Automotive 3M wet/dry sandpaper is so many times cheaper. Spray adhesive on a flat block of wood. Autosol on a flat wooden leather strop works as a final polish. Mikky left horizontal scratch marks from the beginning in the final polish. The new camera showed it clearly. The biggest pain in the ass, is scratching the mirror finish the first time you use the knife. ✌

I add thin sliced foam between the glass/ wood and sand paper to achive a somewhat convex edge.. works like a charm

Haha , the K-390 / M-390 mix up was funny. Wow, mirror polishing K-390 with a convex grind like our Dulo's-- on wetstones? Yikes,,- that would take weeks , working every night after work, I could see it even stretching into months!!!!!

I've been using a combination of rock polishing compound and wheel polishing compound to mirror polish my blades. The hardest steel only being 1095. The rock tumbler grit comes in 4 levels, but I've only used the last 2. I start by rubbing a little compound on my leather strop block, then sprinkle on a little of the powder. On the 1095 it took maybe an hour to polish the edge to mirror. It's a coated blade though, so I can't speak to how long the rest would take. Benefit of this method is not worrying about creating your own nicks on the hard stone. Love the show!

Interesting topic. I switched from water stones to diamond slabs two years ago. The result is the same, but the grinding is much faster. What always annoyed me was that the water stones were worn out. Diamond, on the other hand, lasts forever in comparison. I can only recommend the change to Diamant to everyone. I use products from DMT, but also other plates from China. They also do what they are supposed to do.

I put a mirror polish on my BK-2. it took me a long time using sand paper 240 grit all the way up to 5000 grit. After ton of sand paper and some blood it ended up pretty and with a great convex grind.

Nice video. I brought a cheap belt sander and a selection of belts makes sharpening etc easy. That and a buffing wheel soon sorts things.

Great video. I love moras because they are easy to sharpen. Achieving mirror polish is almost a piece of cake compared to harder steels.

I have 200-800 grit and a 3000, but my arkansas "fine" feels smoother than the 3000. It can make a knife shave sharp.

I have some sharpening stones but if you want to save lots of money simply buy a thick glass plate (5-6mm) and wet sanding paper. Spray water on the glass and the paper will stick to it. What's important if you want a mirror polish: take your time with the coarser grinds. If you continue to finer sand paper too quickly you will need much more time since you have to remove deeper scratches with a too fine paper. Also take care, sometimes sand papers are much coarser than the grid number suggests. Go up to 5000-7000 grid (the numbers are different from the numbers on japanese/chinese sharpening stones) Also important: rinse with clear water between every step to remove coarser particles from the sand paper. Finish with polishing paste and a very soft(!) cloth. I used mother's finest polish. Good luck and best regards from Germany

I worked at the company in Germany where they produced the Unipoet. In Germany its called Unipol. You cant imagine how dirty and hard work that was. Like a Russian coal mine I tell you. People lost eyes and shit in the two years I've been there, not even kidding. We also made the Dialux stuff there. Pure muscle work and machines from the 1950s.

Great video as always. Would love to see reviews about Joker knives. special the models Nomad, Montes II, Ember f and Campero. I have all the knives myself, and find them high quality for the price. The steel is quite neat. The workmanship is top. It would also be interesting to see a review about JEO TEC No21 from you. I also own this knife, and I find it similar to the Joker knives, for the price you pay, good quality. Cheers guys

It always surprises me at how much longer it takes to sharpen a 17° angle compared to a 22° angle, because of how much more steel you have to grind. Not only that but this extra time you have to spend ultimately results in more human errors that you have to try and correct taking even more time.

Giving it a mirror polish doesn't really mean "high end". There is plenty of crap from PRC and Pak istan that comes with mirror polish xD. Still it was a great video I laughed a lot.

Why can't you use an electric Work Sharp belt grinder and polisher? Or, get a Harbor Freight belt grinder and add the necessary attachments to sharpen and polish knives.
