Film Synopsis:
The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. I think it was partly motivation but also because Gul'dan has probably done that hundreds of times before, he's an elder shaman and usually its the shaman who delivers babies in tribes in old human history at least.

Never thought about it back then, but Gul'dan saving Thrall's life adds some interesting depth to the character and their relationship, would have been interesting seeing them go forward with that.

Guldan is much more interesting in this movie than a lot of other media, clearly he does evil but he still remembers his training as a shaman aiding in Thrall’s birth. Inadvertently he helped save the very people he damned with demon blood.

I realize how few straight up big dick modern fantasy is actually adapted to cinema. I mean, LOTR movies are fantasy, but it's kind of rooted in realism and built for a large public. This movie went full warcraft without any concern if anybody would think that it is too much. I respect that.

Not really It does not give any explanation about questions like: Who are these orcs? Who's GulDan? Why their world is dying? Who are these blue goat people that were sacrificed to open a Dark Portal? Why Garona looks nothing like other orcs? I mean those who are already familiar with Warcraft universe know. So much story telling just in Thrall's back story and his ascension to Horde Chieftan. Lord of the clans novel made me obsessed with the honor and lore of the Orcs. And that would tie nicely into Blackmoore finding him near the river bank.

@@PoliticanGaming Yeah everyone harkens on about Arthas but if the movie lacks good thematic presentation its gonna fall flat - Arthas' story is a pretty basic tragedy story - which isnt a bad thing its just been done twenty times over. Lord of the Clans though is a great 'rise' story and lets be honest the strong point of the Warcraft movie were the Orcs lol.

It's a shame that this film isn't given a sequel yet. The first one had its flaws because of the changes in the lore, but the VFX and the music are just amazing! I'm pretty sure that a sequel to this film will do incredibly well!

@@brightlife2674 Yep Americans snobbed the movie, there was not even other competing movies in summer 2016 (another big movie was Conjuring 2 which is horror so it does not bring the same public). They put way too much credit in Rotten Tomatoes, I guess they saw the RT "score" and went nah. Shame, if it was a decent success in USA, we might already have gotten a sequel. I now think Universal should have spent all the marketing budget in the Chinese market.

I'm about as much of a WoW fan as the next guy, but objectively it's just not quality: -World of Warcraft's aesthetic doesn't carry a big screen live action movie due to LoTR existing -Changes to the Lore were poor. -General writing and story were subpar and a bit generic -Clear gulf in quality between the Orc and Human sides of the movie.

There was no Sargeras in this timeline. Medivh was corrupted by studying fel magic. It's explained in the official prequel material.

Amazing CGI. This movie would have been an absolute gem if not for the studio interference. If you watch the deleted scenes, you would know the studio forced Duncan to cut out some very important moments of plot and character development because they "wanted the movie under two hours".

@@Gerolanfalan Yeah when I say Warcraft lore I mean everything pre-Tides of Vengeance. Cause that's when things got real messy. The entire story just get's so much better if you simply ignore everything that happened since Azshara. At this point I'd be down for the "N'zoth Dream" variant, even if it's cheap, at least we can go back to fighting the Black Empire, an actual antagonist. N'zoth needs an entire Expansion on his own, same with Azshara.

this is an old comment, but there are some walkthroughs on youtube you can watch (even the original warcraft 3, not the remaster). the hard part is getting all the episodes in order and the secret missions. it will take a couple weeks because of all the content.

For those wanting/wishing for a sequel. Might be a long time. Even though it's currently, as of this comment, the top grossing video game based movie worldwide (mostly due to having most money from China). It, overall, didn't make much back. Even Duncan Jones, at the time, would've like to come back. But right now, I think it's up to Blizzard on moving with another one or not.

Fans of the game understandably hate this movie, but still, the CGI is amazing. If Warcraft wasn’t a thing, and this movie was its own stand-alone thing, this movie would’ve done a lot better.

God damn I forgot how on-point the orc scenes were in this movie! As cartoony as WoW is, this is what I'd expect from a more realistic rendition! I'm pretty shocked, the perspective it gives you for the many Draenei who died lost something worse than death to fuel the horde war machine is insane!

I want to see a World of Warcraft Movie about The Lich King! It can be a 3 parts! The first movie we Focus on Arthas of course before he becomes the Lich King. The more the movie progresses, the more he's pushed and driven toward madness, The end of the first Movie he finds and claims the Frostmourne Slaying Mal Ganis and claiming the Scourge for his own. Next movie begins with Arthas now the Lich King Murdering his father. Of course I'd love to see the Alliance Storm the Ice Crown Citadel and battle through the iconic bosses like Lord MarrowGar! Not all the bosses will make an appearance but the more Iconic bosses leading up to The Lich King himself!

@@ATKDERBY2010 Oh no they won't put anything out because Blizzard has turned into a capitalist tumor since 2016. And lore accuracy is important, although I didn't see any major violations that wouldn't work in the film. And in the case of LotR it's just simply because the show is shit. If it was good qulaity-wise people would complain far less about lore as well.

@@ATKDERBY2010 I personally don't see why anyone could like it, but hey good for you if you did XD On one hand I would love to see Blizzard saved with an actual leadership that doesn't fire people for absolutely no reason. On the other hand the British commission is not wrong, if Microsoft bought Activision Blizzard they would control about 30% of the mainstream Gaming market, and that is dangerously close to becoming a monopoly.

The only WarCraft game I played was WarCraft 3, and I absolutely loved it (plus the expansion of course). I actually really liked this movie, too. However, after I watched it I could only imagine what a proper WarCraft 3 movie would be like (but it would probably be too long, maybe). My assumption is that had this movie been successful enough, they would have probably done a trilogy, and the third one would have maybe been retaking some of the main story beats from the game, which would have been amazing.
