Great video. I always thought the reason they wore the white makeup and all that was because they had lived underground for so long that their skin would be deprived of essential vitamins and nutrients from sunlight exposure; therefore, they overcompensated with the white powder faces.

I should also mention I’m a Gen Xer who watched this movie for the first time on a 1980’s late night show called Night Flight. They would show music videos and also some cult classic movies like this one.

Yes -- but Ellison hated it. The movie wanted a quick guffaw. The novella ends with a sneaky gutpunch.
