really late reply, but it's from how video compression works. when there's a lot detail moving around between frames in the video, the waves reflecting the sun in this case, compression doesn't work as well so the quality suffers to keep the video bitrate from going up. you sound surprised so i'm guessing this is on youtube's end which happens alot.

@@silience4095 i've recorded lossless war thunder video and as soon as you run it through any kind of compression it does this, not really youtube's fault. one way around it is to run the game at a higher resolution, (through nvidia's DSR or something similar if you don't have a higher res monitor,) and then record at that resolution. it helps decrease the effect of the compression artifacts washing out the detail if you just have more detail to start with. a youtube video in 4k will still look better than 1080p on a 1080p monitor for this reason, among others.

@@silience4095 and what I meant is that in my experience through my own testing, is that the quality difference between youtube compressing a war thunder air rb video and doing it yourself with a video editing program is negligible, even if you increase the bit rate to ungodly ammounts.

Thanks, I will! I'd say the Wyvern (as a fighter) because it has the low alt speed UK aircraft generally lack, and is different from all the other fighters.

Haha happens to everyone. I was wondering why you went for the Ki87 instead of the higher N1K1 though. N1K1 was higher and slow, so when you pulled up after killing the Ki87 you played into his hands.

Adam514 several reasons: 1. I know the Ki-87 is a faster plane and I thought he had a higher chance of catching you 2. The N1K was slower but the Ki-87 was literally right below me and seemed pretty oblivious and was the easier kill 3. I thought I could quickly kill the ki-87 then switch to the N1K but I didn’t realize the N1K had switched onto me and I underestimated his ability to climb after me

This plane is worse than a Bf 109 without injection, because the 109 got MW-50 for 26 minutes and you always use wep in a 109 k4 when engaging or climbing. So it's ok that this plane is fighting against props and not jets. I would like to fly the K-14 in this game because of it's 2 compressors like the P51H, so germany got a 6.3 br fighter.

This climbs better than the K4 though. With micro management you can make WEP last the entire match. I agree 6.3BR is right for it. I doubt K14 would be that much better than K4.

@@AdamTheEnginerd It would be because of it's 2 gears and 2 stage compressor, which also is the reason why the P51H climbs better with wep. The K14 would be as good as this plane, but not at the highest speeds you can get but more at lower, so I think the K14 would be perfect. The K14 got the DB 650 L engine with only was build 2 or 1 time but still, Gaijin could make germany great again even tho they already did with it's 20 mm buff.

Climb and turn is close but in the P51H's favour. Pretty much the K4 has the WEP time that the P51H does not (only 8 minutes).

It's called the "local host". How to access the "local host": You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work! Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT: -Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila. Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT): -Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying. I record it on my laptop next to me at the same time as I record the gameplay, and then I edit the box into the gameplay for the video.

You need to set up Manual Engine Controls (MEC) in Full Real Controls tab. There are tutorials on how to do it on RU-vid. P51s have an automatic supercharger gear switch since 2 years or so ago, so it'll stay automatic even on MEC.

Much experience has made me good against planes that should outfield the k4. But every now and again, there is something I did earlier in the match that sets me up for failure (probably my disdain for f2g pilots) and a good mustang pilot and it becomes funky.

@@AdamTheEnginerd True, but it doesn't take long for a p51 h to quickly get the alt advantage on you. If only the ta 152 had its proper performance at high alt. But it has this weird rudder lock up even at low speeds when at high alt.

Low speed rudder is fine, and I think the performance of the Ta152H is pretty close to reality. They could perhaps cut down on overheating issues.

Owell, we should do some matches together. I know a good portion of how to use German aircraft but you seem to know that extra bit I'm seeking

There's the version of the P51 indeed, but also the P51 needs to have spotted the Ta152H and give chase for there to be a comparison. It's pretty easy to miss seeing an aircraft, and cruise throttle is around 80% so most aircraft can run from a cruising enemy aircraft.

Yeah I play on PC. There are videos on how to set up MEC on RU-vid. My binds are: Toggling MEC: backspace Toggling radiators: shift+r | Reduce radiator opening: 9 | Increase radiator opening: 0 Switching supercharger gear: shift+s Mixture: Reduce mixture: 3 | Increase mixture: 8 Opening radiators increase cooling and drag. Supercharger gear switch increases your engine power when over a certain altitude compared to gear 1. Mixture isn't modeled well on most planes, leaving it at 60% is fine in most cases.

You need to go in Full real controls->Manual engine control tab, then bind a key to toggle MEC and bind keys for radiators and supercharger. Don't forget to switch back to mouse aim when you are done.

Yeah, at medium altitude WEP doesn't add much power, but takes away your limited WEP time, so you are better off conserving WEP at medium altitudes, and using it at low and high altitudes.

Certain aircraft have limited WEP, so you need to keep enough for when you need it in combat. Plus, WEP is not a magical boost in power, it only works under precise circumstances, such as when your compressor is over compressing the air for the needs of the engine, so at different altitudes WEPing or not makes no difference.

Depends on the aircraft! For some aircraft something is added into the engine to allow higher power, for example water, water-methanol, nitrous oxide, etc, so when they run out you can't WEP anymore.

@@AdamTheEnginerd I think the H5 can hold its own on 6.7, the problem is that it would almost exclusively fight jets. On the 6.3 Br you get downtiered a lot to germany 5.3-5.7 and sometimes USSR. I really hate it to face these thing with my k4, there is nothing you can do but hope the pilot is trash....

I'm sorry, but you're straight up wrong here. That plane shits on 5.3s, and it was half stock! That thing is an absolute monster spaded, and the only 5.3 I'm comfortable engaging one in is a G.56, and that's because A) most pilots of this thing are freedumbs who will turnfight me coming out of a dive @300kph, and B) the G.56 is probably deserving of it's own uptier. Given equal energy and pilot skill, the 51H would shit on the G.56 too, I'm just better equipped to engage noobs in the 56. You destroyed a number of planes in a half stock aircraft at an evergy disadvantage. That took immense skill, and I'm not trying to take away from that. However, the plane has a laundry list of technical advantages, even at 6.3. It's great in the vertical, accelerates well, is blazingly fast, incredibly nimble (especially at high speeds), climbs like a homesick angel with a jetpack, and is lighter than the D-30. It enhances the strengths of the P-51D-30 while lessening all of it's weaknesses. It outclimbs a Mk. 24 spit on WEP, outturns just about anything at 400kph or higher, especially with its ridiculously strong combat flaps, maintains energy well, and will outspeed any other prop in the game. While WEP is limited, all the micromanaging you alluded to is linked to MEC, and anyone who is using MEC should be up for the micromanaging. Most players (on AEC) simply need to be light on WEP and only use it when needed, and the instructor will handle supercharger gears. Yes, the plane will overheat faster, but again, that problem would be linked to heavy WEP use, which as we've both already said is problematic. Difficulty in squeezing every ounce of performance out of a plane does not justify a downtier, as then skilled players will simply club. See the fiasco with the P-47 airspawn, which experienced players could abuse to no end. Your title seems to imply you think it belongs at an lower BR, and that's obscene. This this would then destroy everything at and below tier. No 5.0 has any business facing this aircraft, ever. 6.3 is a bit low for it. IMO, as a top dog superprop, it belongs at 6.7 with the Mk. 24 spit, which it outclimbs, outspeed, and outturns at speed. It has acceleration and turning on its side vs all jets, and can keep pace with almost any 6.7 for a short period of time. I've successfully engaged Hortens in it, arguably the best equipped jet to engage it. It's not easy, but it is doable, in a way that trying to engage it with a F4U, FW 190, or 109G is not. The K-4 is the only 109 even close to being able to engage a 51H, and it'll still probably lose as the 51H does all the 109's strengths better, except perhaps vertical ER. The K-4 would need an energy advantage to hope of winning, and any smart 51 pilot will climb and deny it that advantage. This thing is OP at 6.3 and would be downright broken at 6.0, as it would shit on 6.0s and 5.0s, and would still face stiff jet competition at 7.0. At 6.3, it gets uptiered less often, but that's only because it is then allowed to destroy 5.3s that can't engage it. At 6.7, the max BR it would most likely face is still 7.0, excepting the Yak-23, which is also deserving of an uptier. Sorry for the wall of text, but I cannot stress how broken this thing would be at 6.0, and how 6.7 would not be that much worse for it, to the benefit of all 5.3 aircraft.

Keep in mind that this was right after its introduction, where people were complaining about 50 cals being too weak, and it was at 6.7 while being worse in nearly every way than the Mk24 (speed advantage pretty much, with limited WEP). Also, I didn't mean downtiering further, 6.3 was fine for what it was. With the 50 cal buff, it's debatable but I'd still leave it at 6.3. I disagree about the importance of what 5.3s can do against it, because a full BR higher there's supposed to be only 1-2 categories which the 5.3 aircraft is better. 1 BR difference is very big. Plus 5.3 109s except perhaps K4 deserves 5.0. Thanks for your comment!

Adam514 I think you're right about most of what you said, except for the bit about downtiering. (Edit: also, the 51H climbs better on wep and has a better high speed turn than the mk 24 spit, plus diving a little better.) If the matchmaker is going to a have a spread of 1.0 BR, the uptiered and should still have a chance. 2 or 3 things it can put together and use is sufficient, I agree. However, in the case of the K-4, the 51H simply does everything better. The only area the K-4 might be able to compete is very low speed turn time (not ideal), and vertical ER, but those can't be strung together for a fighting chance/strategy to reverse the situation. Any time the fight would get slow, the 51 could simply put on WEP, enter a slight dive, and extend out then climb away. ER would be close, and the superior speed and power of the 51 mean a smart pilot could easily avoid letting those factors come into play. A Dora would also have trouble, especially given the subpar maneuverability. However, with the Dora's strong flaps and highly improved high speed control, and the excellent rollrate, the 190D pilot would have a very good chance at forcing a reversal. That's a downtier that while unpleasant, is workable and understandable. The G.56 can push low and medium speed maneuverability, and use its excellent dive performance, good acceleration, and good speed to keep things close, forcing the 51 to maneuver and enter the 56's envelope. That downtier is downright reasonable. I understand where you're coming from, but I think the sheer dominance of the plane and frequency of downtiers warrants a higher BR, or perhaps a downtier for the K-4(?) but I can see how you'd reasonably disagree. Really, the BR system is simply flawed and too compressed. As a side note, I've been watching your vids and have already heard several really interesting tactics. Defenitely earned a sub from me!

K4 has a slight turn advantage under 500km/h, the 51H doesn't turn as well as the 51D (higher wingloading). K4 is also way tankier and WEP isn't as limited (20 minutes). Main reason why it's more hopeless than usual is that the K4's main attribute is climb, over which the 51H has a slight advantage. K4 is limit 5.3 BR though. G56 is indeed a better match, it deserves 5.7 no doubts there. Similarly to the K4 vs 51H, when the 51H faces jets, its main attribute (speed) is lost, and it struggles a lot, probably as much as the K4 struggles against the 51H, and that's only a .7 BR spread. In my Me262 video I killed P51Hs very easily for example. These types of cases are rare, I don't think props are too compressed. Thanks mate! What tactics most interested you?

I'm sorry, but that doesn't sound right. A 51H is a lighter, more powerful 51D. I checked, and it seems to have a slightly larger wing area and a lighter weight. Besides, the 'Stangs have that laminar flow wing. That plus their excellent compression characteristics (sans rudder) means they'll outturn most anything above 400kph, ~350-375 with flaps. I generally don't enter high speed turnfights with Americans anyway, but I don't recall pulling in on them well. I'll freely admit my knowledge here isn't phenomenal though, I haven't carefully analyzed my dogfights with P-51Hs. I do know that above 400kph I need to disengage and reenter the vertical vs 51Ds, and always have assumed the same applies with the H. I understand where you're coming from about the loss of main attributes, but the 51H has wicked acceleration, climb, and energy generation vs jets. Not only that, but it gives early jets a real run for their money if they don't keep their speed very near max, as it'll keep up with them surprisingly well in a dive, especially from a lower speed. Not to mention that it will turn circles around them at speed. So it has a number of advantages. A smart jet pilot can deny some of them, but a skilled stang pilot will still have a fighting chance. As to some of the new things I've learned, your video in the FW 190D-9 showed me some of its vertical capabilites I'd been missing after transferring from the Antons(though I've still got a long way to go), as well as the "zig-zag" maneuver to maintain energy while still forcing the overshoot. Finally, the German Prop Pitch airbrake is remarkably effective, though one does have to use it incredibly carefully at high speeds or risk overrevving the engine and killing it.

51H is indeed slightly lighter but also has a slightly lower wing area, so when you divide mass by wing area you get a wingloading slightly above the 51D's (1% difference or so). I've reliably turned inside a 51H with my Tempest Mk V at medium speeds (51H was going a bit faster), and K4 has similar turn to the Tempest. In the K4 I don't think I've been killed by a 51H more than once, and certainly never in a 1vs1. But, I've barely faced 51Hs in it in the first place, that's why K4 vs 51H comparison isn't too relevant, they rarely face each other due to German lack of high BR props. It has advantage for sure, but its armament isn't good enough to get the kill for the short time a jet is within its range, and the speed difference between it and jets is really big. Add limited WEP and the loitering advantage props have is gone. Yeah FW and Tas don't use to for more than 2s. And if you absolutely need to use it for more than 2s (rare), do 2s on 1s off. 5.3 109s cannot go fast enough to damage their engine with the prop pitch.

I note from your comments that the game is very biased and not representative of real aircraft? Energy retention is due to three things, "Specific Excess Thrust" "Aerodynamic drag" and how much the plane weighs. At a AUW of 8,400 pounds, or 3,810 kilos, the P-51H has more energy, less drag and more SEP than just about any plane from any other Nation. If the game does not demonstrate these qualities, then it is full of BS and not a realistic simulation of the facts. The Me-109 G/K was a 3,225 Kg/ 7,111 pound plane, and as such, it would have at 452 MPH, 726K T/M of energy to use in a zoom climb. The P-51H would have almost 1M T/M, or a ~33% advantage over the 109. Then there is the simple fact that it had less drag than the 109K, a fact that it shared with the P-51D.Therefore, the game does not simulate real planes in the real world and any gamer who flies his plane from outside is cheating! I mean look at the labels on the above screen cap at about 14 seconds! Lastly, if you let the other guy dictate the terms of the fight, you will probably loose.

Not sure I follow what you mean, but I tested many planes for Maneuvering Energy Retention (MER) and made a spreadsheet to record everything. P51H conserves significantly more energy than Bf109s. In general the game does a pretty good job at simulating the performance of the aircraft imo.

The exit hole is much bigger than the caliber of the round. Abd holes in the engjnes will disable it, while holes in the wing spars will likely lead to structural failure of the wing.
