It is "simple" in a sense that it is ordinary and pop. Learn how to differ "minimalism" from "simple". It is not the same thing.

I love how many times this comment was misinterpreted to mean a gain of simplicity as opposed to a loss of minimalism. Keep going I love it.

Lol Keep in mind this band started in 2004 and this is like their 4th album. Their sound has evolved _a lot_ over the past 12 years (which is also so many people are bitching in the comment section). Listen to songs from their first album like "Elephants" and "Beetles" or the song "Warpaint" from their 2nd album and the name might start to make more sense :)

What about no? What's the need to compare woman in music to man bands? They're not a female version of Radiohead, THEY'RE WARPAINT AND THEY'RE AMAZING BEING THEM.

Hey, I apologize for the misunderstanding. In saying what I did, I did not mean to demean women in music, nor did I mean to say, "This band made up of men is the peak of alternative music and cannot be transcended, and Warpaint is the female equivalent of this." In fact, it is impossible to not observe the difference in gender of the vocalist and band members of Warpaint and Radiohead when listening to either. I mean to celebrate the fact that they are a band that is actually really, really good, and effects me in the same way that Radiohead has, which for me means a lot. Furthermore, art is only comparison and influence. To deny the influence a piece of art or a group of musicians has from past bands, artists, or pieces of art is to blind oneself to art entirely. It is a community that sits out in the open and its sole purpose is to be observed and consumed. This is how I consumed it. I hold as much respect for both bands, and love them both the same. I meant it only in a positive light. I would not want them to be anything but what they are and continue their autonomy and creativity. And, in fact, whenever I meet someone that says "Women can't make music as good as Radiohead," I show them Warpaint and it makes them realize that they were wrong about creating a gender-bias. What am I trying to get at? I am just trying to say that pointing out the fact that they are women and comparing them to a band that throughout the music community is considered legendary is not misogynist, nor is it meant to be a negative comment. I love Warpaint. They are my favorite band right now, and I have listened to their discography all the way through at least 60 times since I was introduced to them a year and a half ago. If you want to reach and declare that I'm a jerk for comparing them to Radiohead, than I don't know what else to say. It's blatant in how they compose their music that they were influenced by Radiohead (like thousands of bands since OK Computer came out). Warpaint absolutely has their own sound, and I'm not trying to take away credit where it is due from the incredible people that are women that developed that sound. They both kick ass and I am grateful that they both exist in our lifetime, and that I get to enjoy the sounds they compose.

Emily's voice is like crack for real. As much as I love me some T, I hope Em is dominating the vocals on this new album.

I think people underestimate how difficult it is to sound so relaxed while singing. Lana Del Ray has been treated unfairly in this way.

You said it best. I am so stoked to see them live again. I have been to so many shows but theirs are different. These girls have some crazy energetic connection that can be felt despite being amongst the crowd. I am willing to give this record a chance.

it just lacks layers and interesting structures that their previous releases had. that's my opinion anyway. if i wanted to listen to a song with such a dull structure w/o layers i would turn on top 40. i have hope that the rest of their album will be amazing and interesting though. this is only the single so.

Just because it's a little dancey and has a rather simple structure? It has plenty of layers btw, just listen to the vocal tracks for instance.

i dont have a problem with the funk of it, it just doesnt affect me the same way their past releases have. im not sure if we're talking about the same kind of layers. i just find it dull overall, unlike The Fool. I could listen to that album 50 times and find some new aspect of it every single time. that's what i mean by layers. agree to disagree. you like it, i dont.

Has a club feel to it. From that standpoint redundant and unremarkable. I prefer the more minimalist , "less polished" output.

It is just a single, Disco/Very also was totally different from the rest of the album and the album wasn't all made its this way. Let them try different sounds, Warpaint doing some intelligent dance music is a great thing for me. And I like this track a lot.

***** Well, I think doing the same music all the time is boring as hell. Artists' inspirations change all the time, otherwise they stop recording good music or just go commercial. The whole CD for sure will be different from this track, just wait for the next single. ;) If you don't feel Warpaint in this song just listen to this in slower pace. :P
