@@Zorvax Never heard about this game before even tho Im a Warhammer fan, your video gave me a spark that was gone for some time, THANK YOU and greetings from brazil.
I can't say enough about how much we love to see this sort of content. The fact that the community is still holding strong after all of these years means more to the devs than you will ever know. Thank you!
@@Thranotheoneandonly i played shaman and my friend was a choppa, had a lot of fun times and as a choppa he in fact got bind rage XD in middle of the army slaugtering enemies on some times he forget to manage the rage meter XD so it did kind of go into the class. like hey whay did you not heal me and then oh after seeing all the surviving enemies XD that was a fun moment a perfect choppa
Thanks for the hard work you put into it. And the nostalgia. I haven't played return to recovering in 6 months or so. Ironically I got busier in the pandemic. But I have the server still installed. I dabble in everything really. But since we can't play as vampire counts, the dark elves would be my second favorite army on tabletop.
If I play with a friend and He picks a Dwarf, and I picked a High Elf is there a way to play together from the start, or do we have to level up alone till we meet later?
I have to say, i played warhamer when it was live. But I absolutely LOVE the fantasy in this game and the classes (Warrior priest is my favorite, followed by witch hunter) I really wish this would of continued, engine update, ect kinda like how wow did it. It could of been an insane game with alot of potential (Still has that potential if its revived)
I think that there was a lack of pve content. I had fun in pvp, actually played the most pvp compared to other games but I missed some pve content. Especially with a IP like Warhammer
If I play with a friend and He picks a Dwarf, and I picked a High Elf is there a way to play together from the start, or do we have to level up alone till we meet later?
This is still the BEST mmo ... no other MMO does it right. It just needed a little longer to work on some of the PvE stuff, for said heavy PvE players, without taking away form the "RvR". The PvP was what the game was based around, and the PvE aspect built you up for that. the story pulled you into the conflict-emotionally. And made you *feel* like a part of the race and class you were playing. The RvR controlled a lot of the PvE areas, which was BRILLIANT. I really wish they would revive this - THANK YOU FOR KEEPING IT ALIVE !!! It STILL is my favorite video game , hands down. Like of all video games, this is it for me. I legit cried when I heard it was closing. Ia m downloading it as I type and watch this. I didn't know the private servers had kept it alive , till NOW!

This game had/has a unique mix of things that appealed instantly to me. In every other mmo : you start off, do some quests, grind kills on PvE mobs and thats your only reliable way of gaining experience as a character to develop it. After several levels you may or may not gain access to PvP which doesnt give you shit, well maybe you get a pvp lvl but thats unrelated to your regular lvl which still blocks access to stuff until you get to certain levels (like mounts or higher lvl requirement dungeons and such that require regular lvl). But still you can only level up/develop your character (in most cases) through quests and/or grinding (killing mobs/PvE). Whilst in this game : you can go do quests or grind the regular shebang that every other mmo does. But you can also right from the start queue up for pvp scenario (battlegrounds in wow) or just go and do some world pvp AS A LEVEL 1 CHARACTER, and all of that will get you XP + PvP XP + PvP items + regular items. Death is only few seconds of waiting to respawn you don't loose anything apart from your selfrespect. You get right back into action. Community loved the game so much that this officialy dead game still lives as a free to play server created and maintained by loyal fans which did a better jobs than devs in case of mainting it and developing it further. Thus Return of Reckoning and this video.
Yeah well said, it was so easy to get into the PvP in this game and it wasn't just fun but useful too. I still remember the open world pvp in Nordland for the objectives on that beach, it was up to level 11 or 12, really fun stuff
@@ajunta2270 in fact at times it was so much fun that ppl locked away their lvling just to stay in t1/t2/t3 indefinetly because you've had so much fun in those zones. T4 was the problem where your barely equipped toon could get chewed up in seconds when you meet up some 60+ renown rank killer. T4 needed polishing but once you got a good group going and managed to go through to 60+ renown rank.. then the fun begins. You stopped being fodder (operation human shield commence!) and started to compete. You could observe the spike of power when you were entering your last scenarios where most of the other guys were at least few levels below you. You were getting kills left and right. Man those were fun times.

@@sdb7092 afaik you both start in different areas elf in elf lands, and dwarf in dwarf lands but its really easy to get toegether rather quickly if you go to nearest flight master.
I played Chosen back in the day. I was the 1st player on my server to hit Max level. Loved the game and was sad to see it die. There were so many promises before release, future expansions that add in different factions capital cities, more content, etc.
Played this WAY back when it was live service an such. Cool to see this and glad to be getting back into it. Your vid helped my wife get started. Good shit dude man 🤘

Why are you comparing this to WoW lmfao... its an RvR game WoW is mainly PvE lmfao... it was never intended to compete with lol WoW... as for communities? nah WoW's def more toxic especially with their elitists. I think you mean the shit talk? That comes with the RvR territory, not really an excuse honestly but kids will be kids.
I just returned to returned to RoR after like 3-4 years and it is still great fun. Though I there are a lot of aspects of the game now that I find anything but enjoyable. You can really feel the fact that this game consists of a very big portion of long time players who seem know the game in and out, and since its only one server you run into them a lot. For example there are two things to do while leveling, that is Scenarios and RVR sieges. From my experience scenarios are not how I used to remember them, they only last a couple of minutes now and usually one side completely rolls over the others, after you hit 17 you will run into a lot of 35+ characters with reduced xp pots that does ridiculous amount of damage and are seemingly immortal. Just be prepared to put in a lot of hours of being completely dunked on untill eventually you might have enough gear and knowledge of the game to be effective in rvr. It is a very fun games at times but has a lot of flaws.
i see ror as a ruined good opportunity, loved it from t1 to t4,then dev team lost some good members, and the game became just a mess, with constant frustrating changes to the classes
I just made up my mind about dedicating my playtime to RoR and this video was just perfect. Thank you very much my dude I cannot wait to see my Chosen blossom into a death machine.
I remember my warrior priest named "AwesomePriest" and my brightwizard companion named "Builder" We tore it up in PvP. Those classes were so OP when this game first dropped
I thought this game was totaly dead...Had no idea this was still around...my wife loved this game and was one of the top 15 healers on our server and could consistently win matches on order side... which if anyone remembers the way the game was balanced back then was really tough to do...great video
Loved this game. Tried almost every class. Chosen was amazing with this addon that let you switch between auras quickly and repeatedly for max efficiency. Knight of the blazing sun is the mirror. That "3 auras at once" is important to note and without that add on to help you manage it, it was prerty difficult to stay up with it I also remember something where i could get really cool and powerful armor pretty quickly. I forgot how exactly but many people didnt even know about it because they would be using a ragtag assortment of.gear while i could quickly assemble matching gear for myself that looked amazing and was appropriate to my level. I think it was some kind of renown merchant or some such idk. Some people knew and others didnt. Also, Dwarves are hilarious but deadly. Those engineers were a bitch to deal with. High elves had a bunch of fun classes too. Swordmasters were one of my favorites just because they had this skill that had knockback and i would throw people off mountains all the time lmfao
I really liked this game back in 08. I was so disappointed they weren't able to continue improving it, to compete with other titles going on at the time.
So bright wizards and dark elf sorcerer's are mirror images of each other. The nuker class. With both single target and AoE as well as AoE that radiates outward from them in a circle. But yea you have to watch out for the backlash. You build up as you cast increased chance casting backfiring and causing you damage. But there is an ability you can click to release all that backlash build up into single target damage. So you cast to build up backlash, release it on an enemy, rinse and repeat. In between combats backlash naturally decreases over time as well. I hope this helps. Also I didn't hear it mentioned but: the game defaults everyone to the chaos vs empire campaign when you make a character. What you can do is take the portal at the start to switch over to your own army campaign and do the level 1+ pve quests for your own army instead. Like I ran to the portal on my goblin shaman and switched to the very beginning of the goblins vs dwarves campaign.
I always ask myself: "how is it possible that the lizardmen never EVER get implemented in such games?" I mean it would be easy to push them to the forces of order but except for TW:WH they NEVER get utilized
If the game hadn't been abandoned they would probably have been added alongside Skaven, Ogres and Tomb Lords and/or Vampire Counts. It had so many possibilities and I would love an official sequel.
Man, I played this back when it was live, and it was such a good game. I still wish more MMOs would steal their targeting system. Being able to have a "friendly" target AND a "hostile" target at the same time really promotes being able to seamlessly switch between healing/buffing/etc, and attacking. Makes it so healers aren't stuck sitting there with an ally targeted waiting for them to take damage, but instead lets you spend your "waiting" time blasting your enemies. It's also what allowed classes like the warrior priest and disciple of khaine to function, with hitting the enemy also healing an ally at the same time.
If I play with a friend and He picks a Dwarf, and I picked a High Elf is there a way to play together from the start, or do we have to level up alone till we meet later?
@@sdb7092 It's been forever since I played, and it might have changed since it was live, but it's technically possible, but not easy. One of you would need to make your way over to the starting area for the other faction, and then party up. I think the quests in the super early intro zones are race specific, but I might be remembering that wrong. Either way, once you finish the "tutorial" zones, you should both be able to meet up and quest/farm together with no issues.
One of the risks of playing on RoR is that you can get banned easily. I got a 15 day ban for what I think was a misunderstanding, and when I was researching RoR I ran across similar reports from others, saying the devs are ban-happy. Considering that nobody reached out to me about my appeal, and that these bans stay on your record, I decided I'm not going to continue to invest time in characters on RoR.
I came back to this game in 2020 and fucking LOVED IT. Best mmo experience I've had when the game initially released.. Then in 2020 I fell in love again. But I tried to come back a few weeks ago.. And the servers feel somewhat dead? From 3500 on all the time to 300 max? I assume the content ran out and people left? I'd love to return, but I miss the massive 400vs400 battles!
If I play with a friend and He picks a Dwarf, and I picked a High Elf is there a way to play together from the start, or do we have to level up alone till we meet later?
Played this game until the servers went down. Witch Elf, Marauder and Runepriest were my jam, glad to see it has been revived and still going strong. Alas, I have no more time for mmos between work and school.

The original Age of Reckoning was a game with scenarios full of solo players and RvR areas full of solo players. And it had an average of 3k players playing at anytime. In this server , it's only premade parties against other premades, 200 people playing in both sides . most of them GM alts and their friends and with boosted characters (ofcourse they will deny this). If you like geting bullied by GMs ....this is your game !!
Would be good to have an explanation of the 'ward' system for armour set unlocks, I'm at career rank 32 and I've only just started to get to grips with how this works, I see a lot of guide videos telling you to work toward getting a particular armour set, but no-one ever explains how to do that, and the game doesn't explain it at all.
Thank you!! It's really the main game I've been playing lately and I really enjoy making videos for it, I just need to keep increasing my knowledge of the game so I don't make too much of a fool of myself lmao
Wish I could play this, loved it when it was live. Computer I have now cant handle it though. I played live from opening day until the servers were shut down
Comming from WoW I tried WAR when it came out back then. I played the tabletop excessively and was exited to see this world in moving color. Compared to WoW I was disapointed. The Quest givers stood nailed to there places and did not even have body movement. Also the surface of the water looked plat like a table.
Honestly was pretty solid game just lacked what seemed like end game progression I never got too much into the end game but the leveling experience was super fun, theres tons of little achievements or titles you can earn which broke up questing add on the pvp queueing anywhere for also some xp all of it added alot of flavor to the leveling process. Was kinda surprised that the end game was so sparse, it had alot of potential just needed abit more time in development to make sure the end game was there, cause much like age of conan they kind of banked on the leveling experience buying more time then it did, but people speed run leveling in reality even if its their first time through so it ended up with people hitting cap with not a whole lot of progression.
Judging by the way it's handled it's still pretty dead : "devs" only buffing the classes they play, Order biased cause devs only play Order, bugs insta fixed for Destro classes but taking a way long time on mirror Order classes (look at the github 2 years and more for Slayers things but the same bug on Choppa fixed within 1 week), etc.
God I always wondered what happened to players I played w/ and against. Can't even remember the server name but some of the names I remember were Taco, Renn & ARM & the guild JTT.
Devs never managed to ballance the original game. And im not talking about class vs class ballance. The discrepancy between organized players and the zerg was insane. We had a pro guild and i remember just ~30 of us could easily faceroll any quantities of randoms. Im talking hundreds and hundreds of them. Scenarios where a premade was pitted against disorganized noobies were just pointless for a usual player. And apart from zergatronning there was not much to do in the game.
If I play with a friend and He picks a Dwarf, and I picked a High Elf is there a way to play together from the start, or do we have to level up alone till we meet later?
After playing for an hour or so, the game keeps logging me off no matter which character I use. No error is shown afterwards. Sadly, this game is not playable for me.
This is a game that aged very very badly, but I had a full year of fond memories of dealing with a shitty guild while all the RvR lakes were insta capped by Russian zergs. Ahhhh fun times indeed
Meanwhile I was in a guild whose leader could strategically command us and destroy zergs with only 30 of us... sounded like your guild needed to get gud.
I played Warhammer online back when it came out for quite a while as a Shaman. But as a healer it was incredibly painfull to do anything solo and the game had so many massive imbalance problems that I quit after clearing that egyptian raid. Is this private server still having problems with class imbalance?
You serious? just literally spec DPS... you will out dps most classes AND outheal healers...LMAO... youll be stacking up so much waaagh youll auto heal/rez people like a minigun.
Shaman and Archmages actually do shit tons of damage...just saying, you can play them as straight DPS with SUPPORT healing just as well as the reverse =3 ... people can bitch all they want but I was racking up top damage AND heals consistently back in the day easy with both the Archmage and Shaman.
