Man, that first clip was from a game I played in 2013.....2013! Oh the good old days. Times may change...but that brings change, like the Italian Air Force (finally, ahem). So what's everyone up to this weekend? What's your FAVORITE tank in WT?
Little tutorial for how to pronunce italian and stuff. Our 'Gia/e/o/u' sounds are pronounced J. The Gi is Ji. Our 'Sci/e' sounds are pronounced Shi and She (a solid E, not and english EE). Our 'Schi' sound is pronounced Ski. Skee. The Ch is a K. Also it's Mamma mia, two M's for Mom. And no, spaghetti meatballs is not an italian thing.
Another historical error ; after the 1943 Italy was fighting whit and against the axis at the same time , there was the RSI (Repubblica Sociale Italiana) who was fighting whit Germany and ECI (Esercito Cobelligerante Italiano)who was "helping" the allies . Thats the truth , please for the love of the Grappa stop say "Italy turned side " it is very very painful and incorrect ...please...stop.
IIRC the Italian navy was actually pretty powerful, and included some really good battleships. They never left the Mediterranean though, so it never mattered all that much.
German used many 3 engine planes. Mostly for transport, but they thought about making bomber of them. Ju52 was used as bomber , at least in Spanish Civil War.
Hope to see Portugal in WT. We do not entered directly into WW2, but we uses Spitfires and Junkers 57 for the Portuguese Aeronautic (actual Portuguese Air Force). Also Flak 88 MM cannons and other german and british weapons/equipments. Nice update in WT, thought.
Jigas Tone I'd like to see Spain also, but there's no doubt they will not add any of these nations, as they were... 'irrelevant' during WWII. Yes, Spain nearly entered in, but our equipment was not that interesting.
Baron, c in italian is aways pronounced as an english "ch", like in "choose", more or less, while the "ch" in italian is pronounced as a "k" in english. Also, since you mentioned Vichy France, please mention that the Italy which "switched side" was the Kingdom of Italy, later often called "Kingdom of the South", after the King (who was still Head of State, Mussolini was just the Head of Government) removed Mussolini and ran from the Germans towards Brindisi, in Apulia. Mussolini was then freed by the Germans, and formed the Italian Social Republic, on the side of the Axis. From an official point of view, the "legitimate Italy" was the Kingdom of the South. Some of the divisions reformed by the Kingdom of the South during WW2 then became the core of the Italian Army in the early days of the Cold War. Still today, medals given by the Italian Social Republic are not recognized by the nowadays Italian Republic.
Uhm, it actually becomes a "sh" sound. The "sc" in "Scemo" ("silly") is like the beginning of "Short". And that's true only for "sc" sounds followed by "e" and "i".
The Cant Z 1007bis was the best looking medium bomber of WWII, the bomb load is (supposed to) 1000kg internal+ 1200kg on the wings. Looking forward to this pach, and I will return in the game too.
This seems all well and good, but looking at the Guns on Italian planes, theyre gonna be borderline useless unless they fix the Damn Breda SAFAT already, in fact all of the rifle calibre HE rounds need to be reworked to be viable (try shooting something made of metal with the Japanese 7.7's)
The Cant Z.1007 was a medicore medium bomber, the Fiat BR.20 and the Savoia-Marchetti SM.84 outmatched it in most ways, but it is still better than the Caproni Ca.135 and the Piaggio P.32. And maybe we get the Cant Z.1018/Breda BZ.30X, this aircaft was a promising further development of the Cant Z.1015 which based on the Cant Z.1007 and includes different versions, like a high-altitude bomber (BZ.301), high-altitude fighter (BZ.302), night fighter/torpedo bomber (BZ.303) and anti-tank-version (BZ.304).
Regarding the possibility of Italians switching sides as you move up the tiers, that's probably unlikely. This is because, like the Free French forces, the Allied-aligned Italian Co-Belligerent Air Force transferred over to newer Allied (primarily American) aircraft types, while it was the Axis-aligned ANR that continued operating a mix of Italian and German designs. Also, it was the P.108A that had the howitzer, the P.108B was the conventional bomber variant.
This plane was considered more of a Heavy fighter in it's flight characteristics than a bomber, it was apparently really nimble. So far my speculation of planes to come has been 2-2 too which has made me happy :D if you have time Mr Baroooon check the vid out.
Baron I'd also point out that both Italy and France used vehicles and aircraft of other countries. The Italians used German aircraft like the Stuka and the 109 and even a few P-39s while the French used Britsh, US and Russian Aircraft. Therefore it would make sense for both countries trees to reflect this like the tier V German and Japanese.
The p 108A was't such a bad idea for several reasons: 1) A 102 mm cannon can easily outrange every AA on a ww2 ship and of course the p 108A would't attack alone! 2) The 102mm had a sperimental autoloader wich could allow the plane to give a significative amount of damage or at least more chance to hit in long range attacks 3) the plane had also some torpedos in his belly so i think that the 102 was intended only to cover the approach in order to sink the ships with the big torpedos 4) big torpedo bombers were already used by italy with grate succes, like the Sparviero (wich was only a little smaller than the P108) so thet's probably why italy kept such a design
Some of them Italian planes are real beauties. Wish the game had some Czechoslovakian planes too. I mean it would be tier 1 stuff mostly, but we had quite nice biplane fighters like Avia B.534 and biplane bombers like Letov Š - 16, Letov Š.328, Aero Ab. 101 or some interesting prototypes like Avia B.158B, Aero A.300, fighter Avia B-35 or others. Overal the Czechoslovakia could rule the skies of tier 1 !!
I would have an emotional tie to my crew in my B-17. If a 7.7mm would stop shooting me down in only a one second burst, apparently ripping off my tail.
Bombers are just kinda boring. I mainly go after pillboxes and tanks because it's more fun and rewarding than the bases. I also have 2 screens so I'll look over and do something else while the plane's just cruising to whatever target there is.
What I want to know is if Italian bombers and fighters that you have investigated at the German Tech tree will stay researched at the Italian tech tree
I don't think it's so clean cut, Italians continued fighting on BOTH sides until the end of the war, you have the RSI (Italian Social Republic) fighting with the Germans until the very end.
2:12 the italian Italy was the second power of the axis, for its fleet that was stronger than the French in the ww2, and also the Italians had the self-propelled that could easily beat the French tanks, moreover the Italians possessed the really exceptional armored cars as the 'AB / 41 which was very special and also used by the Germans ... and then there are many other things that are not worth writing now...study pls!
The fewer engines you can get away with, the better. (Less drag and less weight for the structural support needed for the engines.) Unless you're expecting your engines to quit. Though at that point, I might say you'd be better off with just getting more reliable engines.
if they added the French it would mean that there were 4 allied sides vs 2 axis ones. It would mean that western front battles in air RB (like alternate history berlin) would be Germany vs 4 nations! they need to add an axis side to balance queues
Baron,I hope that the Gaijin will add the Spitfire Mk.IX and the Bf.109 to the italian techtree...and this are only two of the long list of plane that we have imported in our fleet
Hey baron, love the video's and you provide some great info. I was curious what clip this video is from if you might happen to know ? Be awesome if ya did the In Game commentary is effin hilarious. I ws looking for the full vid but no such luck. Anyways great video's and and unveilings you've got another fan !!
I would love to see gaijin add all the other Kv tanks like the Kv-0 and even the Kv-5 and the Kv-5 Behemoth (that tank with a shit ton of guns and a katyusha) but that might be a bit too op xD
Love this video. I'm italian and super excited for the update. Also correct me if I'm wrong but I think France did have better tanks in general and a slightly bigger fleet at the beginning of the war. But Italy's fleet was superior in almost every other way, better armour, guns, range.
There is no way that they'd add the g91 as a top tier jet fighter, it's only been around since 1956. The more probable choice would be the F-86K, a version of the Sabre Dog which was mainly produced by Fiat in Italy.
The Fiat Vampire would definitely be an entry-level fighter on the main fighter line, but the g80 would make a pleasent entry-level fighter on an alternate jet line, if there was one. Good idea.
The "bis" on many French, Italian, and (mostly inter-war period) Soviet aircraft is not an abbreviation and should not be pronounced with separate letters. It comes from Latin, and it basically means "second", which is why it is often attached to a second main modification or improved version of some aircraft type. Sometimes it's followed by "ter" which, as you might guess, means "third" in Latin. So you should pronounce "bis" as in "Bismarck", and "ter" would be as in "Terra" but with a short "R". The French and the Italians used this system because it was natural for them from linguistic point of view. The Soviets borrowed it, but by 1941 had mostly stopped using it, and switched to a more modern version number/letter system. And even the Italians also used manufacturing series for most of the war - sometimes replacing the "bis" -designations later. As an example, the Macchi C.202bis was an M.C.202 Folgore with a DB 605A engine modification. Combined with new wings with internal 20mm cannons, this aircraft was later re-designated as the Macchi C.205V Veltro. The Americans used model letters instead (as in P-51B/C and P-51D being different from each other), with manufacturing block numbers for fine separation within the models (P-51D-5 being different from P-51D-20 or P-51D-30). The British used "Marks" (as in Spitfire Mk.I being different fron Spitfire Mk.IX) with further sub-types denoted by letters (Spitfire Mk.IXc being different from Mk.IXe) and then they also had a prefix system to denote the aircraft's classification - F meaning Fighter, LF meaning Low Fighter, HF for High Fighter, B for Bomber, etc. So Spitfire F Mk.IXc would be a "Spitfire Fighter Mark Nine with C-type wing", while Spitfire LF Mk.IXe would be "Spitfire Low Fighter Mark Nine with E-type wing"... The Japanese identification/designation system is a complete mess and trying to understand it is like trying to row a submarine.
so what about the current Italian planes i unlocked in the german tech tree, does that mean they will be unlocked when they are moved to the new Italian tech tree?
Just so you know baron, The Italians were way more technologically advanced in aircraft and vessels. The French fighters were TERRIBLE while the Italian fighters were surprisingly well made. The Italian navy (believe it or not) was a very good match up to the french while the french was just a tiny bit bigger it was much older. The Italian navy was MASSIVE for a country like Italy but most importantly it was very modern.
