I think the HOT is a very promising vehicle due to the fact that it can take on tanks in almost 1 shot. The new light tanks make it more difficult to do this. But I think there are more dangerous light tanks at the BR of the first Rktjpz than the HOT version.

The Swedish have Leopard2A6 armor package plus even HE ammo what can be extremely effective against the German LeoA5 so Strv has the absolute upper hand. It's not really a con... Just something worth mentioning.
1 year later, how the turntable lol. The Strv 122 now have some of the worse pen rounds compared to most top-tier MBT, and the amour package is kinda useless against all of these new rounds with can pen more than 600mm of amour. Also, Sweden never uses Leopard 2A6, only the 2A5. (oh and don't forget the 13k repair cost buddy)
You forgot to mention one of the biggest weaknesses of leopard series. Its the hull ammorack. You need to take low ammo or you will go down after taking a shot on your hull.
Finally some tutorial to play leo 2K! Thank you good sir, well im a rookie in RB buut i guess now farming 2K and getting points for 2A4 not gonna be that much hard
You missed two quite big cons for the beg (at least for me), 1 to change the belts you have to wait quite a lot (about 17 sec) and this can get you caught by helis with un-guided rockets as it is probably the biggest menace to them and they will want to take you out asap; 2 the way the ammo feeds into the gun and the not so thick mantlet will make it quite easy even for HMGs to explode them (I actually die a lot for this)
on the Begleitpanzer 57.... you forgot to mention the absolutely atrocious recoil of the gun. even at ~100m you rarely get the second hit to land in a tanks side, cause the gun jumps around far too much
4:00 you are accually wrong about the lunching angle. When your reload is complete you instantly fire because you think it is ready but when reloading ends the missile is not directed to your aim. it still needs time to turn after the reload but most players instantly fire before the rocket launcher re-aims at the target
I remember when the german M48 first came to the game, it literally had no purpose. It had worse mobility than the leo, the same cannon and ammo as the leo, armor that is just as obsolete, larger and on top of that the same battlerating. I think giving it APFSDS and bumping it up to 8.3 was actually not a bad move
I as a general rule stay away from prem tanks, but after getting to 8.7 Leo A1A1 I decided to get the Leo A1A1/L44 ( when it was 8.7 still ) and dam!!!! I love the Leo, I have most kills in it and also most SL earned. Its not uncommon when using the 120mm L44 to finish up with 5-8 kills per match as it works so dam well
DunaMoose If you kill a vehicle 5 BRs higher than you, you get an achievement called godmode. This gives you 30k silverlions, so especially with a huge booster activated, many players (including me) try their luck with lowtier highspeed/highpen vehicles like the Zis-30 or the Pakwagen.
I would say that APHE is a better choice for the Begleitpanzer as it allows you to save ammo and decimate any light vehicle absurdly quick. Not to mention all the cheeky kills that I got by pixel sniping weakspots and nuking enemy tank crews with the magic HE effect (hide yo turret roofs and cupolas). The penetration is still more than enough for side shots so I prefer the lower Time To Kill and overall effectiveness of that round.
