I feel bad for the veteran who not just died but her wife went on with someone else just to find his last spot.

Guys, forgiveness isn't something you "gift" someone. Forgiveness is something you do for *yourself* so you can let go and move on. Because she forgave, she was able to have a clearly loving and full life. Now at the end does she sound to you like she has any regrets? My grandfather died from lingering wounds from Pearl Harbor and man, my grandmother hate, hate, HATED the Japanese until the day she died. I always wished she could have forgiven. Anger just holds you to a time and place.

Im surprised she didnt punch or hit him out of pure emotion and anger and resentment of killeng her husband when they could have let him live.

As an American who lost a family member in Vietnam I understand her to a point but just as she forgave her husband’s possible killer I also feel she’s got it in her heart to and hope she has forgiven her country as well. Because when we take an oath we don’t get to choose what war we will serve in or if it’s a “just” war in the eyes of everyone.

The sole idea of meeting that person will bring bad memories.I would not wish him ill and that is more than enough!

soldiers dont really make their own decisions. they have to kill or be killed. men on either side and their families can understand that, so holding grudges forever isnt very rational. a bad memory for you is also a bad memory for the enemy, we cant forget they are also human.
