also, the developers really did make the winter event in 2 weeks (this is what i’ve heard from one of the devs). They started working on it a couple days after below had announced that the winter event was coming one of the main reasons they could make it so fast was because they reused a lot of enemy models, saving them time. still very impressive tho and one of my favorite events
I heard someone say that after I released the vid, it is honestly mind blowing, they should reuse enemies in the future so they can focus on bigger and better updates, more towers, quality of life improvements. This update alone they had a skin crate, tower, gifts, quests, it shows how much time is really taken up by an enemy that is just melted by accel 😂
lunar overture wasn't bad event, act 3 was disapointing and thats it the reason why krampus's revenge event is so good is simple: they re-used enemeis from violent night event and remade some frost invasion enemies and puted krampus from xmas 2019 event on top of that, that made them able to focus on other new stuff, like skins, santa quests, the new tower, freezer, frost blaster and slegder reworks, improvments, console support bla bla basically what re-using stuff gives you
Honestly yea Lunar Overture was just overhyped. The devs got too ambitious and they wanted to top the solar eclipse. The krampus revenge was simple and just good.
Lunar overture as a whole was a bad event. acts 1 and 2 were too easy and weren't anything special. And act 3 sucked. The ugc system was stupid. Lunar overture was not worth the 8 month wait. Below also called it the biggest event.
1 act 2 was a challange, you probaly didn't even played this event 2 after act 3 got nerfed it becam enjoyable 3 ok then how can you make it better? rng or you are sleeping when act is realesed and you have no chance of getting it 4 remind you that we still had updates in-beetween lunar overtorture and violent night @@laisksjjsjs566
to anyone saying tdx is dying it is very new and needs a lot of work and time because unlike tb or tds it doesnt have memorable past yet, but it is heading for a very good future and yes it is very anit player but it aiming for a more challenging approach but it was a bit overshot and needs a bit of work before it could be bearable by newer players and the grind wont be as harsh. but both are good games you should play
Tdx has said that it will be an nightmare difficulty and an easy for their christmas event so they will add an nightmare dificulty to the event so the christmas event isn't even finished yet for tdx (but I think I am still gonna prefer the tds event even afther the nightmare difficulty for the tdx event is released).
I feel that tdx is better then tds. It just feels more fresh and I feel like in a few months tds all be nearly dead and tdx will thrive. The only reason tdx didn't have the players is since its new. I think tdx is a better game in my opinon.
Tdx had 35kish players on launch and it still sits at like 7k now(mostly because alot of people find tdx boring like myself, hopefully it'll be less boring eventually)

Tdx said it themselves that the Christina’s update wasn’t fully made because the game came out literally a month before it and had three updates prior this on top of the fact that tdx has a much smaller player base led it to being less popular. Also, they have announced a harder version coming out soon that will be more finished
4:56 well, this is one theory, after raz retired, below has promoted many small developers into lead developers, the lunar overture event was a letdown because raz cant do everything while the smaller devs do less than him, and if my math is correct, many lead devs cam do more than one lead dev, shrimple as that
The First Tdx Event was much easier compared to TDS's, but that's cause it just came out and not many people had good towers, so john wanted it to be easy for newer players, as the game has been out only for around 2 months.
@@FajnyToscik Something like pizza party works really good. You can achieve hard mode by using Scout, Shotgunner, Minigunner and commander. It'll make it much harder but reward you with a skin. meanwhile Other beginners can just enjoy it as normal.
To be honest i dont know why people compare tdx as tds . Its been almost 5 year tds exist while its only 2 month tds released and that’s already crazy that a 2month old game (still it been 2year they have been workin on it) can challenge tds but i think we just need to appreciate both game and not be mean to the dev that are working hard
tdx will probably not have a good time when a lot of people get their hands on end game towers. eventually, just like tds, the majority of players will be high level ones.

John did not have a big crew if he did tds would have for sure been murdered😢 but the lucky thing is that tdx has just came out also the tdx event is kinda easy but tds still has a chance of death tdx is releasing a hard mode for their Christmas event
it was actually made in 2 weeks- even below confirmed it. all the work was on LO (lunar overture) and they only managed to completely finish act 1, act 2 was in progress and act 3 barely was even started by the time it was supposed to release

I think that TDX will eventually win but its gonna be a long hard fought battle. TDX doesnt have alot of stuff rn compared to TDS even tho the game looks overall better and its represents more of a challenge. The real challenge hear is for the actual fanbase of TDS to be willing to admit that their beloved game is going downhill with lackluster events and updates and the devs just generally making the game more of a cashgrab then anything now. It will take awhile for TDS people to switch to TDX and for good reason, people have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours on the game so why would they want to swtich to a game they arent familar with and do the grind all over again not to mention getting used to an actual hard game and mechanics. TDS needed a rival, their competition for the same genre and basically playerbase will promot innovation and will do their best to one-up each other, leading to us, the players, to benefit.
Honestly, the TDX Christmas event flopped regardless of the TDS event. On the one hand, The event itself isn't that bad but isn't that great either, there is also barely anything to grind for and most players already got everything from the event in the first hours, and not to say; the event is INCREDIBLY easy. On the other hand, TDX is a new game, making the event too hard could result in even bigger blacklash from the community as most players don't have all towers unlocked yet. I feel like TDX will eventually take over TDS unless they will start pumping updates faster. Overall, competition would be great for the game[s].
one of the issue for both TDS and TDX is the community, even TDS community itself fighting each other between gatekeeper who want some respect from the dev and the newbie who wanna own OG stuff to flex

nah. wasnt too horrible. I mean, think of the 2021 content draught. Yes we got frost invasion and solar eclipse, but that was literally it. 2023 wasnt THAT bad, especially compared to 2021 and I think 2024 will be a crazy year for the game
and i feel like the tds devs were also working hard on the late November 2.0 update they teased and that also could've interfered with production of the lunar overture event

Yeah the Christmas event for TDS is great is challenging and the event tower is pretty cool but i personally think that the cryomancer need he's ice to freeze faster since he doesn't do alot of DMG.

The only problem i had with tds this year is that its extremely laggy to the point that i had to use the rejoin system so that i could get into a game because it only showed me a black screen
I'm going to be honest, I don't think this is the downfall of TDS, I feel like 2023 was a preparation for 2024, and future years to come, with all the balance changes made to the game, it seems like there's going to be a big difficulty curve, especially because of this "New Gamemode"

Tdx is honestly mid the towers aren’t that special or cool the style is meh and the grinding is horrible grinding for anything past John is just painful it’s like grinding for Ranger or engineer but it isn’t that worth it overall it isn’t that fun

its like minecraft. When 2022 ended, people expected events ever 2 or atleast 4 months. The first half was actual shit. skins, rebalances and... ok im sorry but 20$ for a fucking plushie is insane, so its just useless. On top of that, The lunar overture was horrible by opinion. The lunar overture was horrible due to the ugc, thats.. ALL OF THE REWARDS??? the act 2 had 700 coins a reward for killing something like krampus. It was also bad because they literally MADE act 2 for soloing, instead of duo-ing, trio-ing, etc. Like i ON GOD swear that i did 15 attempts with random people on act 2, and i fucking didnt even get to the last wave. ALSO THE FIRST FUCKING SOLO ATTEMPT (with a strat), i won. Act 3 is a whole another thing. first its fucking impossible. im saying NO ONE could win. then they nerf it, but then its EASIER than ACT 2????? the devs noticed that, and made it so hard. i tried like 9 times to beat it after the 2nd rebalance, NONE we're successful. and also, since i did those 15 attempts on act 2 or some shit, i was behind, so i DIDNT get ANY UGC... THE LITERAL FUCKING POINT OF THE EVENT the quests... have the shittiest rewards. its like "DO ALL THE CHORES FOR 3 CENTS". Christmas was one of THE best updates in the tds history, remaking 3 towers, adding 1 tower, xmas themed quests, and a whole event to top that. i still REALLY dislike the fact that the battlepass is the most GRINDIEST ever fucking battlepass IN the history of tds. 2023 was a quite average year. im starting to move on from this game, because the word simulator in the name wasn't just a name failure.
The rewards in lunar overture were the same as in solar eclipse, beat nights to be able to play the last night and get the event tower Act 2, ofc you won with a strat lol, everything is easy with a strat, try doing something solo without a strat, and coins, all events didn't had large coins rewards lol Act 3 sucked Quest don't give a lot but its still something, just activate the quest and play the game, you don't need to grind everything Grindiest battle pass - maybe I guess? I got it in like the first 5 days
No its 2020 aswell most people forgot but the entire 2020 were just skins maps bug fixes and 2 events and one major None event update which is smaller = Bigger and after 10 months in 2020 they threw a overhaul that hurt us so bad we got s stroke and obviously 2021 is the worst atleast 2023 updates but 2021 was the prime of the tower delay simulator memes
5:20 Besides the models of the freezer rework as well as the phantom skins all being done, everything was done in those 2 weeks as far as i am aware (some devs didnt even know about the winter event until below tweeted about it at the start of december)
I also wanna say that the rest of the engineers/devs have done an amazing job at stepping up when it came to this event leading to the best development cycle I've seen for an update
They can. And they’re honestly benefiting from each other since they’re competing to make the best possible game to gain more attention over the other.
To be honest I don't think tdx has much of a chance against tds, simply put I have no reason to play tdx since both game feel identical with no real core changes. I only have so much of a appetite for td games so I don't find much point in spenting dozens of hours regrinding stuff to play a nearly identical game I would rather just grind out tds' newest update or keep pushing for another golden crate. Also on a side note I think tdx made playing and interacting with the tds community better a it feels like all the toxic tds players became the annoying tdx fanboys that viciously defend their precious sidegrade and these unsavory people are now easier to avoid
I think one thing that makes TDX feel very different is the 2 paths for upgrades. That makes strats unique and more creative, but I see what your saying, playing 2 TD games at once feels repetitive.
I guess it’s because it’s newer, and tds has a lively history that dates back to 2019 up to now meaning it has a larger community. Tdx, while developed by John, was probably outclassed due to this reason
In my opinion I like TDX more than TDS but TDS absolutely killed it for the winter and Halloween event. TDXs winter event was too easy and too hard. TDSs is a mix and it is actually replayable unlike TDXs event which is either you do normal Xmas and win easily or do Xmas nightmare and get destroyed at wave 5.
