Hardscape and bed design looks good, best to pull the beds further from the house and leave plenty of room for the trees to fully mature. Also, regarding the butterfly garden: no butterfly bush - it's non-native and invasive. Please encourage your viewers to research and plant native to their Ecoregion. Hope this is helpful. 😊

Yard work costs money 💰 lol. My wife and I moved one year ago and began working on our yard. Some plants for the front. Some for the back. Grass maintenance and man o man does it cost money lol. Is it worth it? Of course it. Curb appeal but most importantly for us to feel happy and cozy with our yard.

I'm a DIYer but I would and have just bought smaller trees,can't afford the bigger ones or I wait for the bigger one to go on sale. You still have your own budget and that was so way out of mine, and doing it over time would help too. Thanks love the design mine would just take longer to grow.

Hey tree inspector here. I highly discourage planting the types of trees that you have suggested that are very close to the house. Silver Maple can get very large (60-80ft and I have seen 55 DBH trunk sizes even in an urban area). I would suggest they are at least 15ft or preferred 30ft away from a home or structure. River birch can also get very big and tend to be very messy. Creating a ton of debris in any gutter.

@amber Masloski thank you for the comment. The information I read suggested I could place the silver maple a bit closer but I’m glad you told me. We’ll have to swap those trees out with something a little smaller. In regard to the River birch, BACK OFF! lol! JK! Yes, they drop sticks but man are they pretty. I love them but I do see where you’re coming from. Thank you for watching!!!

Hey Bobby K, I live in southwest Florida. Seems like everyone is moving here these days. We've owned our house for 30+ years and our yard outside the pool cage could definitely use an upgrade. Can you give some tips for those of us in the Florida sun who would like to make our homes outside the pool cage more livable? Our house is on 2 1/2 lots but we don't take advantage of the space. It could be fabulous! Cn you throw some tips our way? Thanks!!

I would avoid silver maples: those grow quickly and quite large, and have soft wood, which makes them a danger to the house in high winds. We have two giant silver maples in the gardens at our house, planted 50 years ago. When we purchased the house 35 years ago, we didn't think to remove them, and now to remove them would cost over four thousand dollars each.

@Chris Stauffer. I've gotten a few comments on the silver maples. It does sound like they get a little big and another choice would be better. I think I'm going to switch over to a flowering Cherry tree. Thank you for the comment!!!

I definitely agree with Chris. If you live in an older neighborhood, you've experienced how older silver maples are utter trash. They aren't strong (my neighbor had a giant limb hit the roof and a week later, part 2 hit her car. They are ugly trees and their leaves have no fall color, merely shriveling up and falling. Older trees will suck up all the moisture in the ground (though their branches protect the moisture and sun from ever reaching the ground) so don't expect much to grow under them. I had the joy of removing several of these monsters. Good riddance.
