What i loved about old world empire was you could have some peacock nobleman's son with a gilded chestplate and a donkeyfaced peasant who cannot afford shoes fight side by side as brothers
Man, I love empire. Though other factions like the Tomb Kings, Skaven, and High Elves are cool too. Nothing, in my personal opinion, beats the sheer determination and fighting spirit of the yak of human factions like Kislev and the Empire of Man. Though not as strong as Dwarves or Orcs, or as smart and skilled in magic as Elves, people in the world of Warhammer have something that makes their courage, determination and ingenuity more impressive than in any other faction. Because although they are aware of their weaknesses and limitations, they do not give up, they just keep pushing forward without giving up to despair. And for that I adore them.
same with me as warhammer 40k, imperial guard, in the universe where demi-god and invisible daemon everywhere, imperial guard standing as normal human, equip just with only lasgun, but they face the most horrible thing in universe.
The Empire: they're normal dudes who's only advantages are things like gunpowder and steel, most of which is shared with many of their neighbors. Yet they throw down with all sorts of monsters and fucking win despite having only a limited amount of supernatural stuff to their name.
The Empire: "Surprise motherfucker." (Proceeds to do all sorts of nasty Slaaneshi things to daemons, dragons, trolls, giants, ogres, greenskins, beastmen, skaven, Norsca, Bretonnia, etc...), seems about right to me. Magnus the Pious would be proud.
Yeah after getting fucked over by both their allies and enemies. Standing their ground in middenheim, taking as much as they can killing as much as many chaos lords with them and making up the bulk of the order's army.
Alarak And then Age of Shitmar happened. If CA manages to get GW to resurrect Warhammer Fantasy and bring themselves back from the brink of oblivion with Total War Warhammer 2's expansions and 3, maybe we'll get lucky and see the true Sons of Sigmar return. Not more of this Land Marines shit.
No the Empire of Sigmar is based off of the Holy-Roman Empire in real like...no other cultural-influences except those that the HRE had itself...so a little bit of all of Europe a bit of French, a bit of Scandinavian(especially Danish whom they shared a border) a little Italian BUT they WERE German no less and they influenced those cultures as well...like the greatswords unit is LITTERALLY just copy-paste from real-life landsknecht and just everything about them SCREAMS Holy-Roman.
Jake Slayer And the floppy poofiness covering grizzled gruff veterans with codpieces stuffed to bursting with artificial manliness... ahh... glorious Empire...
