Today I would like to invite you on a tour of the center of Warsaw and Castle Square. What caught my eye the most was the combination of architecture, let's call it PRL :), i.e. a large slab with elegant skyscrapers. It looks great from a drone.
Warsaw, capital city of Warsaw[2] (city of Warsaw) - the capital of Poland[3] and the Masovian Voivodeship[4], the most populous city in the country and the second (after Gdańsk) in terms of area[1], located in its central part [5], in the Central Masovian Lowland, in Masovia, on the Vistula River.
It obtained city rights before 1300[6]. In 1526 it was incorporated into the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland[7]. In 1569, by the Union of Lublin, it was established as the meeting place of the sejms of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Free elections were held there from 1573. After 1596, the royal court and central offices were moved to Warsaw, and in 1611, King Sigismund III Vasa permanently resided in the expanded Royal Castle. The meeting place of the general assemblies of the Masovian Voivodeship and the local assemblies of the Warsaw region from the 16th century to the first half of the 18th century[8].
It is the only Polish city whose political system is defined by a separate act. Since 2002, it has been an urban commune with the status of a city with county rights[9]. It consists of 18 auxiliary units - districts of the capital city. Warsaw[10].
Warsaw is an important scientific, cultural, political and economic center. Here are the headquarters of, among others: the President of the Republic of Poland, the Sejm and Senate, the Council of Ministers and the National Bank of Poland. Warsaw is also the headquarters of the Frontex agency, responsible for the security of the European Union's external borders, and the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), an agency of the OSCE.
Zamkowy Square - a square in the center of Warsaw located between the ends of the following streets: Krakowskie Przedmieście, Senatorska, Podwala and Świętojańska.
It was marked out in the years 1818-1821 according to the design of Jakub Kubicki[1]. The square's buildings were destroyed in 1939 and 1944. It was rebuilt in 1949-1958 in a uniform architectural style.
The eastern frontage of the square is the facade of the Royal Castle. The Royal Route begins at the square.
