Actor Warren Beatty is coming back to the big screen for the first time in 15 years, as writer, producer, director and star of the new film “Rules Don’t Apply.” Beatty, 79, tells TODAY’s Matt Lauer that this is first time he has directed his wife, Annette Bening, in a film, and says there’s no better actress than her.

"I got lucky" "Several times, I heard" How rude. The guys' been happily married to Annette for more than 20 years and I think it's so disrespectful when people keep mentioning his past. He's clearly been over that.

I think he didn't look offended because he's a gentleman. We saw him many times getting that same unnecessary comment and responding on the same level. The universe knows of his reputation, but that was over 25 years ago, can't people just let it go? He and his marriage are so much more than that. I'm not offended,, I just feel bad for both him and Annette.

I agree. And it’s equally rude that poor Annette Bening still gets asked about Beatty. Ellen Degeneres made an offensive comment to Annette the last time she was on as a guest. It’s just lazy interviewing.

Tenzin Thinley Please allow me to refresh your memory. For decades it was Warren Beatty, not Matt Lauer,,who was notorious for promiscuity and sleazy behavior toward women.

@cuppajoe, I think that Tenzin refers to how much of a kissass Lauer is here in this clip. Beatty's history with women is legend and he was probably a very sleazy guy in his heyday.. But he has learned about love, friendship, and commitment after meeting Benning. He is a reformed sleazy. Lauer ist still a sleaze bag...

Yuck! Warren Beatty, the original arrested adolescent poster boy! Too bad he, like so many other so-called "stars", never knew when to get out while they were still on top. At age 79 going on 80, he's portraying Howard Hughes who at the time this film takes place would still have been a relatively young man of 52 going on 53. My disbelief is not suspended!
