Skaven politics are the best-best! Thanks for covering this! I've always wondered how the guy managed to stay alive, turns out he doesn't. It's great finding out about these more "obscure" characters! Also, Skaven duels atop the great bell tower sound amazing.

Funny how Clan Pestilens and Nurgle have a common trait of spreading disease but still they are enemies.

If Nurglich is an inherited persona, then how does that work with the council? Has each successor touched the Pillar of Commandments, and what about the duel? Does a new aspirant from Pestilence duel the current Nurglich when he gets to old? The council seems to have never been very fond of Pestilence, so you'd think they wouldn't let a new pestilence lord onto the council without putting as hard of a fight in their way as possible. Or do they just go along with the idea that Pestilence can just pick a successor, because they maybe have come to value Pestilence and want to keep them on the council? This gets complicated.

Well the entirety of the Council of 13 hasn’t been altered for 200 years so perhaps nobody has bothered trying. But if I had to guess, perhaps the initiation of becoming the Arch’s possible replacement must involve going to the pillar before he could inherit the title. That way you would at least make sure there would be an available lord of decay for Pestilence in case the current lord dies.

This made me think at something. Is there an actual lore based connection with Horned Rat, Clan Pestilens and Nurgle.

Not many council members had rules or models so they probably wanted to keep it as the high ranking members :)

@@TheGreatBookofGrudges I kinda like the idea to keep the council 'elusive' entity that rarely personally takes part on anything. Almost nothing is something that can't be delegated to underlings to handle and keep yourself away from harms way. I find it fitting for Skaven
