I couldn’t agree more. I’m 35 now and still sit and listen. Reminisce on better times. Now everybody went and got married and had kids while I sit alone wishing there’s days were still a thing.

This is the most comforting noise I could ever hear. I remember during the summertime I would stay outside with my sister and we would just swim until about 8 o’ clock at night splashing around in the pool with this sound in the background. It was magical. I remember going outside in the spring and riding my bike until dark and just listening to this sound while my dad did yard work and my mom cooked dinner. I remember staying up til 3 o’ clock in the morning and running outside with my cousin and sister into my garage to get food with this sound in the background. I remember going outside in the summertime into the field next to my house and running with joy as this sound was in the background. It’s so magical and it’ll never get old.
This reminds me a lot of: 1. playing manhunt with the neighborhood kids and sneaking coca cola when it got dark while our parents sat by a bonfire. 2. Midnight summer talks with my cousin/best friend about the future, jobs, our sexuality, and anything else all on the porch of our shared beach house. really comforting during the winter storms in nj helped me a lot with late night anxiety and panic attacks tysm💛

I am in High school but I recently moved from my small town to the city and feel so alone and this reminds me of that comfort of being somewhere where you were bigger or more important and not one of the same out of a million of the same people. and the sounds of the cicadas and the lights of fireflys comforted me there so listening to this it makes me wish I was a smaller fish in a smaller tank insteadof normal fish in an aquarium
I really liked your comparisons there. I've lived both in small towns and big cities (I'm 18) and I guess that really is how it feels. Ah, but aquariums are beautiful and bustling with energy and there are so many different fish to meet and places to explore. Ah, but why not long for the comfort of smaller home, where you recognize each and every pattern and color of scales as a friend
Nothing more in life that I love than this sound. One of the best feelings in the world is to listen to the crickets and cicadas while enjoying a nice fire on a beautiful June/July night.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and I was tucked into my comfy purple sheets and my window was open and the warm breeze would come into the room. I could hear the crickets and the frogs. Sometimes even an owl would hoot. I could see the dark shadows of the trees outside my window and the world around me was going to sleep.
This is what middle ga sounds like at night. I feel I'm playing outside in the back yard with my friends again. Its so humid your hair is dripping wet with sweat and you're out of breath. You go inside and get goldfish and popsicles and watch boomerang or play plugn'play video games. Good times
Sleepy Beats yeah ;( I live in Marietta and this reminds me of my two best friends who live next to me when we were younger and would hangout every single day and sleepover every single weekend. It’s sad to me because eventually they stared ditching me more and more and every time I’d like check Snapchat and see them all hanging w o me. I know I’m kinda dramatic but it was best friends for 5 and 10 years to all of a sudden having no one... still to this day I’ve become isolated and socially awkward (even tho i have plenty of friends) and sounds like these remind me of when I still had them as friends :,)

Funny story: Freshman year I roomed with a guy from the Bronx. The dorm was not air conditioned, so we slept with the windows opened. To me, this is what night sounded like so I fell into a deep sleep. In the morning he was a wreck. He couldn’t sleep at all. He asked how could I sleep with all the noise outside...seriously, he was from the Bronx...
Sitting on the porch at night, watching bats swoop down and watching little animals run by, and knowing you don’t have work/ school the next day. Best feeling ever.
My bedroom doesn't have air conditioning, and when I was in high school, I remember having my bedroom window open and listening hearing these sounds til 2-3 in the morning when I would go to sleep

I feel you. I’ve been feeling the same way recently. Wanting to live in the past, and wanting nothing to do with the present or having to deal with the uncertainty of the future. I wish I could go back. I miss my friends. I miss my old school. I miss my house. I miss my dog. I miss feeling alive, and most of all I miss just being a kid. In a year I’ll be an adult, and my life is filled with studying and test prep and stress. I miss the days when I had nothing to do and just played Minecraft or soccer or anything that I wanted. Those were the days. They feel like yesterday, but so far away at the same time. Sorry for the rant. I just want to feel free again too. I’m so sad. I’ve never this sad before. :( everything I try doesnt work, so I resort to studying to try and make my future brighter. I don’t know what’s to come. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you find happiness and freedom. ❤️
I used to live in Hungary and this is what the countryside sounds like at night in summer; no wind, and stifling heat, still in the 90s in the early hours of the morning sometimes; by the time the cool weather comes in October you're relieved that it's all over.
This makes me think of after I go to a carnival and everyone is leaving and the workers are cleaning up (my dad volunteered so we went for free) and when I was a kid that time was late for me and I used to be so happy to be in my bed and fall asleep idk why that made me think of that lol
How wonderful that this sound brings us together and makes us feel similar feelings...summer..nostalgia..youthful peace, free of worry. This one sound elicits a similar feeling, however far we lived from one another, however distant we are in age. I'm in my 30s. I felt this feeling and heard this sound every summer until I moved from western ny in 6th grade.
I've used this sound the past 2 weeks since it isn't warm enough yet to hear it for real. I'm so glad this exists cause it's the first thing to actually help me sleep.

It makes me sad thinking back to recording this. This was at my father-in-law's farm after he had passed away and we sold it about three year ago and I haven't been back.

Ahh I feel so nostalgic to last summer (2018). I remember being at festivals and hearing this at 2 am while smoking with some amazing people and having some of the most deep, eye opening conversations I’ve ever had. Thank you for this. I can’t wait for summer.

I miss those humid summer nights back in VA. Northern cali is cool since I live here now, but this sounds like Virginia summer nights and I truly miss it. Man hunt, hind'n'go seek, everybody hanging on the playground or basketball court at night or in a field camping 😌 good days/nights.

most people actually haven't heard those cicada sounds that are the best part of summer nights because cicada eggs are placed under ground where they mature for seven years. so the really prominent cicada sound hasnt been around for a while. but one good thing about 2020 is its a year where a ton of these bugs are hatched to we can listen to these calming summer sounds from right outside.
I found this video two years ago. And every ear since starting January 1st I crave this video to get me through the winter. It’s become a bit of a personal challenge to see how long I can go without and suffer before succumbing 😅 I’ve thought about this video everyday this year and it’s been no easy feat. I’ve come to this video now ( I haven’t played it) to see what day I came last year.. Not sure why I torture my self 😂
