The thing I don't get is, where are the real Mormons, the sane ones that have long since disavowed polygamy and have the big HQ in Salt Lake City? Surely they have the means to help these kids, maybe, like, giving them a place to stay, getting them psychiatric help, legal counsel, and a perspective on religion that is infinitely healthier? shadowkitty56 I'm a Mormon from SLC. The problem is, is that the polygamists are so secretive and aren't willing to talk to outsiders, we can't help people who won't let us help them. They are raised their whole lives being taught that outsiders are evil, the reason that these 2 men are able to help them escape is because they were once part of the FLDS.

Much of fundamentalist Christianity can be the same way. I remember being taught that the rest of the world was bad, full of sinners and not to trust anyone that did not follow 'the word of God'.
Christianity is nothing like this, and nothing like you portray and if that is what they taught you then that isnt true christianity. God teaches us to love others no matter race, religion, gender, or belief. He also teaches us to PRAY for your enemies, and still love and respect them. HE also says stay away from ungodliness because that can have a big affect on you and your relationship with God. He says to show a helping hand, pray, show love, and give truth to those who are lost. the world is not bad, and he never says it is, MAN is bad, and corrupts this world. That is why not all who call themselves christians are, and if you do not know who God really is, or the knowledge behind the bible, because it takes years and years to understand through Gods view, not the flesh, then you will understand that what you stated is totally false. how can you say God says dont trust sinners when we are ALL sinners and we all fall short?! might as well not trust ourselves either. Believing in God and being a Christian doesnt make us perfect or sinless,. It simply means we have a chance at salvation, we have a chance to be free from the bondage of sin, and that we are forgiven from past guilts, and mess ups. If you dont truly understand Christianity or God, please dont try to teach on it because you will give false information especially to those who might want to be interested in learning about God and Christianity. Jessica Rosas I am Christian myself. There are denominations of Christianity that are more wrong and F-ed up than you may think. People twist up the words and lie and everything. Others flat out rewrite the Bible. Some just rely on brainwashing. The people that share their story of their version of Christianity are probably telling the truth. But not all Christianity should be viewed in that light. There are some good and true versions rather than those that use it to shut non believers out. All of Christianity being one way is a misconception. At least to me. There are a ton of denominations and stuff, but there are some bad apples in the bunch too.
I resented religion at an early age, about 10. I found that it doesn't make sense when questioned. People choose to believe in a lie for the rest of their lives, when you don't need to be scared about what happens when you die, as you will find out when you get there.
Even a short study of history will prove that most people can be conned into just about anything however bad for them a stunning display of human nature that has happened many times in human history

Where were the Sheriff and deputies, prosecutors and child welfare officials of Mohave County this entire time? There looked to be a lot of human rights violations from this sect that needed to be investigated. How many of these young girls yearned to escape this prison, but just had no means? Were their health care needs being investigated? Did they meet state requirements for elementary education - licensed teachers? Who provided necessary medical treatment?

In 1998 I learned there was no national database on marriages so folks can commit bigamy or polygamy until they are caught by whatever other means; don't know if such a database exists now though.
