Great video Ade. I've had a WM16B for a twelve month and although I haven't used it as much as I would have liked to I'm on the whole very pleased with it. I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with it. Keep up the great videos!

Hello Ade. Glad to see you finally got your mill. Congrats. I was wondering why you were tramming the column. It makes sense if the head swivels, but I didn't know the 16B had a swivel head. Too bad we cant get them here in Canada. I am hoping to get a PRECISION MATHEWS, about the same size as your Warco. I'm looking forward to part two. Cheers.

I clocked the sieg as well. Almost identical to my old lathe (which I still have and use) which is a Clarke cl300m. Nice mill and nice job setting it up. that grease is a pain, but they do help to object the machines Good move in my opinion going for the belt drive model to.

Nice Ade, hope it gives you good service, I have Chester machines, when the lathe was delivered it was covered in that yellow grease/oil. I purchased a WD 40 degreaser spray which removes it very well but if left longer than a few seconds also “eats” the paint. I seem to learn these things the hard way, bit of a numpty for not checking first. Keep up the good work, between yourself and John Mills this old office based engineer is slowly learning how to do it properly. Thanks for the re-education, I am now making things a little more useful than swarf !

Very Nice little machine, There are a couple of different blue "16 size" mills availible were I live. However I Think that yours looks much better. Especially the base plate looks much more solid on this green one compared to the Blue verisions. Subscribed, I Will follow your video series. :)

Looking good Ade nice attention to detail you I mean not the factory! Sharp edges everywhere, don't they teach them to de burr their parts after machining in China? Lol Thanks for the info on your new milling vice, nice little unit that is. I am definitely going to invest in one of those before too long. Looking forward to part two and part three marking chips, no vinegar mind you!

The oil ways should be rounded to blend in so the oil is not scraped off . I bet the first thing you will want to change are the saddle locks ! Didn't Stefan Gotteswinter put some type of compound under his colum ? Should work out good hopefully . Cheers .

My Optimum was very far out in vertical plane. My trick was to clamp a square vertically on the table and then put a DTI against the blade and run the column down. This gives me some error from top to bottom. Then flip the square round 180 degrees and do it again. The mill will out be the sum of the two errors divided by two and the square the difference of the two errors divided by two. You can figure this out for yourself with a bit of algebra...

Hi Ade, Congrats of the new machine. I am looking into getting myself one of these too, so I appreciate your video(s). I have one question (a noob question), is there any way of adjusting the X and Y perpendicularity? I could not see anything in the video that could facilitate adjusting the angle of the bed relative with the base. Looking forward to seeing you using the machine.

Hello Ade, I've watched a few things about the WM16B and your videos are by far the most informative. Your latter videos even show some proper machining of steel - most people on RU-vid seem to machine only aluminium! I'm trying to decide between the Warco Wm16B and the WM18. I'm leaning towards the WM16B for a number of reasons: cost, less space in my workshop, belt drive system and a good specification for the price.. I might have missed your reasoning for buying the WM16B, but could you please recap on this? Do you find the height over the table is large enough to fit vices and work in? I'm encouraged by your comments on the rigidity of the 16B. Like you I'm finding milling on my lathe very restrictive due to limited cross slide travel and the difficulty in mounting larger jobs for machining. Keep up the good work in the shed and in front of the camera. Chris

hi ade i,m just setting the tapered gib on my y axis of my warco 16b .the only way i can set it is by snugging the 2 slide locks up so that its just touching and then adjusting the gib till its just smooth with no side movement. so then i can lock the bed but if i loosen them again to much i would have to much play is this the same as yours , i just got it yesterday , hope you can help

The greasy stuff they put everywhere is earwax, save it its worth about $120'per kilogram. It tastes awful and you can use it in cooking or to fry chips to a golden brown. The green paint is a colour I remember from machinery in the 1950s, it's making a resurgence as a colour today as a decorator colour called "pale eucalyptus" in a rattle can for garage doors and metal fence panelling. Estephan the observant.

Really enjoying your videos. WM12 Manual appears to say oil for the slides, lithium base grease for the threads - what do you think?
