"Let's see if this duel has shenanigans!" Well it starts with Yugi and Kaiba both having Ritual Monsters, Ritual Spells, and perfect level tribute fodder in their opening hands, and ends with an infinity+1 attack monster, so, you tell me.
@@SuperSayianWarrior Wouldn't that be (2 x Infinity) + 2800? Not infinity squared? Either way, pretty shenanigans, considering math tells us that infinity plus or multiplied by anything is still infinity.
@@SuperSayianWarrior That was before Timaeus fused with them; technically the total was just infinity (ignoring mathematical impossibilites) because Timaeus the Knight of Destiny matched the ATK of Divine Serpent Geh & crashed it, triggering its floating effect to revive the 3 Legendary Knights - that's why after the collision we see them all return to the field before vanishing due to the duel ending.
@@dancostello4872 Yes, but Infinity is a concept. I'm just pointing out to people who are saying it's infinity+1 are technically wrong as Timeus absorbs Critas and Hermos attack which were both at infinity due to the loop, adding in Timeus's 2800 attack, this making his attack Infinity²+2800 which is still infinity thus leading to the crash and the MAD.
So basically, the one time Kaiba actually tries to be a team player right off the bat, he shoulda just played like he was solo and won the duel easily. It's the thought that counts, Kaiba.
I suppose you're right as Kaiba has reverse plot armor where he loses to nearly every villain because he's not the main protagonist. I say "nearly" because there was that one time where he had what's his name beat in Dark Side of Dimension about halfway through the movie I think. But still, plot armor aside, this video pointed out that Kaiba coulda won himself and Yugi the duel very early, but he chose to try to set Yugi up for him achieving the win instead. Now with alot of these misplays, I often have to ask if the misplay is within character. This one I think is within character. Normally, Kaiba is not a team player, but since so much is depending on this duel, and ignoring the fact that he's in a team has backfired before, I could see him trying to be a team player right off the bat to better the odds of his team. Plus he probably was expecting to be eliminated first, so he wanted to set up Yugi as best as he can as he knows Yugi will get him back. So the misplay doesn't really bother me. It's just funny that the one time he tried to be a team player, he was better off just being the typical Kaiba. Side note: Yes, I understood that, for the most part, assuming you meant to say something along the lines of "Kaiba going solo would have made him lose to Dartz, dude."
@@leociresi4292tbh it be amazing if he did tributes black luster soldier and then attacked. Kaiba being tsundere wow and I thought we were actually going to have a duel I guess I can see he was a part of the dweeb patrol.
Atem/Yugi gets flak for not attacking the Mirror Knight tokens, but lets be honest, if one of those tokens was Mokuba, Kaiba would have frozen up as well.
Dartz knew exactly what he was doing. He went all out on the psychological warfare against Atem, knowing it would affect him greatly and Kaiba almost not at all. Divide and conquer, so to speak.
Bro kiba said “nah as a president of a major corporation I have to do that every day after dartz said “ only if destroying an innocent soul concerns you” best kiba moment
@@Beejay-ef5kpWhen Kaiba was faced with the possibility of dueling Pegasus when him using Mokuba's soulless body as a puppet, Kaiba didn't have the stomach to go through with it even if it wasn't really Mokuba. So no, if Mokuba lost his soul and one of the Mirror Knight tokens had his face, Kaiba would have frozen up like Atem did.
I kinda felt bad for Seto, once the Mirror Knight strategy took play he was the one carrying the stable as Yugi bought into the bluff leaving Seto the only one taking the offensive.
Imagine if Kaiba drew Crush Card or Virus Cannon and this duel ended by Dartz decking out, would it be one of the most anticlimactic final boss duels yet?
Both Atem and Kaiba’s decks were nerfed. If Atem had his god cards, he could have used Obelisk to clash with Gah using his effect with two tributes or used Ra’s field wipe since Gah had no protection in the anime. Atem was also missing all his control cards like Brain Control and Change of Heart to take away Dartz’s monsters to use as tributes. He could probably even killed Gah with Magic Cylinder or Mirror Force.
What would Crush Card do? Kyutora had 500 ATK, Shunoros has ? ATK, Gigas has 400 ATK, Mirror knight Calling has 0 ATK and Geh has infinite ATK, which is an undetermined number, like ? ATK. The only thing to get infected would be Malevolence, and he wasn't exactly a game changer for Dartz.
I mean with Geh being his true Ace monster, maximizing the number of times he could attack with it would be logical, but you also have to balance that against how many times you’d reasonably expect to have to attack with an Infinity ATK monster to win.
@@1001011011010 i think TECHNICALLY they followed the 40-card rule in like battle city or something, but regardless i just think a 60-card Dartz deck would be neat
@@xenonmaster6668 Was a joke. Yugi was afraid of attacking Dartz's mirror knights because he thought the souls of his friends were in them. Kaiba confirmed this was not the case which erased Yugi's fear for the rest of the duel. Of course this just so happens to occur on the same turn Kaiba loses the duel
Kaiba had some good points. He was all like "We got to get rid of those mirror tokens." And Yugi was all "But the heart of the cards!" and Kaiba laughed and said "Tokens aren't cards, you noob."
Honestly, I still wonder what would have happened if Mokuba was one of the mirror knights. Would Kaiba have had the same moment of "This is the one thing I cannot do" like with Pegasus and Noah? Or would he have been smart and realized that..."wait, not attacking is sorta worse because there is a decent chance Dartz is bluffing, but these souls are 100% doomed if we lose"?
I laugh imagining Dartz declaring that he now has a second battle phase, getting ready to defeat the pharaoh and then realizing he doesn’t have enough cards in his deck to pay the cost of his serpent’s attack
Gibbon how few duels even come close to deck outs, I'm surprised there has never been an duelist that either intentionally or dues ex machinas the opponent to deck out with their last card honestly. Or something that just straight up swaps your decks
@@GaybrohamStinkton There is a duel in GX that is finished by deckout and Isizu almost beat Kaiba by fliping the GY and Decks of both players, leaving Kaiba with only a very tiny deck and her with a nearly perfect deck.
Honestly, a deck out here would've been a pretty fitting end to the duel for both Dartz and the Leviathan. It would've signified that Dartz, being the egomaniac that he was, had sacrificed literally everything he had to the Divine Serpent, and that the Leviathan would always keep asking for more, and when Dartz could no longer supply more fodder, he lost. I assume they didn't want to go this route because they had done a similar thing during Yugi's duel with Strings, but it's a pretty cool idea nonetheless.
While the infinite win Yugi played was cool and nice, your idea is just better writing Someone consumed by the darkness of greed, pride and selfishness, ended up being killed by the Infinite creature he tried paying finite resources too.
@@Divine_Serpent_Geh True but the story couldve played out that without being able to offer something to the Geth, the Getn consumes Dartz Since its a pretty much Devine creature, the oriingal ending to the duel couldve played out that way, after Dartz losing his direct life to deck out.
@@aceclover758 One thing I do agree on, is that it is basically a Divine creature. Hence, why I always believe he had some kind of hidden protection. However, we never got the chance to see that since Yugi didn’t play anything that could’ve show that.

@@StevenTLawson It used to be about strategy but now it's make this deck and you'll never lose and always win on the very first turn. Where's the fun in winning cheaply instead of earning it?
Can we all take a moment to appreciate how much planning probably went into this duel to make sure that Shuniros actually had the desired atk they wanted?
I‘m thinking the same thing whenever someone wins the duel with 10-100 LP. Like, how much time did they spend planning out this duel, just to have them win at that amount of LP
I wrote a lot of yugioh fanfics when I was 13, and getting to a 100 LP is actually really easy. You just need to find the opportunity, and get them to 100. You can also use spells or traps with maintenance costs. The real trick is to not take damage afterwards without infinite Negate Attacks.
I mean the first few turns of the duel almost have 1 misplay each turn, and Yugi has an unknown card in his hand (would it be too much to ask to turn it into a card he can't use?). Idk if it's safe to say that this duel was well planned, especially compared to others. Just say Kyutora blocks all battle damage, and let Kaiba try and go for game only to fail and cause Yugi to have no monster (this would mean Kaiba starts the duel playing selfishly, granting his later final play a little more meaning). But yeah also good on them making sure to count up the damage properly, plus also it ties Shunoros to the theme of the Orichalcos (Orichalcos feeds on negative energy such as war, and battling makes Shunoros stronger).
Just want to say , today at locals when negating my opponents board to avoid otk , they eventually attacked with Ariseheart(3000) , Unicorn(2500) and Fenrir(2400)
Now TBF to Atem holding off on the attack after playing De-Fusion, keep in mind that at the very least, he is very VERY aware of how dangerous and cunning Dartz is at the time. Plus we have to remember, apart from Gigas in Atems case, NONE of Dartzs monsters have ever been seen or heard of before. WE know how most of them work thanks to hindsight, but back in the day as this duel was airing, whether in or out of universe, NOBODY knew what those things could do. It only makes sense that Atem would refrain from throwing two of the most powerful monster he and Kaiba had into a potential lions den recklessly with so little knowledge to go on. After all, being reckless was what caused him to lose to Rafael that one time. Not helping is that throughout all this, Dartz is maintain a calm and collected, even confident persona all the while, without a hint of worry or hesitation to suggest things weren't going his way. Duel Monsters is just as much a game of Poker as it is a game about monster slugging it out, sometimes, just pretending everything is going to plan when it really isn't can convince your opponent to back off, least their attack cause something to go wrong for THEM.
Amen, I can't tell you how many times I've gone from being close to losing a game, to winning because I was able to bluff my way out with a set backrow.
Not to mention, Atem knows magic is at play, and the knights were very clearly showing SOME control and sentience, so it's not just a set of holograms, and there's no way to know he wasn't about to send Yugi and Joey into some Season 0-level Hell. Actually, he's dealt with a similar situation before, with Bakura. We see that Joey and Tristan actually went to a graveyard and got hunted by the Reaper of Cards, so it's very possible that attacking could either destroy their soul or give them a fate worse than death.
I really didn’t like Dartz as a duelist because it felt like he had cards that seemed invincible. It’s like a child that creates cards that are so broken, no one could realistically defeat them.
They're actually bad, seriously you can try playing them in Edopro and see how inconsistent and janky they are I wrote a detailed comment about that, I'll copy paste it here if you disagree with what I said so far
@@KingNazaru Yes his anime cards are garbage that's what I'm talking about too Edopro has both anime versions and real life versions And Geh is better in real life, its anime version is next to impossible to summon, on par with Great Moth
Eh, it only looks OP because anime characters can constantly draw the exact cards they need at any given time. IRL even with anime effects Dartz's deck is a broken, janky mess that would lead to more bricks than anything else.
I'd say taken separately Dartz's cards are actually all fine. They just all synergize fairly well (which makes sense since he has his own thematic archetype.) For instance as OP as Kyutora seems the reality is that the reason it worked at all in this duel is the backrow effect of the seal and Gigas being in front of it. Gigas I guess is kinda powerful but the card version Dartz plays has the drawback of skipping drawphases and not attacking (which we never saw and was irrelevant when the soldier used it before). Geh has the drawback of leading to deckout. And the seal boosts at least have the precondition that the layer before it be in play (and Deuteros's effect of destroying monsters requires monsters making it attrition rather than just a godly defense condition) The only thing that maybe seems really OP is Aristeros and Dexia being such a perfect sword and shield. All in all I'd argue that all of Dartz's cards are less OP than the Plot Armor Dragon of Ra.
if you listen to it again you understand that. infinite, or infinite + 1 doesn't care at all. D. magician girl was on field with a "you can't lose" effect. due to the trap. In magic there is actually a card that does that. Platinum Angel. so, a card that makes you "can't lose" is not so uncommon. so, what happened is. both infinites destroyed themselves but "geh" was tied to the same "you' cant lose" effect. unless it was destroyed
I've always been suprised Dartz's deck wasn't turned into a proper archetype somehow. One that would specialise around bringing out the Seal of Orichalcos and its stronger variants to special summon its monsters directly from the hand , while stunning and shutting down your opponent's plays to make time to bring out the Leviathan. Also, yeah, Dartz would have probably won this duel if he just waited for Yugi to deck out as there was NO WAY he could reduce Dartz's LP to 0 with the rate he was gaining it.
Actually the seal of orchalcamalos prevents you from special summoning cards the extra deck if you're talking about the number card if your talking about the anime exclusive one then ok also something dumb about the seal is that it destroys all your special summoned monsters when activated and then locks you from your extra deck.
@@Tomy_Lightning I was thinking stuff based on his anime cards that can be also be special summoned once the Seal is on the field and require it to gain their secondary effects Hell, imagine a card based on Rafael that summons the Seal on your opponents's side of the field, nuking all their special summoned monsters and locking out their Extra Deck.
@@filipvadas7602 there are decks that play the extra deck that can get around that without playing their own field spell but yeah that would be terrifying.
I’m really confident that Konami will release every card in the anime eventually with a heavily nerfed effect I just need to live long enough to see it
While I was never the biggest fan of season 4, I always had a soft spot for this Duel in particular as iirc it was the last time a proper ritual summon happened in the original anime and to see three of them in one Duel felt like a decent send off for my favourite summoning method.
i'm pretty sure the only times in the main anime that Rituals were done, ever. Were Black Luster Soldier twice, Magician of Black Chaos, Relinquished and Zera the Mant.
And both paladins of Joey and kaibas dragons And the masked beast Serket Fortress whale Your basically mentally omitting most rituals they were plenty of rituals
@@lilsunny7399 Magician of Black Chaos was also Ritual Summoned twice. The other Ritual Monsters you missed were Paladin of White Dragon, Knight of Dark Dragons, Five-Headed Dragon, Mirror Knight Calling (from this video), The Masked Beast, Lord of the Red, Fortress Whale, Exodia Necross (anime) & Mystical Beast of Serket (anime). You could also theoretically count Shinato, King of a Higher Plane if you wanted to because it was brought out using Shinato's Ark in the Virtual World, but obviously it was a Deck Master interaction rather than a traditional Ritual Summon.
One thing I really like about this duel is that it serves as a nice companion piece to Yugi and Kaiba's Tag Duel back in Battle City. In that duel they were completely out of sync because of Kaiba's refusal to cooperate and they nearly lost. From the very start of their duel against Dartz, they are in sync because they've both managed to put their differences, suppress their egos and, as a result, get out their strongest Fusion Monster in 2 turns. Against any normal duelist, this would have been an OTK right then and there.
It's one of the neat contrasts between the manga and anime; in the manga Kaiba basically leaves the story after battle city while in the anime he and Yugi (and Yami of course) end up encountering and interacting with each other further and hence his character's relationship with Yami develops differently as a result.
@@ChouRaiyuki This is why the movie DSOD is not canon to the anime. In that movie Kaiba is obsessed with dueling Atem one more time and by the end of the film he builds a dimension traveling machine just to duel Atem. In the anime Kaiba accepts that Atem was a better duelist and that Yugi was the true king of games during the Ceremonial Duel.
Ah yes, Yugi and Kaiba vs Dartz. An awesome yet one of the most ludicrously written duels ever especially with the cards used. But that’s what you get when Shin Yoshida writes YGO.
This is one of my least favorite duels of all time and a big factor for why I don't think Duel Monsters aged very well vs. the later shows. Despite giving the antagonist ludicrously OP cards for the time, massive oversights led to everyone playing super unoptimally just to move the plot along.
Here's a few ideas for future videos; 1. Zigfried vs. Joey; Was Joey about to beat Zigfried? 2. Kaiba vs. Zigfried; Was Zigfried about to beat Kaiba? 3. Yami Marik vs. Yami Bakura! Was Yami Bakura about to beat Yami Marik? 4. The Big Five vs. Everyone; (In other words; Yugi vs. Gansley, Tea vs. Crump, Joey vs. Johnson, Tristen, Serenity and Duke vs. Nesbitt, Kaiba vs. Lecter, and finally Yugi and Joey vs. The Big Five); Was the Big Five about to beat their respected opponents? 5. Seto Kaiba (and later Yugi Muto) vs. Noah Kaiba; Was Noah Kaiba about to win?
Honestly, they could have made Dueteros and Tritos continuous spell cards that can only be destroyed if the field spell is destroyed and it wouldn’t change anything. Dartz never used more than three S/T Zones otherwise.
You know, Timaeus being able to copy spells or traps from game meant Yugi has game the moment he played Return Soul. Copy Kaibas Ring of Destruction, since we know they share fields and assumedly graveyards, blow up Divine Serpent Geh. Yugi has Dark Magican girl, so he lives, while Dartz loses his tether
yeah this was actually one of the arcs where it made sense why the world needed to be saved with a card game and not say the military because dartz political influence kept the world's military from acting Though i kinda also feel the same way as you guys when Yuma and Astral use things like shining draw against people because usually the villain has just as much hax and is easily able to deal with whatever they pull out
A lot of shenanigans during this duel and my most favourite one was the last turn of the duel which was the absolute best shenanigan in the history of Yugioh.
Going back to Turn 8, we have to remember that Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon is Kaiba's card, so when Yugi used De-Fusion is was summoned to Kaiba's field so Yugi wouldn't be able to attack with it, but he could have still attacked with Black Luster Soldier, now depending on whether it was another direct attack or if he chose to attack Kyutario to get rid of it since Black Luster Soldier wouldn't be strong enough to win the Duel, then the Duel would either end the exact same way or Yugi and Kaiba would lose. If he attacked directly, given Dartz's goal was to get out Shuanorose and he had the LPs to spare, he probably would have let the attack go through without sacrificing Kyutario for Dutaros's effect. Thus, everything else happens exactly the same, except Dartz has 3000 less LP, but that doesn't affect anything as that means when Shunaorose was destroyed by Critius, he'd have 11100 LP, 1100 more than he needed to pay the 10000 LP cost to get his Serpent out. However, if Yugi chose to destroy Kyutario with Black Luster Soldier instead because he knows he won't win this turn and sees Kyutario as a big threat if it's left on the field, then this would be bad, as Sshuanorose would be summoned, while it would only have 7600 attack because at this point in the Duel the damage absorbed was only 7100, it would still be bad because on Dartz's next turn he'd have Shunaorose, his two arms, and the Mirror Knights, thus he could use two Mirror Knights to get over their two monsters, then use Shunarose to attack one of them for game and drop the other to 2500 LP with the other two Knights and Dexia, and then he'd have a clear advantage and probably win. However, if he didn't get a monster to sacrifice for his Ritual Card(because he would have shuffled after getting out Shunaorose and might not draw the monster he did in the original Duel) to get the Knights out, he'd still be able to use Shuanorose and Dexia to get rid of their monsters and while this would drop Shuanorose's attack to 0, he'd still be in a very good position, but then on the next two turns Kaiba and Yugi could mount a comeback, as Yugi could use Mirror Force to get ride of Shunaorose and Dexia when Dexia attacked Big Sheild Gaurdna and deal 2900 LP dropping Dartz's LP to 5600 and Kaiba could use Ring of Destruction to get rid of Aristrose, and then Dratz, unless he drew something to protect himself or get his Knights out, then he'd be screwed as he'd be wide open for direct attacks from Kaib and Yugi's monsters next turn.
@IGogetaX10I I like to think that the Millennium Puzzle gives a luck boost to all his friends as well as just himself, basically if Joey really needs to draw a specific card and Yugi cheers him on he pretty much always draws the card he needs
@@WilliamReginaldLucas if I remember if you control a millennium item it will help you draw a card you need so all the bs draws That the pharaoh gets is because of that or it was just a theory I forget
Always loved the nod DMG gave the Pharaoh after he brought her out with the Relay Soul.. The little arc he had with how his emotions had him disrespecting his monsters was good.. Her believing in him was a nice anime touch
I think Kaiba didn't attack that turn because as an expert duelist he knows blinding attacking is very risky, think of it like this. If he got rid of Luster soldier and his attack failed or worse he lost his dragon because of an unknown effect of that backrow monster, he and Yugi were at total risk. Losing ones Soul or not, Kaiba is not someone who would risk losing to some "loser" megalomaniac to some terrible Joey Wheeler like play. But yeah also the plot dictates and ya gotta make it look epic for a final boss fight
I mean, the anime CONSTANTLY shows them blindly attacking. In fact, i think most attacks in the entire anime are blind attacks, so the point that they draw and use no spell or traps in order to go straight into attacking a guy with 3 face downs.
@@AzureRoxe To be fair I think given Kaiba's talk about Yugi finishing what he setup was expecting Yugi to Make Master of Dragon Knights and end the duel and so keep his reflector unite as a plan B as nether know what Kytoras could do.
I think the biggest misplay was summoning Master of Dragon Soldier in the first place. Its such a huge commitment for no payoff. 1 5k Beatstick in exchange for a 4.5k Beatstick and a 3k beatstick as well as poly. If they just stuck with Ultimate and Luster soldier and bounced Ultimate into 3 blue eyes when Dartz tributes Gigas that would be game right there.
Kaiba should have remembered that(using their dueling partner's cards) during the Battle City Tourney during their duel against Lumos and Umbra. Also, Kaiba's last turn technically isn't illegal since it can be considered part of a chain.
So in case any one is interested and/or doesn't know. Orichalcos is a metal used used in Atlantis mentioned by Plato. Protos, Deuteros, Tritos in Greek mean First, Second, Third. Aristeros and Deksios mean Left and Right. The Legendary Dragons Timaeus( Translated mean Honorable one, one who respects), Hermos( Hermocrates, not sure how to translate it) and Critian( the one who governs) are the names of the books Plato wrote about Atlantis attack to Athens.
I wish duel links had more Orichalcos cards available, or even have Dartz or Raphael as event characters since they let Paradox into the game which was a movie I recall
Actually when each of the legendary dragon’s knight forms are summoned they can banish one spell/trap on the field. The seals have destruction immunity (even the TCG grants it’s once per turn can’t be destroyed) but I think it’s safe to assume they can be removed by other means.
What about if someone tried to play another field spell? I know no one tried that in the anime as far as i remember but still. I figured that'd be one of the only ways to remove it.
@@heroeus8173 true, but would playing a new field spell count as destruction in that sense? I always believed it'd be different as since your playing a new one, it bypasses the destruction effect.
In regards to them not attacking with newly summoned monsters during the battle phase, the fact that it happens with both sides makes me wonder if there was some non-battle city manga rule that didn’t make it to the show (wouldn’t surprise me or be the first time) which prevents monsters summoned in the battle phase from attacking.
Yeah I remember when watching this duel and thinking "Why did you get your LP so high if you were just going to throw them all away?" Also imagine if Kaiba had used his card to give him a bunch of life points back. Team good guys having an extra draw and combat phase could've also changed things.
I’m going to say the mysterious monster card in Yugi’s hand was Dark Magician. It’s a monster that never would’ve been beneficial to Yugi in this duel either on the field or in his hand and he was never in a situation to summon it
Ah yes. I love the final boss duel of the 5th arc of Duel Monsters taking place in Episode 13 of Yugioh Zexal. Kind of a weird jump for the conclusion to be in the 3rd series afterwards but alright, I'm here for it.
Dropped everything I was doing to watch this when I got the notification, been waiting for this one! Good video like usual 💙 I think an interesting duel to see one of these done on would be Rex Goodwin vs Yusei, Jack, and Crow from 5D's. I'm curious to know what you think of that one
Well all I'm saying is: (Racsa anime effect) aka "i skip my battle phase and hippity hoppity , your LP is now down to 1 property" Move to Main Phase 2, *ACTIVATE SPARKS FOR GAME*
Here's my question: Since Dartz's serpent prevented him from losing the duel, would that also include decking himself like in that hypothetical you suggested, would Dartz just be sat there with 0 cards not able to do anything while Yugi kept drawing?
I think in Geh's wording it said the owner cannot lose the Duel while Geh is on the field so that would include losing by deck out, Dartz just wouldn't be able to attack or draw new cards but still have Geh on the field unless Geh requires something other than Dartz's LP to keep it on the field
Dartz stays in the duel as long as Geh is on the field. He can’t lose regardless of other conditions (deck out, instant wins, burn damage etc) because none of those things actually remove Divine Serpent from the field.
Man, that duel was totally insane and Dartz was an OP opponent to battle Yugi and Kaiba. Great video as always, man I really hoped Dartz's cards gets being printed in TCG/OCG someday in the future (the next Animation Chronicle pack)
would dartz even lose the duel if he decked out? geh's effect makes it so that he can't lose unless geh is removed from the field, it doesn't say anything about having no more cards to draw so technically he wouldn't lose but he would have to switch geh into defense position to survive and it would be a stalemate unless atem figures out another way to remove geh from the field
"OK, so neither of us have any more Life Points, and neither of us can do anything to the other person, and I have one card left in my deck. Let's see what it is..." *Draw* "Well, are you going to tell me?" "...I would if it were Kuriboh."
In the end I suppose a stalemate would be in Dartz's favor. If they're just sitting there, Geh and Dark Magician Girl unable to do anything to each other, Dartz can just continue giving the Great Serpent power through the minions he can summon in the real world. It'd be a lot slower than giving himself or Atem, but the option's there. Also, Kaiba, Joey, and Yugi's other self weren't fully absorbed yet (they were still traveling to that eye and were still recoverable, same can't be said about the older souls Dartz captured), if that happened it'd probably have been enough already.
After a decade of searching i finally found some of your background tracks. It took so damn long omg. If anyone else is searching for one of these, the ones i found were these two. Baulander - Cold Water Jeremy Blake | The Emperor's Army
Dammit, Kaiba! For once, stop being such a thoughtful and inclusive team player, and recklessly bullrush ahead to attack directly with your Blue-Eyes! I know it's asking a lot and would really diverge from your normal dueling style, but you gotta trust me on this one!
Surprisingly from how it's explained here it feels less shenaniganish than I thought. I used to think it was some Duelist Kingdam logic but I guess at least here there are card effects that sort of make it work. But yeah still this is probably the biggest shenanigan in a duel we've seen since that time
25:03 It's funny, cause at this part in the dub, Dartz called Yugi a cheater for using relay soul and doing this despite Dartz literally doing the same thing no more than 2 minutes ago
Those were such amazing moments from the duel. The Duel literally goes into overtime. Appropriate as well considering the fact that Part 6 only had a fraction of the duel left before the climax
Are there any actual cards like that? I think it would make my strategies a lot better, if I wasn't constantly worried about defense and I just had that ace up my sleeve, I could focus more on attacking.
@@coin4898 There are conditions to that way of staying alive, so all you have to do is exploit that. Might be a little bit more difficult but it's not exactly immortality or invincibility.

My favorite Yugioh Season to be completely honest: I'm a NUT about the Orichalcos/Legendary Dragons cards! Sadly, they suffered the same fate as the God Cards!
I’m kind of hoping the other dragons get a similar upgrade as timaues, especially hoping critias gets an effect the makes it have easier access to its fusion monsters like having access to its trap material from anywhere or make it so any trap gives you access to any of its fusions
I didn’t notice this before when I first watched, but the little episode title thing is that of the first Zexal duel between Kite and Yuma, not Yugi and Kaiba vs Dartz
Hey, I've been loving these videos and I was curious if you've ever considered covering the duel of team 5ds vs Unicorn. I know it's a really long duel so it might be a pain to cover and analyze but it could be cool to see
No way. No searching ability in a 60 card deck? No protection from hand traps? Almost no direct destruction protection? No in-graveyard effects to take advantage of sending your deck to your graveyard? A Meta-deck player would go "your deck is trash, git guud scrub" and proceed to 2nd-turn OTK Dartz. Even with all the anime effects working as-shown sans any "living soul" effects, the Seal of Orichalcos would be ridiculed and mocked for being "too slow and unreliable" thanks to just how focused on mass card removal and protection from removal modern meta combos have become. Though in all honesty, that is more of a statement on just how utterly batshit meta YuGiOh has become rather than a critique of a bunch of cards that, otherwise, would be considered OP/unstoppable. And to think, it is SLOWER now than it was a season ago thanks to the LINK and Pendulum nerfs...
@@GeneGear I was more meme'ing that he plays a cards like ones that gives him 4 monsters free monsters that can't be destroyed one a turn each turn, blanket one of the kinds of destructions, almost omni-protect boss monsters that beg to be Kaiju'd.
It does seem like some synchro and link inspiration takes a little from the design choice at least. Even a card like Yubel comes to mind with how has advanced versions of herself + having a destruction/no damage ability
I believe that card in Atem’s hand was one of the Magna Warriors. I believe at the end of the final turn when all three of them are sent away. Atem’s hand is empty. Might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure he had a magna warrior.
Loved this duel retrospective! granted the fact that kaiba had game on turn 2 is hilarious to me but all in all a very nice duel. Also i'd like to see Sora Vs Shay from Arc-V since its one of the best and my personal favorite duel's in the series
I feel it's necessary to point out that- THAT'S NOT HOW INFINITY WORKS!! Infinity is not a number as we understand them, it's not a set value, like "Oh, this monster has infinite attack points" infinity is a symbol that represents the number of numbers that there are, and since you can always add 1 to any number to get a new number, infinity cannot be reached through normal math. Since Geh had infinite attack by default, it is inherently more powerful than any monster that has to add up to infinity, since, again, that is impossible. Yugi's monsters could've done their little redirection dance for a thousand years and it wouldn't add up to infinity... ...I am bringing philosophical mathematics into an analysis of a duel from Yu-Gi-Oh!, what am I doing with my life
3x + 2800 as x approaches infinity would has a steeper slope than x as x approaches infinity so no matter what position you stopped calculating at, the Legendary Knights would be higher. An infinite loop in Yugioh can theoretically be ruled on, for instance if you pull off a loop in a tournament that would result in you have infinite LP you might ask a judge, "So this loop gives me infinite LP, can I have it ruled that I just can't lose by taking damage if I pull it off?" and they might give it to you. It's not even the biggest nonsense in this arc, either.
7:29 - 8:00 I realized why this didn't sound right on the 2nd watching. So if Yugi summoned BLS and Ultimate to his field and attacked with BLS Dartz would've just let his monster get destroyed cause the 2nd seal tributes a monster to destroy the attacking monster and his monster was in defense so he wouldn't take damage and then he would've gotten his Shunuros out sooner. So Kaiba and Yugi would've been in a worse position if he did.
I could imagine this guy as a teacher in a duel school in Yu-Gi-Oh, 2 students fight and then he explains what happened and then the students examine and try to find out what they did wrong and the he would reveal it and explain what should of happened.
