Orks and Tyranids should have no trouble attacking a hive world as well. Both xenos can evolve or are tough enough to withstand the toxic or irradiated wasteland and have been known to infest the lower levels of the hive. Orks would send rocks to smash into the hive while Tyranid will GENESTEALER their way in.

Thomas Spettel agreed, but let's face it if nids are invading your world is dead, either they eat it or you get exterminatus. Only if a few chapters and a massive chunk of e segmentum battlefleet turn up do you stand a chance against the smaller splinter fleets. Orks are tough enough but most waaaaghs are a lot smaller than that on armeggdon so hive defenders stand a chance, it's going to be more a classic siege and orks love that kind of close up tunnel fighting they are more like to try taking a place with sluggas and choppers than spoil the fun grassing the place :D

Yeah the genestealer cults would be a problem and would attack the defenders in the event of an invasion for sure, most of the time they are the ones who draw the hivefleets to the world, acting as a beacon to the hivemind. You know, telling me there is good eating here or somthing like that :D

6:05 (rockcrete) lol Hive worlds especially Terra is like Jerusalem is now. The place has been conquered burned down and sacked and rebuilt so many times most people don't even know that the "hills of jerusalem" is just from building city on top of a broken city on top of a broken city etc... over 24 times now. The first version of jerusalem had a river flowing through it, as its uphill from any natural water source these days that seems impossible but when joint teams of archaeologist dug deep enough low and behold their was a natural river, and it wasn't ground water in a natural sense it was normal river water that happened to flow under the 24 layers of jerusalem. I wonder if they tapped it for cleaning water or left it flowing...

aww a heart, thanks buddy. You'll be getting some of my patreon cash for this. I need to stop supporting some people anyway... Hopefully we can do at least 5 bucks a month maybe 10! I just support so many people now its a 300 dollar monthly expense! I'm totally willing and happy to pay it but its basically a large bill, or if i still drank beer/ smoke cigarettes. Shit adds up...

hey i stole it from somewhere it's all good lol, Plus my dads Israeli so I've been to "the holy land" (let's not get people in a quibble about what we should call it) plenty of times everybody ASSUMES jericho being the oldest city without ever not having people in it would have the thickest layers. buts its not a strategic or tactical target nor does it have the tri religious importance of Jerusalem. This is why Jerusalem is waaay more fun to go into the bowels of , they have these glass elevators that descend really slowly on purpose so you can just see time go backwards. It's like moving down the inside of an ice core but of human history as opposed to mostly pre-human history.

I think, canonically, there are approximately 32000 hive worlds out of roughly one million Imperial worlds (ref. 5th edition rulebook datafile of the hive world Minea). Seeing as Necromunda alone has over a 1000 hives, there are probably millions of individual hives.

10:05 oooh so THATs whats "north of the wall" hmm never would have suspected it was a hive... Then again brits will be brits, what? you guys invented 40k you technically invented hive worlds as so far as i know they are your introduction to fiction and only similar but not nearly as grandiose structures had been proposed in the past. Ironically by Brits! In the 2000AD series with Judge "you think i give a fuck" Dredd riding around on a badass motorcycle that has guns in front and the space marine aesthetic steals from the bikes and the adeptus Arbites are quite literally just an army of Judge Dredd's...its too badass...
