For those of you who saw the latest Pittwater veg video I threw up, this is the truck's twin from Gosnells, being 157. I would've mentioned we originally had 158 in Warringah, but for some reason an individual did a switch and we got 157 instead. It was a real step down too, because 157 was very slow to work with initially. There was also a delay during the pack cycle where you'd here this sort of "grinding" sound, sort of like the pump was struggling to suck oil through the system. I also noticed it would happen when you'd bring the bins back down to the ground or when the clamp released... never properly got my head around the cause :S
Anyway eventually they got a new pump connected to the circuit and the head mechanic fiddled around with the pressures to get the equipment running at a decent speed. While he was fixing things up I got back on the truck for a while and he got a big thumbs up from me! Much faster operation these days; got to a point they actually had to slow the lifter's lower function due to so many leaks! haha Definitely a good truck to work on since the modifications... has the fastest lifter out of the five trucks, just gotta be careful with the way you use it. Also the engine has (or had) some power; you couldn't really tell the difference between empty and a 10t load :P
In this video she's looking pretty clean and we're using it on one of the old Thursday recycling runs during paper week. We would've had 123, but from memory a hose blew and this was the only other truck we could take out - actually the first time I used 157 too. Obviously this is when the truck worked very slowly, but I have another two video where you see her up to speed while servicing two large apartments.
