Sapp, was a beast on the field though. That’s one thing we can’t take from him. The Rock, found his path, and made something of his life as well. Congrats to both.
The Dwayne Johnson is still making multimillion dollar movies and taking care of himself. Sapp just got beaten up constantly on that line of scrimmage and does what now? He probably shaved a few years of being able to walk off of his life.
Sapps rich so all of you on here that aren’t rich, stop hating! People are so desperate on RU-vid that they will talk about a guy who’s house is worth more than their life. I just don’t get it
To Rock's credit he stated in his book in no uncertain terms that he was not even close to being the player that Sapp was and that he rarely saw any playing time.

Warren Sapp was one my favorite players but he sure is a hater now I mean for real it's like every interview he talkin bad on somebody or some of his old team mates
@@jasondownsnet Yeah, it's probably because that's bullshit. He's described it as though he was trying to win a starting job..., got hurt. Then the next year he was determined to be the starter...and they moved some guy from TE Named Warren Sapp...and thatvwas it! He was done... Sapp seems so petty to get upset about this though. Even if he WAS the backup behind Sapp...Sapp is the HOFer, a top 5-10 all-time interior DL. What's he upset about?
The Rock never claimed to be a star at the University of Miami. If anything he's stated Warren Sapp took his spot, which is why he eventually moved on to wrestling then became and instant star.
@Lennox Jr. No disrespect, but back then EVERY dude Miami was recruiting was highly ranked. Miami was one of the top programs in the nation and got most of the people they went hard at. Rock was good, but he got stuck behind Russell Maryland at first, All American and Outland Trophy winner, 1st round draft pick, then Warren Sapp, future hall of famer. Yeah, he wasnt good enough. No shame in not being as good as those dudes. If he was ALL THAT, would he REALLY have gotten cut by the CFL?
@Lennox Jr. lol, That you Dwayne? Look, no one is saying he was a scrub. The fact that he was a Cane at all says he had talent. But he was literally behind some if the best dudes who ever played. It isnt a knock to not be among the top tier ever. So, to flip it, can you logic?
Yeah, the Rock has always been up front about football not panning he like he wanted. He never claimed to be some great college football player and always said Sapp started over him. I don’t know where this host gets his info.
Exactly ... he said that as soon as he got to college and U Miami the pace was 5 times as fast as highschool ball.. then he had a shoulder injury and any chance of making it to the NFL basically went away.. he also said he’s okay with it because Sapp was as good as he was ... he never took anything away from Warren and said he was a great football player
Warrens one of the GOATS but ive listened to so many interviews with him over the years and even the most innocent questions are responded to with some sort of combative tone. Does not seem like the type of dude that would be fun to kick back with

James Lee really. It costs $50 plus bucks to go to a college game. $40 plus to park $20 plus to eat/drink. $100 x 100,000 seats. That’s $10M locally per game. Now add television, merchandizing, tourism dollars, and licensing and estimate $40M per game. $50M x 10 games minimum = $500M. While the kids get hurt, kicked off team etc. yet he’s mad because the rock didn’t come to the game. Warren was one of the best to ever play. Very much respect for what he did on the field. First of all, I don't recall anyone ever insinuating that the Rock was a great player at Miami. The fact that there only one highlight that they ever show with him making that one sack indicates how good he was. This whole line of questioning is just Eisen trying to get funny responses from Sapp.
Y'all need to watch the ENTIRE interview. This conversation started because Dwayne "The Rock" has been LYING about his accomplishments at Miami. Telling his heroic Football stories all over Hollywood that never happened. Sapp called him out on it.
Rock has even stated in his book he wasn't the greatest football player just that he was a hard worker..... Even so "The U" was on top of the world during that period so they weren't exactly just handing out scholarships for the hell of it

Gordo Papí like I said people always get salty at facts. Rock failed at everything till his dad and Pat Patterson trained him and paved the way for him in the WWE. Hard to see the truth when you riding that jock so hard. 🤣
Caleb Crawford he answered the questions truthfully. He was never a starter... 2 other people started before him. So saying that would have been a lie. He never started because he wasn’t good enough of a footballer
No shame in it. "Dewey" probably would have played a lot if not started at many programs. But back the. The U was DEEP in D lineman. Dwayne was most famous for chasing the SD St mascot after their fight game. That was about as much field time as he saw that year.
Nothing to do with that, if "the Rock" was as good at Miami as Sapp or even better he'd have been All Pro almost every year like Sapp, like him or not Warren will go down as one of the greatest defensive tackles of all time in the NFL
I wonder how well liked Sapp is? Legitimately. I have a feeling he's thrown more than one or two family members or close friends under a bus or two as well in his days.
The Rock has always been very forward that he was behind Warren Sapp. He simply said he played at Miami, which is still impressive considering they were one of the best football schools in the country during that era. College football days are all Sapp has on The Rock, who is one of the richest and most successful people in Hollywood.
All Sapp every did was win a Super Bowl, NFL Defensive player of the year, 4 first team All-Pros, 7 Pro Bowls, 2 All decade teams and first ballot Hall of Famer. What a failure that guy is.
USNMCB7 556N8O absolutely not the score ! Nebraska almost lost that game because of Sapp play that night, he was unstoppable. Fullback up the middle twice , saved Nebraska. You’re thinking of Nebraska taking apart that Gator team with Danny Wueffle at QB.
I love how his football teammates call him Dewey, his buddies in wrestling call him Rocky or just straight up Dwayne and people in Hollywood call him by the whole thing. It's quite hilarious.
Coming out of college, NFL prospects don't usually begin their professional football careers in the CFL. That being said, I've never heard the The Rock say he was a college football star.
The Rock actually spent a million dollars of his own $ and got the university of Miami a state of the art gym and at no point to he say or imply that he was a great football player . In fact he was pretty self deprecating in his book about his football career
Wrong early in his career, wwf and himself told the story as if an injury prevented him from pursuing an NFL career which led him to deciding to wrestle. This is wat Warren is addressing. Goldberg is the only actual good athlete with exception that brock did well in college but thts all

It’s not “wrong” if you read his book dude .. He was very self deprecating and said “ I didn’t have as much talent as most of the other guys on the defense but I had a great work ethic “
Johnson was a situational starter at the U. I distinctly remember a game against Syracuse game in the Carrier Dome in 91' where Johnson started and several others. But, Sapp mentioned Mark Caesar who in many peoples opinion is one of the top 5 DL to ever play at the U but was blacklisted by the NFL when his membership in the NOI became public knowledge.
By situational starter you mean he started exactly one game. Your “distinctly” remembering him starting other games is about as accurate as your opinion of Mark Caesar.
