Correct unless the shtf, like the economy and or dollar collapsed, then everything would be traded in ounces, if a farmer was trading a bag of groceries for a ounce of silver. He’s not going to give you a bag and half for a silver eagle.
Well yes silver and gold will obviously be a lot more in the near future but still I will get more for my premium silver over my cull silver . You won’t lose on your silver but you won’t maximize your value. Plus my 2023 eagles might be worth a good premium in 2040 for example when a generic buffalo won’t be much more than spot . I mean look at back date eagles and what they are selling for 😉
This argument keeps missing the mark. Its about the reasons you're buying it. If SHTF then what is the comparison of a silver eagle vs. a silver round? It's that discussion vs. normal economics and premium world. The real question is, does premium survive the SHTF translation?
No one will need silver or gold during a shtf maybe during the rebuild but that’s about it. People will want skills , Food, Trading Labor, Waters , Meds , Pews and so on . 98% of the population has no clue what bullion is so I don’t argue the shtf thing when it comes to precious metals but hey to each their own
I have two stacks one is just for the best deals I can get on the dips for cheap, and then there's my numismatic semi numismatic collection of different types of silver and gold I like.
Agree with you. Personally, I don’t believe SHTF scenario will happen, but PM will always hold value. I stack eagles only so that when I pass it to my kids, they won’t go through the hassle if they decide to sell it.
I like that. Man of class. The eagles premium are high. I feel not everyone will get to have them due to that fact I'm not one though. I say spend the money.!
To me it’s all the same. It’s only worth what people will pay . I’m a prepper I stack for gold and silver. I don’t go for pretty or rare stuff. But are we not stacking to keep for rainy 🌧️ day never to sell until government changes it’s currency etc . To pass it down 100 years down
Metal content is the same BUT.... throw that human factor in and everything goes right out the window! People have a way of doing that to everything! Good information Patriotic! Take care, be safe and God bless!
If everything stays the same as today yes you are correct, but like in the early 80s when silver went to $50 all silver was silver, most people were cracking out slab coins, everything was by the ounce no matter what, I’d say the same thing would happen if the SHTF Happens,Keep Stackin bro
Good morning, Patriotic... instead of leaving a long typed out comment on my thoughts, I figured I would throw a video out myself... Hopefully, it will also help you get a couple more subs closer to 4k.
You make a valid point. If you offer somebody a tube of BU eagles vs a tube that somebody just dug out of their back yard, even the "silver is silver" crowd would take the tube of BU. The question comes down to premium. Would I pay $1 over spot for great stuff?...yes! Would I pay 75% over spot?...no. I think your average person would pay a modest premium for good material. But I think just a subset of the market would be willing to pay stupid premiums for that same material. Honestly, I don't think I would buy a coin that looks like crap, even if it was cheap, because now I would introduce the complexity of unloading it. I only buy coins in "user friendly" condition and they will go out the door in the same condition. Condition does matter to many people. It's not about what matters to you...it's what matters to the public.
I'm torn between a tube of silver eagles or a 1/4 oz gold eagle. They're close to the same price. Gold takes up less space and is easier to hide and or store. A tube of silver eagles, because of the weight, makes me feel like I've bought something. 1/4 oz gold eagle is beautiful but weighs 19 3/4 oz less for the same price. Help! I need help! 😂
I have silver bullion that is worth a few bucks over spot, and I have silver bullion that is $40 per ounce...the designs and rarity can make your silver rounds worth WAY more than others. I have been doing this since 2010. My latest round I have been buying is the "Dead men tell no tales" rounds from Pinehurst Coins and they are as cheap as Buffalo rounds.
After 18 months, I started back buying ASE’s. I’m stacking 10 oz bars and on sale, generic rounds, as well as on sale maples and eagles again … I do miss buying Engelhart rounds(I’m seeing them as high as $35 and as low as maybe 30)
Not all silver is silver: 'CAUSE SOME OF IT'S FAKE!!!! But I found a 1964 silver quarter in my change from a machine last week... It could be fake (aluminium alloy:?) But I think it's real! IMHO
I keep mine separated. Cheap silver close to spot. The other more numismatic and silver I like to collect. You have to get what you like to keep it interesting. One stack is to sell if need be while the other is my collection. I have some coins worth more than a hundred dollars that I paid closer to spot decades ago.
Before about 7 or 8 years ago Eagles were typically $2 more than generics. When you sell them dealers on a good day when they are feeling generous paid $1 more. Thats a $1 loss per ounce with everything being equal. At $20 a ounce, thats 5% Generics are a super easy sell, low premiums going in, so no worries about getting them back and the dealers don't give them a second look. They count them and thats it. ASE's they suddenly turn into "Mr. NGC" and everything with the lightest smudge is suddenly a cull and then they only want to pay generic prices anyway. They try and low ball you. With generics it's a simply to the point question. "What are you paying for random generics?" The negotiations are off the table. The less time the dealer has to talk, the less money its going to cost you. Just like buying a new car.
