Khymerae. Chaos panthers. Which would be the least desirable scent of any ridiculous 40k body spray. As if Warhammer sci-fi's skinned version of a chimera mythological monster wasn't bad enough. Any connection to the Warp has to be horrible. These creatures sound as though they exude auras from within a sanitarium - or simply a Chaos planet in the Immaterium. Those back spines, no matter which universe's iteration of these fictional fixtures, always add a...prehistoric look. With a final terror in spider's eyes always being inhuman enough to be unsettling just to look at. The Medusae's correlation to the druhkari through a perceived origin or territory in the Warp had led me to initially anticipate more blatant parallels to those Age of Sigmar versions but that's where similarities stop, from my perspective. Those things come across as Half Life's head crabs joined with Kuato from “Total Recall”...floating around for hosts like void jellyfish. As creepy as any proper entity of the Warp. The captain's little pocketbook of horrors. H.R. Giger body horror, that is. Neither the nightmare big cats nor the soul-draining skull-octopi from Hell are specimens I'd wanna study any closer than from orbit, thanks. Certainly not while aboard a randomly shape-shifting alien space station. For that sake, you have my gratitude once again for this entry from Drake's diary of danger and death-defying, Narrator.
