Great point dude, I have a set on Order for my OE Demon wheels, planning on storing my 6.1 Challenger on the stock 20" wheels and keeping the babies inside LOL; super exited to get them on 😎

Good info, I’ve been trying to decide on the nt555r2 vs some RT660s for my Audi. Luckily I think we only got down to like 28 once all winter and then right back to 70s. My car does sit out and it doubles as my daily but I doubt I would see any cracking here.

I just received my R 2's in time to use on my modded Hellcat Charger. I got some "17 305/45's My car is being tuned in the ballpark of 850rwhp. I pick the car up in a few days, so I hope they will hook at the track.👌🏽

So, how did they do? Just got some the same size for my MKV Supra making 800 HP.

It's been years since I've bought them, but M/T, Kelly, and quite a few others make an actual street slick. Literally it's been 20 years since I had a car setup for it, but that's who i went with back then. A lot more contact patch than the Nitto's from what I'm seeing.

Great advice! I actually run Nexan’s the ones that come on the challenger 1320’s . I called them and ask what is best for tires? They said do not use tire dressing in heavy amounts and to store the tire indoors preferably a controlled climate in an air tight bag. The tire actually naturally loses some of its make up due to evaporation. Also psi and burnout time varies from manufacturer to manufacture. Keep up the great content! Much appreciated!

I actually don't know anyone running them except actual 1320's, I'd be curious to see how they do!

They do great for me but, I am basically stock right now , 93 Diablo tune and 3.92’s . I did get a 12.9. 1.79 0- 60. Last fall. Da was at 300ft . Ran out of time to do my cam and headers, next winter project.

I had 555Rs before being boosted and they were awesome… but… watch the burnouts on the street cause they won’t last long 😉 Great video and good advice. Drag radials and cold temps don’t mix, even up to the mid 40s. They tend to be hockey pucks until then. Keep the awesome vids coming brother!

You're not kidding my friend! I managed to sneak out 2 years on my first pair even with all the trips down the drag strip, but it doesn't take long to wear them down, especially with burnouts! Are you running Mickeys now?

I've been using drag radials since 2009 ever since I bought my R/T, I did use the 555R but now using the new 555R2, I live in Ontario once I put my car away for the winter i put the original wheels on the car for the winter and put the drag radials in my basement, I run a 305-35-20 on 10.5 demon replicas and a 20×9with a 275-40-20 G2, the back ones fit perfect with no rubbing issues, I need that size on the back cuz my R/T makes about 650HP to the rear wheels, I have a base 5.7 stroker 392 fully forged from MMX and its a 6 speed manual, I've owned it since new, I also owned a 2016 Hellcat automatic, but for the street I prefer my R/T, but for drag racing at the track it's the Hellcat all the way, my Hellcat runs 10.7 @ 132MPH, my R/T best time is an 11.03 @129MPH, good information for those that don't know that you do not leave drag radials on a car in a cold climate like Canada, love your channel, now go and put a supercharger on your R/T the 5.7 loves boost just keep it at 8psi and have fun.

@@TrackPackRT when my motor was stock I put on a whipple with 8psi with shorty headers no cam,with a 17 inch drag pack wheel set up the car ran multiple high 11's to low 12's car was faster then 392's, the 5.7 is Bullet proof with 8psi if it's tuned by the right tuner as you know it's all about having the car turned right.

Great video! I have the same tires installed on an 04 cobra. The best tires ever! One annoyance is my rear quarter panel is always covered in rubber even after simple street driving. Do you have the same thing? They do wear down fast, did one small burnout and the line that runs along the middle was completely flush with the rest of the tire.

Mine typically last me about 2 seasons or so. I do love them! Haven’t noticed rubber in the wheel wells unless I’m doing burnouts at the track.

I got a 429R roush at 500 to the wheels. I have all seasonal tires and spin through 1st and 2nd it’s ruff. I’m on the fence between Nitto 555R2’s and toyo R888R. I need help figuring this out. Everyone says online at every forums or videos that nittos get the best traction but from what I’ve been told they are no good at all in corners I use this car to go get my son and go over a mountain that has corners that may have loose gravel occasionally and so on, I don’t drive it on wet roads or in the winter. But on the flip side have been told the Toyos have great grip but an all around tire got cornering and so on but still have good grip, which sounds great and all but I looked them up and I currently have 275/40/18 and I want 305/45/18 on the back for the taller meatier look but toyo doesn’t have that size and only offers the 305 in 305/30/18 which seems like a thin tire which is a concern but the Nitto does have the 305/45/18 but I like the idea of great grip especially at only having 500 rwhp but from the sounds of it I could leave the road going around curves ? Is that the case?

To be honest o haven’t felt that at all in my car with the 555R2s or the original 555Rs. Now granted I haven’t gone on insane “push it to the absolute limit” corner carving drives simply because there aren’t many here to do that on, short of taking it on an actual race track. I will say that I’ve pushed the car waaay harder than I would be brave enough to on street tires hammering into the throttle at decent speeds around pretty hard corners where if it was street tires I know I’d be spinning when I matted it and would be sideways or off the road.

My SC’d RT Classic has the Heritage 8” wheels. 255/45/20 BF Goodrich summers . Great looking wheel but soooo skinny. Why, Mopar? I just our 315/35/20 and 275/40/20 Continental DW-O6 + all seasons…something like that. I’m gonna start driving it year round except when it rains or snows. You can’t hook up with a 6m and 255’s.

Gee I thought -9 C was a typical summer day in Alberta. Now to offer something constructive. The warning about cold temperature and tires doesn't only apply to drag radials. Many summer tires will also have a similar warning too. What gives these tires the grip in warm weather, also makes them brittle when it's cold. The cold weather will also make tires that are designed for warm weather use very slick as the compound get harder in cold weather. That's something that people don't think about so it's good to remind people so that people keep safety in mind.
@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT 2 года назад
😂 Damn near! To be honest, we're kinda weird, really hot temps in the summer, really damn cold ones in the winter. It must be the prairies I suppose. I know most tires, for example summer tires and "all season" tires get to be hockey pucks in the winter where if you have "all weather" tires you're good. It's the first time I've seen a warning about cracking the tire itself, thought that was a little alarming!

But do u need to do a burnout for them to hook ? For example I have 500 hp and I want to go on a 30-40 min drive, can I just warm them up by flooring it off the line a couple times, or do I have to do a burnout to hook ? I don’t want to do a burnout before flooring it off the line
@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT 4 месяца назад
Your car is around the same power level as mine. On a warm day driving around town they will generally hook pretty great around town punching it off the line (without stalling it up). It’s even impressive if you’re going through a tight corner and want to nail it coming out of the apex, you have so much more grip than a regular tire.

Hey man. How do these tires do in the rain? Are they dangerous to drive in the rain with?
@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT 3 месяца назад
They’re fine, just have to drive careful, ie: no flooring it, but that goes for any tire in the rain when you’re driving a Hemi car. I remember right after I first put these on I was off to vacation meeting my family at a cabin in BC. On the drive I hit an intense severe rain storm that hit so hard with the wipers on full they still couldn’t keep up, making it hard to even see. At no point did my car feel like I was losing control, and these were at highway speeds. Go gentle on the throttle in the rain and you’ll be fine.

Awesome man. I have about 16k on my nitto g2's and still have plenty of tread left. But those tires have no traction. I wanted to try the r2's and enjoy having more traction. Thanks for the reply.

You should do cnc ported and polished heads as your next mod would love to see what you get out of them
@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT 2 года назад
With heads I'm a little hesitant on. Lots of guys I see doing work to the heads aren't seeing a lot for gains, especially with the costs involved. The factory heads do seem to flow really really well. I think if I was going to spend that kind of money I might just throw a supercharger on it to be honest. Actually with the way prices are going up lately, it might just cost me that much to throw lighter wheels and new tires on some drag wheels, maybe I'll start there! 😂
@captainboose8788
@captainboose8788 2 года назад
The stock heads flow 320-330 Cfm; which can support massive power; increasing that may make it pick up a bit on the top end; but may looks low end torque due to loss of velocity

What about in the rain?
@TrackPackRT
@TrackPackRT Год назад
Funny story, heading out for vacation to BC right after I got my Nittos on the car we got caught in an absolutely insane storm on the way there. I somehow managed to just miss the hail, but the rain was going so hard it was really hard to see as the wipers couldn’t keep up with the down pour. Surprisingly the tires felt fine! I was worried I was going to lose control and slip out, but honestly keeping to about the speed limit, maybe slightly less because of the insane downpour, but if you’re gentle on them, they’re fine in the rain.
