Ken are probably the Warframe content creator that I really enjoy. Not having a click bait title (super OP melee weapon that u can't miss), and having a human voice (this is kinda important if u decide to watch the video multiple time), and backed up his video with statistic and analysis. Not hating on other RU-vidr, but this is just my cup of tea. Its narration is clear enough for a non-english native speaker for me to understand. I am a science student myself, so I really enjoyed this kind of presentation. Thank you Ken, really wished you didn't bend to the trend when you hit that 100K subscriber.
What? No it doesn't. I literally just finished running a survival mission with an allied Ancient Healer. Despite his presence, and an Adaptation mod, I was still losing large amounts of health. Maybe a bug; I don't know.
Titania gets 50% evasion in Razorwing, that might explain the extra DR you noticed. Also, how about a video on enemy DR? Liches/Sisters and things like the Plague Star boss don't use the standard formula I think
@@gviztaivoras4230 I run Adaptation, Aviator and Aerodynamic all together with a full umbral mod set. As long as you keep moving she's nearly impossible to kill, even at steel path levels of damage.
Love your approach for all the videos, I'd love even more to see your take on the damage reduction mechanics for bosses/liches/demolysts and strategies to counteract it
I use a meme armour build and adaption for Grendel and a load of blue shards. Even without armour from eating enemies he is a tough nut to crack. Just charge in and melee away.
Absolutely love your videos mate. Not only do you provide awesome tips/advice, you go into the minutiae as to why things function as they do, which (for me at least) helps me understand the mechanics so much more than other Warframe youtubers. Keep it up lad 👍
What about Hellminth Invigoration effects on abilities that have scaling DR? Because I seem to recall some youtubers testing Duration invigorations with Nova's Nullstar and finding that it allows her to go to 100% DR
Who said that? Because the ability states it has a 95% cap, and through my experience with a helminth invig on nova even with 3 more null stars than i would need I at least didn’t notice having 100% dr. Although it might be a bug if you put null stars on another frame.
@@3G2306 Aznvasions has a video on it. Apparently its not capped at 95%, its just that's as much as you can get with complete Duration mods. However with a Helminth Invigoration you can break that limit since you can go higher than what mods allow. Sauce: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Cd0isrZqmM8.html

If you like stacking damage reduction, try baruuk: his third ability gives up to 90%, fourth gives 40% and his passive gives 50%. To gain that 90% on the third ability you need to have 9 daggers on yourself, which is not a problem giving that at 300% ability strenght he generates more than 20 daggers, they are slow to proc, and you can go with negative range to keep them on like 3 meters max (using your first doubles the daggers range if you need to use them more). Add adaptation for +90% damage reduction and change his second ability for eclipse, +75% reduction in the dark and +400% bonus damage when in the light. Immortality achieved without losing damage or any arcane/buff
I know its highly opinion based and best answer probably dont exist still a rough guide would work too. I m done with star chart and have 3/4 prime sets havent gotten into eidolons yet and feel sometimes lost on what to do.
@@dr_dud3 I've been in the same spot as you 3 months ago, I will suggest you to start farming kuva/corpus liches for their weapons (priority for the kuva nukor and bramma and the zarr for the kuva liches, and the tenet envoy and arca plasmor for the sister of parvos), and after that try to farm some vitus essence in arbitration survival or defense to buy the galvanized modes that will help you to do the rest of the content more efficiently, and after building some good Warframes and weapons that you like to play with, you can try to do some steel path to test your gear and to upgrade it the way you like, and also if you haven't done it yet try to get some "top tier" modes if you don't have them yet by trading, and for platinum you can farm some ayatans sculptures from arbitration to sell them, I know that it's not the BEST way to farm endo, but it's the easiest and you can get adaptation from arbitration drops so it's pretty neat, and finally... Try some Warframes and weapons that you heard about and try to build them..... And I think that's it 🤣, it's not like Warframe had a very obvious EnDgAmE but you're not gonna get bored that often with all that I can guarantee 🤣 (ps: for eidolons and focus farm I don't think you'll enjoy this type of grind but try them if you want bro)
Had to come to this video cuz I felt crazy after arguing w someone who tried to tell me adaptation was worthless on any frame that already had damage resistance on it cuz like 😮💨
It also shows how absurdly unusable armor tanking is, not only is the basic armor mod extremely weak and the frames with high armor extremely rare, without more armor and healing from arcanes and abilities its never enough. Because enemies can easily deal over 50k in a shot at level cap, you would need 99.99 DR just to survive taking damage, thats why the damage mitigation strats with shield gating and rolling guard are far more build efficient and actually suited for any frame with shields. Also the focus school that makes the frames invisible is a usable option to get a break.
So you watch a video about stacking multiple different types of damage reduction (with armour being one of the types) and you try to claim armour (the highest potential DR of all the types listed) is useless because it can't be used on it's own?
@@CrashSable because you nedd to build nearly 3,000 of it to match just having adaptation. And adaptation works on shields. You need to have high base armor, and armor mod, and an armor granting ability, to keep up with one mod. Although none of it is as good as just abusing shield gating.
Kinda shows why i don't usually use adaptation, the fact you only get one damage type per enemy type. In some cases enemies don't deal one of the three physical damage types very often so your left with no absorption at all to that damage type. It's also why having low rank adaptation, while sounding still fine on paper, means if you get the rare missing IPS resitied it now only lasts a few seconds and you need to be hit by it a lot.
Interestingly, Null Star is NOT capped. it says its capped because you can only reach so much duration normally, but with say a helminth invigoration you can achieve 100% damage reduction with ANY frame... until a star flies off so youre forced to run the augment.
Thanks for this video. I'd heard something about how it worked for years being revamped recently; the Eidolon 100% strat being nerfed and the new Null_Star invigoration strat. So Mod DR is no longer additive? (Eg Aviator & Lightning_Rod) Not that that 100% single type DR was ever very useful. Also, I thought Adaptation gave stacks for all damage, but only applied reduction to the dominant type on each shot? Though I heard something about that being reworked too.
it can give resistance for all damage types simultaneously but only gains one stack per damage instance, of the damage type with the biggest portion of that damage instance
@@kevlar_ira6280 yeah. I believe dr applies to shields. Things like adaptation make your shields take less damage. The only thing that doesn't scale shields is armor itself.
So, i"m a HIldryn main; so shock absorbers MIGHT actually be a good mod to look into, in favor of one of the smaller shield expanding mods I think I have equipped.
@@hammerheadcorvette4 5 seconds, but the time it takes to get back into your warframe.. slightly over 4 secs. Plus you are pretty much not attacking 20% of the time. It works, for sure. But man. It's exhausting and unfun to play. Not to mention the years old high ping delay for your operator, whereby if you are not host, will be shot dead before the dash anyway.
@@tylerhuntley9454 I haven't experienced the high ping issue since I lowered the Max Ping in game to under 150ms. Sure it lowers the player base for me, but I gain in performance (I'm now usually the host) and many ppl can connect to me. As for the mechanic, I use Magus Lockdown, and sometimes Magnetized shot, Void Chrysalis so going in/out of operator mode is a breeze.
Now that you have done Warframe Damage reduction, I'd be interested in a video about Acolyte damage reduction. I couldn't even find anything on the wiki.
Ever since archon shards have been added I've been sticking in blue shard to lavos. I'm at 2/5 tauforged right now and with adaptation, umbra mods and psuedo-shield gating. I can tank steelpath while rocking the MIGHTY SEER
You are actually the best Warframe RU-vid period. So informative yet keeps you intrigued, and always brings me back to watch more. Keep up the great work man!
this i might be a change since made video When damage is reduced from armor, each damage type has a minimum damage of 1. E.g. a Braton Braton will always do a minimum of 3 damage against an armored target regardless of how high their armor value is, as it has 3 different damage types. Non-Armor sources of damage reduction do not have such a behavior. - warframe wiki 8:41 said would take no damage.
Why not mention Baruuk? He has (1 - ( 1 - 50%) [Passive] * ( 1 - 90%) [Desolate Hands] * ( 1 - 40%) [Serene Storm]) * 100 = 97% DR BASE KIT, which beats out Mesa. He takes 40% less damage and he has 50 more armor. Which is a lot if you don't add extra on either frame. He is my go-to SP frame, because he can be pretty much immortal with just adaptation on top. Good video, but I'm a bit sad...
Hey Kengineer, I'm actually using a damage reduction Mag by stacking Aerodynamic and Aviator. DE supposedly changed damage reduction stacking since update 30.5 (released July 6th on Switch) and it now a single instance each. However, the build I made still pretty much feels like 89% (25% from shields + 24% from Aerodynamic + 40% from Aviator) rather than 65.8% damage reduction (which isn't worth making a build for). The wiki page on Aviator has been updated on August 5th, before it said: "Can be used with Mod TT 20px.png Agility Drift to grant a 52% damage reduction while airborne. In addition, can be used with Agility Drift and Aerodynamic to grant 76% damage reduction while airborne. This type of damage reduction is capped at 90%." Which in theory should be outdated, but at 65.8% damage reduction my shields should be super weak. However, the Mag is chilling in the air in Steel Path long after the patch. It makes me wonder if aerial damage reduction is an exception in the code, since it is the one special case where they manually capped it at 90%. However, it could also be survivor bias: maybe the Adaptation and aim glide (adding evasion) is doing so much work it makes it feel tanky. But I'd imagine that 65.8% damage reduction shields would be almost one-shot in Steel Path, which it isn't. Hard to say.
Late to the party obviously but I tested this exact situation, particularly with the Boreal set and Aviator. Boreal combines its bonus into one as expected, however you don't get the wiki's claimed "90% cap", instead they multiply together, giving you 0.4 * 0.6 = 0.24 = 24% damage taken or 76% damage reduction. This may seem like a downside, but if everyone takes aerodynamic and coaction drift (which I believe has been fixed) then you can actually break 90% DR and hit about 94% damage reduction for the whole team while airborne. Requires some investment and a cooperating team, however...
:Explains how the math works for DR so people can understand it and theoretically test their own builds outside of pure meta or bugs/exploits. Explicitly states more than once that he isn't referencing immortality states: "Naaah, bro, you can just go invincible by doing this bug and exploit [youtuber x] said!" It's like some folks don't even watch videos and go straight into the comment section.
I found a build that can give valk prime a total armor of 9647 and a total health pool of 1350 HP and her EHP is 44942, not quite immortal but still up there in tankiness and this is also without adaptation since I couldn't fit it in there
You can stack even more armour on top of Parasitic Armour by using health conversion. It adds so much armour for free, and you'll be picking up health orbs for blessing anyway
Yep, the DPS attenuation and shot capping and quata rounding is all quite weird, though bypass-able. You can one-shot bleed-out a SP Behemoth with negative fire-rate Sthalta. Or use a Multishot buffed multi-pellet weapon like Pyranna.
Hi Ken, very late question, can you confirm whether or not armor reduces damage of status effects? Something like electricity status effect that does damage over time
Reduction stacking is viable just barely because all frames need 1 slot for str and 4 for null star duration and 1 augment. (Because Im out of slots on Mesa Prime) I used Gara in sp infested incursion, she had no problems tanking those nasty toxin clouds
@@eyywannn8601 yes, however none of the teammates were given helminth shenanigans. Personally would have been funny to see instead of a Mesa, it would be trinity. I'm not sure if her DR stacks with each other, but would be fun none the less.
Odd question that couldn't get an answer for in testing with adaptation it always picks the biggest as the 1 that get reduced but what if the highest gets reduced below another damage type from the attack like 90 slash and 10 puncture at first slash would but once you get 90% on slash would it reduce puncture
I'm a bit sad that rolling is only 20% dr anymore - it feels rather small for the fact that you're giving up shooting for that time and lock yourself into a rather stiff movement.
3:35 I wonder what would happen to the game if you could get a perfect 100% stacking reduction. As you get closer you get to 100% (or just 1) the EHP gets exponentially larger. Mathematically speaking, a pure 100% is impossible because then you would be dividing by zero (1-100% = 0). I'm sure that's probably why the game won't let you actually achieve a pure 100% stacking reduction.
Could you break down how these things work specifically with iron skin on rhino? I think Nezha’s defense skill works the same way. I’m not aware how damage resistances or armor impact those extra health bars or if you just add a huge amount of raw health that the enemies need to burn through.
Ok I have numbers I’m struggling to figure out because my chroma prime when his vex armour is full and I use cold elemental ward has 18,000 armour so what would his damage reduction be ? I also use adaptation
quick question, do you think firewall would do much on the parazon. It has a 75% damage deduction while hacking, but I'm not sure if I should use something else instead
You should absolutely be using something else. Clear the area long enough to hack, or otherwise find a way to tank/evade such as by going invisible. It's a bad parazon mod in my opinion.
if you use an unintended duration(?) bonus with null star (basically only helminth) you can scale it so it gets enough stars to give you 100% resistance anyway
hey mr. kengineer sir, i got 2 video ideas if ya wanna try em out if ya like to and wanna here your personal opinion; best bonus elements on kuva/tenet weaponry. best stances per melee category. (having a hard time lf the best stances with good 'flow' and nice dps)

2 Things: 1.) You Didn't factor in The Helminth buffs. 2.)Can you do this kinda thing for Oberon, i wanna see the theoretical hightest stat i can get for Renewal.
DE had previously done that when damage reduction was self-additive before being applied (eg stack 80% and 20% for full immunity). In order to avoid additional edge cases - which of course were popping up - DR moved to the current system applying each subsequent reduction separately. There is no hard cap, but it's also as good as impossible to reach immunity with mods and optiosn that each only provide partial resistance.
As far as I know the most tanky warframe in terms of pure ehp is nidus prime who with the right build can hit a total of 3.9 million ehp. Dont know of any other frames that can come close to that.
@@csd1597 that does not include passive healing or his stacks. That’s just from one single attack instantly 1 shorting him from full hp to dead. With stacks and some other things I have probably forgotten it could probably be more
@@csd1597 A decent base armor, Adaptation, the fact he regularly uses all three Umbral mods (a rarity, most builds only use two if any), his 3 also provides, IIRC, 90% DR when activated on an enemy, and you could go futher and slap on a few arcanes. Arcane Guardian, Arcane Tanker, etc. That's before we consider who you might run in a squad with. 90% from Adaptation, 90% from his 3, his armor can get up to around 2k which is like an 85% DR by itself, plus an HP of just south of 2000. He's my go to frame for hanging around Steel Path survival missions to farm.
i just ran mesa prime, umbral vitality, intensify and fiber, all rank 8. 51.7%armor, 1255 HP, effective hp of 2828. 187% power strength got me 95%DR on shatter shield. if i did my math correctly, she has 56560 effectiveHP on health. is 56k HP not enough for void storms in veil proxima? i keep getting decimated by electric procs, and i'm not sure what is hitting me with electric procs.
@@yasirabdulhakeem apparently i never came by to thank you for this, which, thank you. seriously cleaned up my understanding of survival. still struggle in steel path early days, tho, i'm not off earth yet
Here's a fun thing that i found out by another RU-vidr recently You can actually get 100% dmg reduction If you have nova subsume antimatter and a invigoration with duration nothing will dmg you as long you dont lose the charges
This is a guesstimate for reference purposes. I'm accounting for the fact that some damage types will not be resisted normally despite being present as they are a minority of the damage on incoming attacks. In actual gameplay the effect of adaptation will vary far too wildly against unknown incoming damage to give a precise "true value".
It is not possible to calculate it because it depends on the scenario and enemies. Also, i only know one person that has extensively tested enemy weapon IPS ratio's and it's not public knowledge. For example, if you're being shot at by a grineer lancer that has a grakata, which is impact based, you only get impact DR. However, you do not know the weight distribution of the IPS since it's not the same as tenno weapons. So it could be 80/10/10 or it could be 40/30/30. In first case you'd get 80% DR in second only 40%. Combine that with multiple enemies with different weaponry of unknown IPS distribution, and you have an impossible task. As a rule of thumb, adaptation is used only a small number of frames that are already tanky or have DR abilities. For everything else, use shield gating One more thing. The deadliest one shotters in the game are probably bombards. They do not appear regularly enough to maintain DR to blast which means you would still take full rocket damage most likely.
Can someone tell me what is the armor cap in the game? If theres not how far can you go? For example Inaros prime has a base armor value of 225 with scarab swarm he boosts that to 450 (its not affected by mods I think) with arcane he can get plus 2400 and with mods in a normal build another 600 so thats around 3500 armor + adaptation 90% since my Inaros has 9000 hp thats means I have 1140000 EHP (pls correct me). And my last question is does it worth it? I don't have the arcanes yet so I just want to know if I should get them into my build or it will be too much.
Novas null star can make you immortal. It says that the dr is capped at 90% but that’s only cuz the highest lvl of duration will only get you enough balls to give you 90% but if you get a 100% or a 200% duration invig and max duration on the frame u put null star on you can become invincible
You test this and get 99% damage reduction omg dud there is no way you get 99% damage reduction. Damage reduction works like this adaptation 90% and the enemies does 10,000 damage 90%-10,000 =1,000 damage then if you use an ability like mesa shatter shield 95%-1,000= 50 damage then your armor reduction take remaining 50 sir this is how damage reduction works in the game it break down the the damage giving u more reaction time with shield gating
Yeah, and if you reduce the damage enough times, IE, an Electric attack loses 90% to Adaptation, 60% to the lightning mod listed, 85% to Armor, 95% to Shatter Shield, 95% to Null star, 95% to Splinter Storm from a Gara, the damage is effectively 99.999% reduced. I would say you don't understand that his estimated value was taking all things into consideration towards the final value.
