Not going to lie I thought this video was going to be a video crapping all over Arkham shadows And I was about to get pissed off because of the newest video from Arkham videos talking with the developers they put a lot of heart into the game

Sorry but the whole issue with WB is not my concern. Sure Kill The Justice League was terrible, I am not going to lie but I hope to god that the Arkham Trilogy, the Injustice games, including the Lego and Middle Earth games won't be removed online. They gave so many good games in the 2010s and I am that troubled by Zaslav bs choices. I hope he loses his career and be forgotten.

Agreed. Honestly, I think live service is never good, period. After the multiplayer hype, many AAA companies saw it as a good opportunity to copy that model since they already had established IPs (like WB) and they noticed the constant flow of cash those multiplayer giants were getting. It's those giants that doomed the current industry of singleplayer games from my viewpoint. The same happened with the app industry and thank god the peak didn't take long to die down. Not just that, but subscription models became a norm and now there are subscription models for basically EVERYTHING. I get that companies need to keep themselves afloat somehow, but consumers don't want this type of abuse either. I think DC and other IPs deserve better than this too because there are ways of making a live service DC game without making the landscape a hellhole, but most people just expect a focused singleplayer experience and they keep saying: "Nah... you want this in your games instead". Nobody asked for this...

@@ReversedPolarity yeah and it’s not like they can’t just focus on smaller single player games with a lot of replay value. Or just single player games with an add on multiplayer. On another note I wonder down the line when exclusives are not a thing anymore will Game companies have a subscription model which works something like Game pass but they can take away your games because it’s online.

A lot of multiplayer games will age like milk in the short run because they cannot keep the services going so they make sequels for them to keep people invested. Your second paragraph is my shared fear. I am all in for game preservation and my fear is that these companies will become like the streaming industry and others. Some of those companies offer the products and just charge the subscription model for the upgrade, but I've only seen that for software not entertainment. It's not the best solution nor the worst for this, but I find it better than the current subscription models. What I do know is this: with subscription services, you basically own nothing because you pay for a service. But with bought products, like those you buy on Steam and other platforms, I read that the courts are currently working on the legality behind some of these "live services" when the publisher removes the product from the consumer's library and takes no accountability for risks (like **cough** Ubisoft).

And it will continue to backfire because nobody really asked for this. This was supposed to be just some multiplayer fad, but now every AAA company decided that it's the new hot stuff players want because it's an easy legal loophole for them. Players don't want this, especially in their singleplayer games, but they'll keep adding it for as long as their budget lasts simply because they love the idea of having control over a service people rely on.

@@Devilsblight86 Yeah it was a Senior AI programmer for Rocksteady. His name was Matthew White apparently he was dealing with alot of stress for a while due to the heavy criticisms and stuff for the game which is sad. His sister posted it on Reddit it’s still there. It’s legit too.

@@Marvel_MotionsThe reason it’s (sadly) still going, is because they essentially screwed themselves into a corner. You see, that overpriced deluxe edition promises content for future seasons, meaning they released a product that promises rewards in advance for your purchase. So if they shut down the game early like we’d hoped, then they’d actually find themselves in potential legal trouble for giving players next to nothing for the overpriced edition, especially since the pre-order bonus made a similar promise while also not even working due to the shitty servers. I think I might laugh myself into a coma if I hear anybody say that this game is well managed and optimized, considering the shitty launch. At least Arkham origins and Arkham knight, as broken as they were on launch, still let you play them and made sure the extra content you paid for would actually be assured instantly.

And it's not just that, but it's also one of the laziest business models and it's very abusive towards consumers. Sometimes it's even borderline illegal, as they're disputing in courts the ethics behind the removal and exploitation of gaming products through live subscription models when they were bought legally from these companies. It just creates this legal loophole they keep exploiting where you buy a game and then they feel entitled about how you consume it to the point of complete removal of these games. Stuff like Game Pass, albeit cheaper for consumers, is creating a new problem in gaming too because at some point everyone will have their own subscription service with their own ruleset and nobody will own a thing. This has to be regulated. But you're right, in terms of this specific market, these games shouldn't be geared toward the regular game consumer. It's nonsensical and it doesn't work like that but they keep doing it because they expect those games to outperform and keep people paying for cosmetics and premium stuff and it gives them more control and less legal hassle to deal with. They know what they're doing and it's greedy.

I think there was a chapter in Arkham Knight that sort of tried that approach and you have Gotham Knights, but I see your point. I think people want a lot of focused singleplayer games that don't try to be live service, like Superman, the Flash, or maybe even a new Batman or Bat family game or something related to Gotham (hell, I wouldn't mind a Joker or an Arkham rogue gallery game just for funsies). We're supposedly getting Wonder Woman but that game has gone through a rough patch so I heard.
