The worldbuilding they introduced into the game through Cetus, Fortuna, Necralisk, and Chrysalith, is extensive. I do hope they rethink relays (and the syndicates) and breathe it more life

I imagine that they have moved on from those. Prioritizing making future factions work better. For example, Chrysalith rewards the item that can be exchanged for reputation rather than reputation itself, so players no longer have a daily limit effectively. Those sorts of quality of live improvements.

@@SocraTetris I'd prefer something like a world event: Each Syndicate, while honoring the accords with the Lotus, has expressed frustration that their "rivals" are spurring so much animosity towards each other, that they are willing to leave the relays, moving into their home worlds. Then the corridor could be freed up for new content, while scattering the First Six into the Origin system. Steel Meridian has Iron Wake, let's have the rest their "headquarters"

I like to think it is funny that the Orokin had no problem condemning the citizens aboard the Zarimen to death, and yet were willing to use and abuse their children to protect their own skin during the old war. Ever am I grateful they were all annihilated by the Tenno Rebellion. Somehow by squashing one rebellion, they sentenced themselves to death when the next one came.

That's so true. Peak dramatic irony. Though they did it a few times over. The Sentients were made to explore Tau in our place, and the Infestation created to stop the Sentients if they rebelled. If not the Tenno, something would have realized that dramatic irony eventually

The irony that when the Orokin sabotaged the void jump, they created the Tenno; the harbingers of their own demise. They then had the gall to wipe those children’s memories and force them to pilot bio-mechanical weapons of mass destruction to fight in a war that was the Orokin’s fault.

Actually a very sad story. Parents who love their children staged a revolution for the better future of their childs and got totured by Orokin. After the parents went crazy, tennos had no choice, made a deal with "The man in the wall". Rell sacrificed himself knowing no one will save him. Imagine how afraid tenno were, how saddened to see their parents disfigured and crazy. Imagining it alone breaks my heart. Holdfasts blame themselves for whatever happened on Zariman. Glad the tennos killed all the orokin. But I still don't know what triggers the massacre.

What triggers the Tenno rebellion against the Orokin? That would be Natah. She became the Lotus and lead them to rebel against both the Orokin and the final phase of the Sentient takeover during the Old War.

The idea of the tenno uprising as a single swift attack on the moon couldn't be further from the truth. From Lavos, inaros and voruna's lore we know after the old war, the tenno were resigned as personal thugs of the orokins, and their first hand experience of their degeneracy kickstarted multiple isolated terroristic incidents that destabilized the orokin dominion, specially their police state apparatus and continuity line of supply

@@guibeck8259 yes. I was thinking that. After the Old War, Inaros for example, stood against the "Sky men". The "Gold people from the stars" as the people of Mars called the Orokin. So the hatred of the Orokin by the Tenno was already planted, probably when they were linked to the warframe.

@@guibeck8259 if you read the codex imprint of the stalker, and play Octavias Anthem, it seems that would not be the whole story The Collapse begins at Outer Terminus on Pluto, where the Orokin congratulate the Tenno for winning the Old War (after Hunhows defeat). That's when Natah strikes, taking command of the Tenno and killing every single Orokin, just as Naga drums sound. Stalker watches the rest of the Tenno commit genocide in horror (reminds me of the story of Ordis tbh) The rest of the Collapse probably then follows similar to how you said

Shall Be Your Salvation" (Darkness theme intensifies) In all seriousness, I do find it fascinating that the Orokin are, more or less, responsible for much of the problems of the Origin System. The Sentients, the Infestation, the Grineer, the Corpus, the Tenno-- all are the product of their hubris. Their Golden Age was a gilded one, rotten on the inside. Their technological advances were great, their intellect unfathomable, but their humanity? They had lost it to vanity and pride. They let their fear of death, fear of losing everything control them. "Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair" indeed. Also, I believe that "Tau" refers not to a galaxy, but a system, likely Tau Ceti. If the Orokin had the capability to travel across galaxies, and if the Sentients had to travel across intergalactic space, that would probably best be described as insane. That said, I do think extragalactic colonization and exploration is underrepresented in media.

It also suggests that Quinn was somehow involved with Albrecht during these days, before the Zarimen was sent off. Or potentially that witnessing the void creates in people a similar feeling of emptiness that encourages similar naming conventions.

@@SocraTetris From what I recall, some have said that the photo in the cracked frame changes depending on the hair color or style. It was one of the two. I had noticed some footage showed the mother as blond, brown, even ginger, while mine had black hair.

I'm still not entirely sure how the Duviri Paradox will come from this, but I have at least one theory: The concept of Eternalism is that each potential outcome is real and that we can pull from each of those instances of reality, right? That could mean that, through Eternalism, we'll see a version of reality where the Zariman DID manage to make the jump. Again, just a theory, and coming from someone who hasn't looked through all of the teaser stuff so I'm not spoiled tooo much, but Eternalism as a whole is fascinating enough in its widespread implications that it honestly deserves its own video.

That would be cool direction to go! I think we will get a bit more playing with the idea of Eternalism in the Duviri Paradox. We will be playing as a version of the drifter, caught in some Eternalism time-loops that will be told through the motif of an ancient Greek stage play.

One small personal observation I've made was from Quinn recalling Kira calling the void monsters angels, and dwelling on what would that make them. Us operators have been referred to as devils by Ballas and a select few other characters, and I wonder if DE is trying to make a connection there.

Right, I'm not sure either. DE usually doesnt do directly on the nose imagery like that with Christian mythologies. Usually itnis kept stylistically similar, like with Pazuul's dialogue during Archon Hunts. I would for now think that it was an aesthetic choice. Given that what we have seen of Duviri is very Greek/Hellenistic; the sort of thing from before Christianity

What I suspect it might be according to the past events. Tenno called as demons/devils because they've been suspected (not officialy) for horrors that happend on Zariman 10-0 once ship emerged from the void for the first time and Orokin found only children and dead adults and crew members. Later on that "title" was established by discovering what kind of power tenno veild and after how they turn against Orokin and caused Empire to collapse. Now Tenno tries to redepting their sins and from devils tries to become something more, something better. Now Angels of Zarriman - once friends, kind onces, but eventually corrupted by evil (void) and turned to monstrosities from nightmares, from friends to the enemies of mankind, like fallen Angels. (Sorry for bad english)

Definitely been a lot of hints at the dark nature of the tenno's gifts. The power comes from the Void and was the product of collapsing countless alternate timelines to file down potentiality to an outcome that worked for our operator, and then the question of how we handle the kuva when dealing with the Queens. There's also the Helminth in the orbiter that refers to the warframes explicitly as "demons", the frames themselves being made from the victims of unsubtle body horror and created by a people who routinely soul-snatched bodies from children. I agree; I think there's something to be said about highlighting and/ or challenging the predispositions that nomenclature implies and the nature of morality in a morally ambiguous situation.

Actually, I wouldn't place the Grineer in the Angels of the Zariman coming from Eternalism. In the video itself, the Operator/Drifter says that the Grineer hear the song too and have come. To me, it seems like they are trying to assert control over Orokin scraps like they usually do. For example, Vor was obsessed with those treasures. The Seer was made out of Orokin and Grineer technology to my knowledge. Furthermore, I believe in the case of "overcoming trauma" as you put it. Change is good. It doesn't mean losing your sense of self. Rather, just like how the quest ends, they draw upon something else to stop the inevitable. It is not destroying their sense of self. It's drawing something from your trauma and learning something from it.

The themes of reflection, unknown, adaptation, and past trauma that you describe in "Annihilation" are also found in a movie called "Sphere". I think you will find the added themes of a Space ship, found where it shouldn't be and a golden floating ball, that is distorting reality.

Can I just say how messed up void angles are and what makes it worse is us using bits of them as currency, we are literally going “”hay I found this thing that used to be someone’s hand do you want to trade it for some items?”” 😱 though we do the same thing with bits of the corrupted I’m not surprised. When you step back from the gameplay and look at the lore and the events we witness this is probably one of in not thee most dark horror game I’ve seen made, the lotus’s story is about a woman that escapes an abusive family gets found and taken back by a cult leader and brainwashed and nearly killed and is only saved by her adopted children but is so broken that she still dosnt really know who she is (personally I picked lotus as it was the only identity she ever picked for herself, though ied have liked it if she had chosen not us)

True. When you really start thinking about the foundry resources and the economy of the game, the horror side of this sci fi story starts to shine. It's just not presented as horror because, to them, it's normalized. I also think that it would have been better for her to choose rather than the Tenno. Because i think the whole point is that all the identities shebhas had to adopt to survive are a part of her, and give her strength. Like um... Cassiopia from Psychonauts 2.

I did notice this. Thematically there to show that the influence of the void is fading as you restore their past memories and restore their sense of self. I wasn't sure how to work that into the script, though. If we want to take the Eternalism angle, we could say it is because they are becoming more determined beings rather than just probabilistic creations of the void.

I like how the Old/New War Storyline concluded we can now look into this eldritch alien realm of the void and the beings that exist within it (and near it) but also those which originate from it. I love eldritch and psychological horror, existensial dread and the fear of the unknown. It makes me curious and despite being anxious along the entire way, i want to explore and learn. I for one am already more than mad enough to skip the whole part of going mad from dangerous knowlege, i want to know more, learn more, look at the veil itself and even behind it. Examine what makes it move and find ways to manipulate it. I know pretty much for a fact that reality is like a liquid, it mixes, shifts and changes. A Sea of a few things in large quantity, with yet still nearly endless possibilities. In a universe of Hydrogen, its not a question of if but rather when new elements appear. And as such is our reality. But what lies behind it, what makes this great mechanism tick, thats something i love to figure out and utilize. Even if its for so simply selfish reasons as having a computer to run games on, or a virtually endless source of energy by exploiting a possible loophole ... like creating a contious cyclic flow if energy between a universe of positive and negative natural entropy. A Place where energy naturally wants to collect, accumulate, build up from our view. As opposed to spread out, fill out the empty nooks and crannies, be everywhere equally like is our own. Edit: Infinite energy may not be possible, but having a mean of cycling energy back into a denser form at pratically no cost to us may just be. Not in our universe, but in a diffierent one. The laws of thermodynamics may prohibit classic perpertual motion, but what if there is a place where this law is reversed. Energy wants to accumulate. We just have to spend a bit of energy, to get more energy out, due to the density of energy that exists in said place.

No no no, the people on board the ship were all Orokin, but being Orokin didnt make you as important as any other Orokin. They had different social statuses within the Orokin ranks as well. People like Ballas were part of the very pinnacle of Orokin authority, and they saw even the common Orokin as just another group of subjects to use as pawns.

This is incorrect. Orokin were more than just a political caste. They were beings who were privileged enough to undergo the Continuity--the ritual that allowed them to be undying. There were many ordinary people in the Orokin Empire, humans, mortals, no different from you or I. And, like ordinary people, some worshiped the Orokin, some brown-nosed them for favor and recognition, some were indifferent, and others rebelled against them, or tried to at least. The people on board the Zariman were the latter, ordinary folk, with no blessings of immortality, who were chosen to colonize the Tau system. They were subjects of the Orokin Empire, but not Orokin themselves.

actually i thought about the the idea of the thrax, the ancestors are from duvuri. twisted by the void. this comes from a later update though so its not mentioned well but the enemies we fight are the thrax, void created versions of the dax. the thrax we fight on the zariman come from that world

I hope we get a new quest inside the Zariman, a bit like the Chains Of Harrow Living the catastrophe of the jump, playing the young tenno as they hunt the adults, driven mad by the void. They could probably explain what was the counterparts of the pact with The Man In The Wall and makes us live the horrors of the Tenno lived, that lead to what they became. Or maybe how the Drifter survived since he didn't accept the deal I imagine an horror like quest (thus like The Chain Of Harrow), because the screams during the flashback in The New War were terrifying and when exploring the ship we can see hiding spots made with furniture and all, if the quest was played with the Drifter and thus with no power to defend ourselves, it would be really terrifying to play, especially with the sound design

Agreed. We know that the next big quest, supposed to come this year, is the Duviri Paradox. We know that the Drifter is the central character in the promotional material, and we know that the setting is within the void. How we get there it still up in the air. I personally don't think they would expand on the Zariman right away, but I would like to see some aspect of the Duviri Paradox reveal more of what the Drifter's life was like on their timeline.

I am surprised you didn't go into the Enigma of Amigara Fault, given the correlations that could be drawn between the Void, the Void Angels, and the Holdfasts. In The Enigma of Amigara Fault, people, upon finding their hole, were inexplicably drawn to it. Entranced by it, ensorcelled, their minds wrapped within its embrace, with their bodies soon to follow. The holes were believed to be torture devices in a way, a horrifying way to die as one's body was slowly crushed by the distortions in the stone that allowed one to only slip further in, never back out, and the tunnel warped and shrank. Instead, somehow, the exits were found, and while those who went in did not die in the medical sense, they came out so _changed_ that they may as well have been dead. The song - the void - is the Holdfasts' holes, and Kira, who knew the others well, was forever changed by going through her hole, now willing to point out the holes for the other Holdfasts. Death or change... and no guarantee that change wouldn't be death by another name. The only salvation was that, in a moment of clarity and fortune, the Holdfasts managed to find a new hole, one which would not warp them so severely, and the only change would be to be cured of the need to seek out the other holes. To live out their new lives - changed, yes, but still alive.

I did allude to it in the video, but the main reason I didn't go into it is that I am a wuss when it comes to horror. So i didn't want to reread The Enigma of Amigara Fault. But I do like your interpretation and recontextualization of the themes. Perhaps if I had reread it, I could have drawn a similar take-away.

considering what we were learning in the classrooms doesn't seem like common material, I have always figured the future tenno and their parents were likely some middle caste/middle class. Maybe living on one of the many stations that once existed in the system. As we see in some railjack there is clearly some old Orokin orbitals that have certainly seen better days. odd note if not for the whole void storm problem, I wonder if the Zariman were pulled fully into real space if things like the void growths and even angels would decay away.

I think they are pretty clear that if the Zariman were pulled out then it would just be a massive, stable rift into the void. And I think we can theorize that the Zariman passengers weren't in the lowest caste of Orokin society, but definitely not of any position of authority.

I wouldn't say Angels of the Zariman is inspired by the film annihilqtion and more Lovecraftian/cosmic horror. Where there are beings and realities beyond human comprehansion. If a human tries to comprehened they either go mad or twisted into undescribeble monsters.

The New Strange genre is also highly influence by Cosmic Horror, and there are a few narrative-style choices which i attempted to recreate in my script that highlight that Annihilation is a source material. Such as references to "the light" in the tenno child (a frequent motif in the novel), and placing emphasis on words conjugated to end in "-tion," even where excessive or inappropriate. Plus, we know that DE writers are aware of the genre, because the Simaris quest looking for Chroma is named after the genre of fiction. It's quite a lot of coincidences lining up.

Yeah, it's definitely a frustration. Especially if you cannot work playing the game into a lifestyle where you play only a reasonable amount a day. (I definitely spent far too many years playing HOURS daily). At the same time, the hardcore players would find all of the content in a matter of hours rather than a matter of days/weeks. Developers work on these updates for years, so i can see the logic in requiring people to savor it at least a little.

I am working on improving this for future videos. The main challenge is that warframe's gunplay /combat sfx are so much louder than the rest of the game. So i have been tweaking the balance both through in-game settings and in post-production. This one was focused on balancing for mobile phone speakers. My apologies to your ears; the next one on VeilBreaker is, imo, better balanced for all devices/headphones

Personally, once we are talking about void space magic and faster than light travel, we are so far beyond the realm of what we are currently capable of doing/imagining. Yes, the correction has come in plenty of times. I at least commend you for having a reason to see it as relevant to the story. Though I don't agree. It is a massive, space-faring civilization that just so happened to fail to go further due to their hubris. That's the relevant narrative from my perspective.

A galaxy refers to a cluster of billions of stars. Planets are tiny in the grand scheme of things. That scaling issue is kind of the whole deal with the orokin expansion mentality, the sentients existence, and why they were set on launching a solar system poisoning warp hop instead of just building a rail network out and having a few months of travel - the mix of how tiny the origin system is and the orokin hubris is a huge angle for the scaling mattering. Grumble, grouse, grognard noises trailing off into the distance.

Im confused about the relationship between the drifter and operator. Is the drifter an alternate timeline version of the operator? Where the zarimen was never recovered and the sole survivor was the operator? And how does the duviri paradox factor into this? Is it a void plane created by the drifter that allowed him to survive all these years?

Well you don't seem all that confused to me. haha. So assuming you have seen The New War, rather than timelines - think in terms of probability. Think of the zariman children each as a range of possibilities. TMITW came and, faustian bargain style, saved them and created the children's void powers. Wally did this by collapsing every probable, alternate outcome of the child into the one. This child becomes the Tenno. The Drifter is the one outcome where they didnt take Wally's deal, so the quantum wave function (the probability) never collapsed into 1 actuality. Rather they stayed in the void. The Drifter isn't "real" in the same material sense, because that only matters in the Origin System - in material reality. That brings us to Duviri, which is not yet fully explained. What we know is that Duviri was made by the Drifter, than it is not very deep into the void/just on the other side of the Zariman. (You can literally look at Zariman skyboxes and see Duviri, and from Duviri you can see the Zariman.) So Duviri is a place, from the fragments we know that it experiences time/change. But it is also in the void, so it plays by the void's rules. What is "Void"? > It is ranges of probability and energy / Quantum Mechanics from a mostly Copenhagen interpretation. What is "Conceptual Embodiment"? > Thought + Void = Stuff. In Duviri's case, Duviri is the stuff. It is just subjected to the whims of the Thought that brings it into being (whether that be Thrax or the Drifter, whatever Their relationship.) So while it is material like places in the origin system, it is also probabilistic. As a story, however, Duviri is a metaphorical representation of The Drifter and/or Thrax's mind and emotions.

The Jade Light is a ritual execution, yes. The answer to your question is "Conceptual Embodiement." All of the holdfast characters actually died during the Zarimen accident. These people are manifestations of their conciousnesses interacting with the void.

That was not the Jade Light. That was a Void Gate. A portal into the void. It just happened tk be colored greenish in that scene. They are usually blue-ish, but can also be a purple with stars, Stargate looking thing you see in some missions.

Im talking nonsense when i wonder if the man in the wall is an inversion more than a reflection. An inversion of your timeline. Albrect was a coward when he entered/exited the void. Then as he fought his demon he grew indifferent to his family and love picking up "courage" to let them go. Changing so much we wonder if he had been body swapped.Then they offered the deal it could have been our savyness in making big decisions we grow into. When Harrow happened, we werent even sure Wally was real, or an imaginary friend to Rell. I find it best not to try to figure out what Wally is, and see the dynamic as most important

I'm make no attempt to hide that the operator exacerbates the problems of the system through factions sections of the first video. I already understood the "tenno are the baddies" perspective. However, to completely dismiss a pivot in story direction for a game that has run this long, i don't think that's productive analysis. The thing I'm disagreeing with is your saying, "I don't give a rat's ass about trauma." and " I want a whole ship to myself." My friend, I do give a rat's ass about trauma. I believe the story has earned these moments by having the operator awakening to their memories of themselves gradually, from The Second Dream to now that has been a consistent theme. Hi AJ, I think I can help lay out a timeline, especially now that we know so much more from this quest. 1) Zariman was the first planned trip to the Tau System after Orokin sent the Sentient to scout ahead. 2) They wanted one, massive leap because they thought they knew enough about void-travel for the trip to go perfectly. 3) The people on the ship rebelled after they heard this plan, and the Orokin subjects started rebelling. (Good to remember that the Zariman is absolutely massive. It is basically the population of a large city on one vessel. Judging from the skyboxes and elevator scene.) 4) The Seven, Executor Tuval, ordered the jump to proceed as scheduled. They kicked up the reliquary drive. Then, Titanic meet Mr. Iceberg, The Man in The Wall showed up. The jump failed. Eventually a rescue attempt was made and that is when the tenno were found. 5) The Zariman is then lost to the void rift, only to re-emerge with this quest.

@@SocraTetris Sorry if I was arrogant in my commentary. I view the Annihilation movie ( never read the book ) quite like a parallel interpretation of the novel Color out of Space. And I really loved the movie, sad that most of the people I know hated it. This "The New Strange" genre clearly borrows very obvious cosmic horror elements, but cosmic horror is so broad and has generated so many great ideas, like Bloodborne, Control and many other games and media. I think Warframe is going into that direction, starting with Zariman. They could very much reveal the Man in the Wall to be an Eldrich like figure and there will be many more terrible and powerful things in the depths of space, like Tau. The Void as an entity is much like the Color in the Lovecraft novel and as the Zone in the Annihilation. But that is the great thing about the genre, you can put your own spin into it and it will be ever richer.

It's a very interesting video, but the sound levels are seriously problematic. Your voice is set to100%, but all the other voices are like 10% or so. I need to adjust my volume up and down all the time so that your voice doesn't shatter my ears and so that I can actually hear what everyone else is saying. It's a super common thing and pretty much every channel makes this same mistake when editing. Anyway, as a result of this mistake, I couldn't finish watching this video.

It's actually a 100%-70% split. not so much of a mistake as it is having to fight the native sound levels of the game. This quest in particular had the voice lines levelled much lower than the sfx like abilities and gunfire. And so that the sfx dont constantly blow out people's ears (even after i lowered them in my in-game options) I had to keep the voice lines lower. I'm always working on incremental improvements, but i have to work with what I was given

I have tweaked sound and voice setting even more after this recoeding, but My suggestion would be to play the video on a phone, and watch it to see and be assisted by the subtitles. A phone speaker will bring the treble through without bass interference to audibility. And seeing the subtitles will help the words standout from the noise. Trust, I have watched it all the way through, dozens of times. I'm the one who made it. I know about the sound levels

Agreed I think one of the most fun things Warframe ever did was those 8 man missions.

PvP needs to be re-thought. The current state of gameplay in the game makes PvP too fast and too frantic. Though I must say, PvP will bring significant activity into the game; with a working version of it, no longer is grinding and fashion-framing the only option at the late stages of the game.

Wait, are you saying that cross play screwed ul those systems, or that those systems arent available in cross play? I play almost exlcusively solo, so I dont engage with that part of the game much

@@moshumusable that's Sony's doing. They wanted to have a piece of the money pie and as a result, we got cross play limitations. I'm sure there will be Cross save limitations when it comes. I wouldn't be surprised if Sony would be just as responsible for limitations on cross save should it have any.
