Important to note that Violent Outburst on the opponent's turn let you hold up Force of Negation to protect your spells So it actually does make the cascade decks quite a bit weaker

The window of interaction is much larger. An opponent can now conceivably cast their own sorceries to answer the cascade player. Otherwise, it was counterspell, chalice of the void, or lose. And I've been of the long opinion that if your format has to lean too heavily on chalice to keep things in check, it's a bad format.

Counterspells can be Force of Negation'd for "free" too. It's a meaningful hit to lose Outburst.

Rhinos will live on. It'll probably be worse, but they stampede on. I think the real question is does Living End survive this ban in a meaningful way? It was one of the best tools against rhinos.

When "one of the best tools" against a deck is a slightly different build of the same deck, something is deeply wrong.

Tbh making the decks feel more fair is smart for wotc to do, esp since it is the main unfairness of rhinos, and in general it feels like as long as fon is in the format, it has to be gone.

Outburst ban definitely hits Living End harder than it does Rhinos, but I think people are underestimating how much it hurts Rhinos. - Sorcery speed answers are much more effective now - You have to choose between holding up interaction or making Rhinos. A huge part of why Rhinos is good is the whole Splinter Twin thing where you can operate almost entirely at instant speed, now it’s going to be more awkward to include cards like Tidebinder or counterspells.

It doesn't hit either variant of Cascade harder than the other, Living End just doesn't have as much room to fall and still be good. But you're right, the targeted Outburst for a reason, and it'll do what they expected it to. The deck will be less dominant, but it probably isn't enough to make Rhinos tier 2 or worse. We'll see what happens when the next skip-Standard set comes out though.

Ardent plea actually gives rhinos another pitch to FoN. Cascade will be just fine

It was enough to get 6 pf our modern players to sell off their cards to cardkingdom and pick up console gaming. I think I want to get into buying a small aluminum boat and some fishing tackle. Hopefully the boat company wont ban my boat from the water after spwnding 1000s of dollars with them and only getting to use the product a few times.

Two things I really disagree with here. First, the instant cascade is bad, but sorcery cascade is ok. Like what? Instant cascade existed for years with Living End, without too much issue. The deck was good, but nowhere near undesirable winrates. Clearly something else happened here (hint, the answer, as always these days when there are problems in Modern, starts with “Modern Horiz….”). Second, Ardent Plea has game text that matters other than cascade and (or implying)Violent Outburst does not. In either LE or Rhinos I’d argue that the +1/+0 can actually be relevant to force through the final damage?
