That moment where Velen is trying to sway archimonde and kiljaeden, and they share a laugh and Velen thinks that it's just like old times.. then realizes at once that his friends had made up their minds to join sargeras... It's such a beautifully sad moment.
Since I saw the 2nd war in it channel. I’ve been all his Supercuts.. even though I’ve already read all the books myself. This is just more funny and engaging
Absolutely amazing, I keep coming back to watch your stuff even if I have seen it already. So well made and every time keeps me entertained and focused on what's happening. Duratan and Draka's little love story always makes me laugh.
Man, this story was depressing as fuck. The innocence and naivité of the orcs made them so easily corruptible. Worst part is, if Velen had embraced a hands-on approach when he landed and directly interacted with the orcish clans in their cultural infancy, thanks to their innocence and naivité they could probably have been turned over to the light and been much, much harder for Kil'Jaeden to corrupt.
Looking at the questchain to unlock the Mag'har... you are absolutely right. They could have been converted to the Light and be just as fanatical as with the fel. But that's why I love the lore
But, teaching a young race about them would have made their discovery much easier by the legion. If they were just another race on another backwater planet that had to be actively scouted to be found, it would give them a lot more time than the ripples of suddenly tens of thousands of (at this time very) primitive orcs blasting holy energy everywhere sending easily traceable markers out into space. The sudden appearance of a stone age planet that knew advanced light magic but were very clunky at handling it would have been very suspicious as well. Magic is one of the easiest things for the legion to track, which is why the night elves went berserk when Illidan created a new well of eternity on Azeroth and users have to be trained to control themselves and limit their output. Even places where they wont control themselves like Silvermoon City they have dampening wards put up. That's part of the reason that Draenor was killed by Fel whereas the more careful practitioners on Azeroth havent really damaged the planet even though warlocks are fairly common. Along with the fact that they still have elementals, shamans and druids to heal the place, but that's a side note. If there wasn't a good reason not reason to do so, after this long on the run, I'm sure they would have done it.
yup.. thats what happend when you cant take your nose off your ass.. draenei are little humble about themselfs.. they think they are amazing cuz they are really smart for a space goat.. but thats their worst trait.. thats why argus falls and any planet with them end up exploding xD they dont trust enough and they cant interact well with others.. lucky for their people.. velen stop acting like that and today he is a good leader who dont follow blindly the light but pay atention to alies and what they can teach to him..
As dark as the story is, this is like a comfort video for me. Whenever I get too stressed my brain is just like "boi chill out with a soda and watch the entire rise of the horde supercut" and I have no choice but to be like "Okay" Thanks buttress lmao
I read this book and i loved it. I never played WC3 but i played WoW and was on the server Gul'dan. I was clueless about anything in regards of the Orcs, the dark portal, Medivh, Kil'jaeden, Durotan and Orgrim and after I read the book i finally understood so many things.
Yeah it was sad to hear that news. Hopefully she continues to 'freelance' for future warcraft stories like she used to. I don't know the behind-the-scenes of the situation but its promising that she wrote that short story recently.
@@FlyingButtress Well... >looks at """Arthas""" "book" and the retcon hell she caused with that fanfic slop on whose promotion interview (during the WOTLK previews at that) she admitted to have never touched/played through WC3/TFT and didnt even play WoW till a friend carried her... or the more recent yaoi dry housewife thirsting She certainly can flesh out the personalities of characters with minimal existing traits and no lore.
I remember reading this when I was a teen , you made one of the most tragic and distressing stories of Warcraft look like a goofy cartoon, I love this video so much
I need this to be a daily thing. I’m addicted to the flying buttress sense of humor and voice. I’m pretty sure 20% of the view count is when I’m sleeping or cleaning with it on in the background. FINISH THE WELL OF ETERNITY SO I CAN SUPERCUT!!!
This content is bloody amazing mate, you deserve way more views and subs. I’m sick as a dog right now and these have kept me focused on a great bit of story telling
I wonder if instead of saying that the Orc ghosts traveled to Oshungun BECAUSE of the dying/dead Naaru, the Draenei had tried to say that clearly the same thing drew them there, the Gennedar crashed there because the Naaru controlling it was dying and may have felt the same call as the Orc Souls. Sure it might not be EXACTLY what happened but could have formed a diplomatic bridge.
Blown away that Velen and the Draenei forgave the Manari before they forgave the Orcs. They must have really liked draenor a whole lot if all the planets the Manari destroyed didn’t matter to them.
This is awesome I just got threw the Well of Eternity trilogy and I loooovved it. I listened to it on Audiobook.I now started the Rise of the Horde and felt off because of Christine Golden being the narrator really threw it off for me. but from where I am at in the book you are describing it just like it is in the book.
"Now if you'll excuse me, im gonna go dance in the moonlight and maturbate." That one got a good laugh out of me and now my co-workers think im crazy. Worth it!
This video is incredibly well done. I already loved draenor and the outlands as a whole. but this video made me love, understand, and appreciate the story as a whole that much more. Thank you flying buttress!
Something I just could never understand about this story. Velen and the Dranei clearly had more advanced technology and weapons than the orcs even with Kiljaedens help. Did they not? Why didn't at any point Velen fight back against the Orcs even in a self-defense manner. I understand he is a pacifist and all but it feels like he could've done alot more to prevent the slaughter of his people, and the fact that he didn't clue in, not even sniff that Kiljaeden was behind all this always drove me nuts. I mean, Velen is supposed to be a prophet no?! Mental he couldn't figure that out.
Don't think I didn't catch the Star Trek Discovery style intro. It was heartwarming but also sad to see the young Durotan and Orgrim before everything went to shit. Meanwhile, it was fucking hilarious to see Mother Kashuur getting pestered by an orc ghost boomer.
This story is pretty much how humans irl would react. It’s such a well written story and excellently told by a masterful narrator. It just makes the reader feel like Velen. Knowing what’s to come but being unable to do anything but observe. Watching the peaceful orcs turn into the first horde….
@@FlyingButtress I can really recommend them. Even more the audible version, read by Ramon de Ocampo. He does a great job there. Keep the good work up mate. I really enjoy the videos.
Me randomly seeing this video at 5am in my bed after struggling to sleep for 3 hours: "I hope that god doesn't exist, because if he does, he's the biggest troll in the history of the creation."
1:22:28 "For 200 years this being has laid dying slowly, it came to rest in that very spot perhaps for the same reason your honored dead chose it, or and it calls out for your ancestors,, so they may keep company together, the dead and the dying. If they can get along, so can we."
So with Malfurion gone again, we're at high risk for another murder Tyrande run... Furion was always her source of chill. Humans and orks showed up while he was asleep, it was murder time fun time. It took Furion and Yesra to talk her down after Teldrassil. Who's gonna stop the Tyrande murder train now?
Wow writing has gone down considerably over the years, but it's stuff like this that keeps me thinking about it. The rise of the Horde is a perfect example of "the bad does not wash away the good, nor the good the bad"
you know, i think it’d be funny if you continued having an intro/credit scene with you as everything, except longer and literally anything you can come up with: like assistant editor, animation, assistant animators (and just putting yourself 6 times) etc all random stuff just for the memes
Maybe next time. This video is a 30+Gb file and I'd have to re-render it... upload again... lose all 20 of my likes (lol). But in The Last Guardian... be prepared for an extra hour of "Makeup Artist Flying Buttress"
