there's no such thing as uncorrupted warlocks. those are shamans. the fact alliance got warlocks in WoW is a stain on the lore, and was only done for balancing reasons or because blizzard was too lazy to make a class that was the polar opposite of a warlock for the alliance, much like they gave the alliance paladins, and shamans to the horde at first. they could have made a class that functions like a warlock, but a "good" type of it. it could still have pets, debuffs etc. but they essentially took the easy way out, citing that "oh but medivh turned into a warlock, therefore alliance can be warlocks". the idea that the alliance would accept them in their ranks is a ridiculous notion considering that medivh nearly destroyed the world _because_ he turned into a warlock and was driven mad.

@@ZugzugZugzugson By the same logic the idea that Thrall's Horde will accept warlocks into their ranks, considering that their whole stick is being free from the demonic influence, is even more ridiculous. And not only orc warlocks but those from some supposedly former Scourge undead abominations. WoW has a history of sacrificing lore for the sake of gameplay so don't put too much mind into it.

@@ZugzugZugzugson I find it hard to see how alliance warlocks existing is a stain on the lore when human warlocks existed long before Gul'dan arrived on Azeroth. Also, you'll find that warlocks weren't accepted, by either faction. Their class trainers were located in secretive spots (slaughtered lamb basement) and even then they were only tolerated because their magic, while evil, was useful in battle. Finally they did make a class that's the polar opposite of a warlock. It's called a mage.

The portal was designed to allow demons to pass through, and some of them are much bigger than orcs, that's why it's so big compared to the orcs passing through it

I think it is his first portal he ever opened. Remember, Gul'dan was here a "rookie" in the use of Fell. He long knew of it, but hadn't really used it often, especially big projects like this

It can safely be assumed that in the movie's timeline, he was the ONLY warlock on Draenor for a long time, going by what little we can glean from the prequel novel. But even that didn't really touch on Gul'dan's origins.

@@Mediados the concept of the prequels was a fantastic idea, showing the rise and fall of Anakin and making it a tragedy, like the story of Arthas, but the execution of the movies was not the greatest. Especially the dialogue.

It was so below expectations that it was noted in the future that the mass literally produced some "denial mentality" effect when walking out of the cinema. The harsh critism came only in the future, when the "trauma' passed. The other two are still amazing thought.

Well i never know about warcraft before but i really enjoyed the movie n I'm glad i didn't play the game..... It's more appealing to non WOW gamers because they watch it with curiosity but not the gamers....

A well done lich king movie would break the box office, it should be a series with 3 movies, all of them 3 hours long

@erni muja I am pretty sure that considering what most people say about this movie. There is a whole lot of lore about the First War that they tried to cram into this movie amd so far that is why it has it's flaws sometimes.

I haven’t played WOW sense the level cap was 70 before cataclysm. & I thought this movie was awesome. Idk why people say the CGI was bad? I actually think it was really good. Hope they make a sequel or TV series.

And then this the only nice Gul’dan has ever done. Like in the entire history of Warcraft, this is the only good action he does that isn’t entirely selfish.

the story of Gul'dan is actually tragic as hell. look it up. he was treated like a mongrel by his fellow orcs, outcast to die of starvation and thirst and then denied aid from the elements due to a second of desperate 'greed' after the elements shimmered around him to see if he was worthy of their aid, the elements basically waved a bright future in front of him like a carrot and then denied him when he reached out for it because "oh that guy is too greedy for power, we can't have that" and then proceeded to cuck him in his time of need - that's when the Legion showed up and was like "we'll take you under our wing buddy, here's some phenomenal powers that'll allow you to become super powerful, but you work for us now". Gul'dan met his end doing what his new masters demanded of him, when he tried to retrieve the eye of Sargaeras. so in a sense he was loyal to the end, but to the enemies of Azeroth. if the elements had not toyed with Gul'dan like a twitch thot toys with her simps, the world of warcraft would have been a very different place. he had the potential to be a much more powerful shaman than even Thrall is, but because of ONE SECOND of desperation he was denied that future forever. no wonder he said "**** it, i'm switching to the other team!".

I've seen this very scene a thousand times, in different games, and every time I see this movie and the Orcs are passing though the portal, I always get tears in my eyes...

The parts with the orcs were the only enjoyable parts of the movie! I saw this film in theaters and left wondering why the entire movie wasn't about Durotan, he was one of the only interesting character in the entire thing!

If only they took the Last Guardian book as a reference for the human part... its by far the best wc book.

At least if a sequal was made we can expect the audience to understand the world and just dive into some narrative. I say that because the movies is 2 hours long, which is still really long. According to the story, the portal was always there. It was just buried and the Horde dug it up.

It wasnt solely designed for the Horde. It is supposed to be able to transport demons like Kil‘jaeden without issue.

@@oblivion9202 The Warlocks can summon them but they dont "live" with them. They only come when they are summoned. Gul'dans job for the Legion is not to bring a Demon with him but to use the Dark Portal to open a pathway between Azeroth and Argus and initiate the Demon Invasion, as he did in Legion. And the Legion Commanders are MASSIVE.

But humans have magicians, where Orcs only have Gul'dan has a magic practitioner.

Hence why at 2:15 Gul'dan said the enemy is weak. That's why he chose to fight against humans.

In the film universe, correct. In the official universe, he was born green. By this time, Durotan and Draka both had turned green from exposure to fel despite never actually consuming demon blood, as did all of the orcs on Azeroth; due simply to proximity. Hope that helps.
