He-112, especially the A-0 version was my favourite. Equally strong were Bf-110, Beaufighter, Hurricane, F2-A and all the others, but the LaGG was nearly unbeatable back then. Edit: 'Kanonenvogel' is the name of the Ju-87 dive bomber outfitted with two 37mm cannons under the wings

I know, I know. But the kanonenvogel is the community name for the single 20mil He-112 if I remmember correctly. Really powerful plane. But I do not remmember Lagg being THAT strong. Cannons are powerful, sure but I do not remmember having too much problems with them...

PanzerDrag00n It's...it's really not, no. I've heard 'flying sniper' and 'auto cannon' but never 'Kanonenvogel. When did you start playing? I'm talking 3 years ago, the good old days of arcade fun, and believe me, the LaGG was guaranteed 15 kills every game

Dunno why, but the LaGG-3-23 always feels like the best LaGG to fly, even over the later ones in the tech tree. It's a great machine, and I'm glad to see you flying some more Soviet planes! Also good heavens, either you're changing your username every video or you've got a heck of a lot of accounts.

I've seen AFK climbers happening years ago and many of the times the player is actually there making adjustments. Probably just alt-tabbing the game... but they rarely fight back. There was one P38 who did fight back but the attitude most players who I have managed to talk with seemed to just give up on trying to fight. They don't want to fail while learning so, they do something that they feel gives them a higher chance to survive.

Not sure what I hate most in War Thunder, pilots that J out/ram their aircraft into the ground on purpose when I get close or pilots that go to very high altitude and just fly around the edge of the map waiting for the game timer to run out.

If the Typhoon had gone into a spiral climb or just pointed his nose up after that initial roll with you he could've won that engagement. Committing to a maneuvering fight coming from an energy advantage in a plane with nearly twice the engine power was kinda stupid.

There is always a way the other pilot could have won or survived in any situation. Hindsight allows us to all be critics of the situation but there is no guarantee if you or anyone else had been at the controls of the Typhoon at that moment they would have made the correct choice and not done the same thing or something worse.

I enjoyed the way you slid in under the IL-4 which was taking off toward you. True fighter landing. Now how about a reverse Immelman, wheels down and touching the deck at the bottom? Hmmm, I wonder if that's ever been done in RL? I enjoyed the gentlemanly exchange between you and Rewen from the P-40. Something you don't see very often.

Hey that's the special 'prize' lagg (well, the one players could get. There is another 'really special' Lagg that has the same weapons as the Yak 1, but that one was given to individual players back in the day). I got the He float instead of the lagg.

what i do to lose speed fast for a landing is idle the engine and go vertical; then at 300km i extend landing flaps and gear and at the same time i start to turn for the runway and descend in an angle that allows me to keep just under the breaking speed of the flaps or 250km. another method is to line up to the runway and before you reach it idle the engine and do a 360 while gradually extending the flaps to combat-take off-landing to lose speed even faster. both are safer and more efficient than pulling sharp turns with no flaps at almost stall speed near the ground as i've seen many youtubers do when trying to land.

MagzTv... Just wanted to say your videos are have been fun to watch and I appreciate how you present them in a way that is very "educational" to others who would play the same game. I was hoping I could ask for a bit of advice from yourself and other war thunder players that watch. I'm just getting started playing the game and am struggling at even attempting half the maneuvers that seem to be required to become a halfway competent flyer. Granted a lot of the problem is inexperience, but I also seem to be having issues working the controls with just a keyboard and mouse. Would buying a joystick and re-mapping the controls be worth the investment? Or should I just grind it out? Thanks in advance!

MagzTV, I just wonder the reason why you once said that "an absolute ace pilot in a Ho 229 can engage 7.7 jets effectively". Is it because the Ho 229 has a great potential that few pilot exploits, or is it because an ace pilot can tactically outsmart his opponent?

Ho 229 is a very powerful aircraft that requires a skilled hand to use fully. An in experienced pilot will fly it slow, Turning at every opportunity using it's turning capability and keeping it safe from ripping. A skilled pilot will utilise it's almost 980kph max speed making themselves almost untouchable and have the skill to prevent the aircraft from ripping anyway.

You inspired me to get back into WT air, and then I remembered why I stopped playing. Cruising along at 4km up, not flying straight and level - BAM, AAA blows me out of the sky. My SBD-3 (again, your fault :P) never stood a chance. I was just waiting around for the JU to get airborne again so I could avoid the airbase AAA. Guess I wasn't as far from the AAA as I thought :(

How close were you to the base? Base AAA is usually completely harmless until you get within 1 km of it, then it becomes no mans land.

I dunno, I was 4km up and in and out of the cloud. I watched a JU and friend land, so I was loitering around waiting for them to clear their airfield. I was on the edge of the AAA, so there was some very innacurate fire coming up, but I was heading away from the airfield at the time I was hit. One hit and my little SBD lost a wingtip, caught fire, fuel leak, oil leak, lost a control surface and ... no, I think that was it. Bad day all round at that point.

If it was a direct hit then it would do that much damage to such an unarmored plane. However that was the point of flak, it wasn't accurate so it exploded based off of a timer and then did damage with the shrapnel. Even if it was simply a small piece hitting the engine it could bring a plane down over time(in real life it would take hours or minutes). Its always going to be inaccurate too. If you're within 1km of a base at any altitude you will be fired upon, and they ignore clouds.

The lagg-3 feels a bit better with the WEP that it now has. Combined with Manual engine controls, I can WEP for about 3 minutes then un-WEP (100% throttle) for about 10 seconds and repeat. Bf109 Es can be taken down on more equal standing. I still don't like the effectiveness of the guns though

Not depressed. A combination of tired and trying to keep quiet, This was flown at around 3am while my daughter was sleeping in the next room. My voice carries well and she would wake up if I spoke up.
