I disagree a lot with this ranking. For example, Greatbow Ushabtis make solid counter to tanky, flying skirmishers like pegasus knights or gyrocopters. In my opinion they are one of the better options in special slots.

Your tier list is interesting,i don't agree with evrything but it seems that everybody can agree with the scorpions,necrosphinx and catapult. Personally i love thé necrotect with tomb guards. With his ability and halberds you have at least 10 attacks strong 5 with reroll and killing blow. That's pretty tough !
@AllOutWarAu
@AllOutWarAu 2 месяца назад
tomb guards only have cleaving blow. the issue that i have with necrotect is that you are paying 55 point for the eternal task ability, which only works 58% of the time without a battle standard bearer to babysit him. If you include the BSB, then the probability increases to 82%, but then you are paying 140 points for this. a bit too much IMO>

@@AllOutWarAu No,don't include in it,but the BSB have to be near and is useful for other capacities. And the necrotect is stronger than a single champion and have the double attacks and reroll for touch can stop your ennemy of charging this unit.

You rate greatbow ushabti pretty low, and fair enough as the total damage output goes way down, but great blade ushabti are very slow in combat and really not that tough, with only T4, 3w, heavy armor, and 6+ regen, it feels like most targets that you'd need that kind of output against are going to go first and drop a couple ushabti before they swing. Greatbow ushabti attack at a pretty incredible range, considering they have no penalties for moving or long range, and are fairly threatening to enemy war machines, which otherwise threaten your monsters. I find a couple units of 3 bowshabti are solid support for monster spamming TK lists for this reason, particularly in Mortuary Cult where you can take one of those units as core (plus a necrosphinx in special). All that said, I don't exactly dispute your overall tier 4 rating for ushabti in general. imo they're kind of boarderline between T4 and T3. I just don't think the greatbows rate any lower than the blades. They're just different tools. In contrast, I think you're maybe overestimating the regular archers a bit. 5+ to hit, S3, no ap, one damage... even if you invest a hero in them to get poison a reasonably sized unit of 20 is still only going to get 2-3 poisoned hits plus another 2-3 hits that need to roll to wound. Sure in theory you could take them larger then that, but as you increase the width the unit gets super unweildy pretty fast, and if you just increase the depth then you're paying double per shot for volley fire - and that's if you're able to volley fire in the first place - sometimes you just need to move. Heck, a big part of the bonus of arrows of asaph is that you ignore the penalty for doing so, relying on volley fire just puts that penalty back. I don't think regular tomb kings archers (or especially the skirmishers) are ~bad~ mind. Just not top tier. Maybe tier 3.

In the game, a 5-point model with a consistent 5+ hit rate and a 6+ regen save stands out as exceptional value. The essence of the game lies in optimising value exchange, where leveraging fewer points for greater impact is key to success. The ranking of units into tiers isn't solely based on their intrinsic quality. Rather, it's a reflection of the value they offer relative to their points cost. For example, the Greatbow Ushabtis, whose effectiveness is undeniable if not for their steep price of 49 points each. When writing army lists, I often face tough decisions, such as choosing between Necropolis Knights and Ushabti units. This decision-making process revolves around assessing which unit provides greater versatility and utility throughout the game, ultimately influencing my placement within tier rankings.

Insane to me you put the Necrotect in Tier 5 as a useless unit. Not only amazing at buffing a block of infantry like you mentioned but chances are if you're sticking a character in the unit, he's going to be alongside a Monarch of some sort. Run a block of spears for example 10 wide and come back to me. His buff lasts until the start of next turn meaning if he dies it still works in your opponents turn as well. I can't help but feel you haven't played enough games and/or enough opponents with different skill sets and army lists to have drawn these conclusions. In fact, nobody has as yet. Ushabti are still great in combat with Great Bows. Reaching out and touching a unit with a 30" 4+ is great. Royal Herald in Tier 4? I'm really confused as to how you rate a Necrolith Colossus in Tier 3. Now, they're hot garbage. You pay for a rule that hardly ever triggers due to their poor WS. Also, Casket of Souls Tier 3? Seriously are we playing the same game? You don't take this for the Light of Protection. Light of Death all the way. Combined with Catapults with Skulls of the Foe like you've mentioned and you've got a winning combination. Cannons should drop this immediately.

Hey there. Thank you for the comment. As I have mentioned in the video, I don't think Necrotect is bad, I think he is overpriced. With only Ld7 and can't use general Ld. he only has a 59% chance to activate eternal taskmaster, which means it will need a royal herald and a monarch to make the whole thing worthwhile. a unit of 30 skeleton warriors with these characters in it will cost you at least 425 points. I just question whether or not it is worth that many points invested in a single infantry unit. For the Ushabti with a great bow, again, I have an issue with the cost relative to the value delivered. In a unit of 4, you are swapping out 12 strength 6 AP3 attacks for 4 strength 6 great bow shots. In my opinion, it is not an equivalent trade. Royal Heralds is tier 4, because its use is situational, if you like to run a big combat block with my will be done and eternal taskmaster etc, then he is 100% worth it. but again, too many points are invested in a single unit as mentioned above. I rated Necrolith Colossus in tier 3 because it is one of the very few Behemoth that is strength 6 and toughness 6 and is under 200 points. It is also on a very small base compared to other behemoths, which allows you to sneak him into a position that other behemoths can't. you can easily fit one in a smaller 1000-1500 points game, and it is very difficult to remove when there aren't as many tools available to deal with toughness 6. Casket of Souls is placed in tier 3 because it can't move and I have already provided the reasons why it is at that tier in the video.

@@AllOutWarAu Greatbows on Ushabti hit on Str 6. Melee Ushabti seem meh, ranged are great character/monster snipers.

Is there an faq ruling confirming that necrotect buff lasts even if they die? My reading is that killing the tect would kill the buff, since he's no longer attached to the unit. Would love to be wrong though, as it makes a big difference on whether or not he's any good.
@AllOutWarAu
@AllOutWarAu 2 месяца назад
@@Malisteen the effect lasts to your next start of turn-sub-phase. so if your opponents kill the necrotect in your combat phase, you still get the bonus in your opponent's combat phase until your next start of turn sub-phase.

Stopped watching after the skeleton horsemen. You just look at their raw damage output. But not at the special rules. Heavy cav and horde means a static combat result of +2 add in a banner and only Spears on a unit of twelve (4 by 3) and for just 162 points you have a decent outnumbering, fear causing static combat result unit that can disrupt pretty well.

The archers are a mandatory unit like the Spearmen. They are just about as effective as the Spearmen in melee but lose the shield for a range attack. With ap -1 being common, it makes them the much better option for the mandatory unit in list building.

@@Omalley69as a Woodelf player I hate them. They cost next to nothing. S3 is enough to hurt elves, and no AP isnt a dealbreaker vs an army where units usualy have between 5+ and no save. Plus they hit on 5s, even vs my skirmishers in forests. Its not like they win the game. But they perform realy well vs my army. I would wager HE amd DE feel the same. And yes ,they can easily be killed.. but I would prefer to shoot at larger threats.

You make an important mistake in this video- the battlestandard doesnt allow you to reroll all ld. test! And I dont think you value the ushabti bows enough. 30 inch str. 6 shooting is really really good, especially when you always hits on 4 and do multiple wounds.
