Was Fear the Walking Dead's Series Finale Awful? | MAJOR SPOILERS 

The only part I like is Daniel's ending. He just roasts everybody for being scum bags and then he reunites with his cat and lives happily ever after

Alicia looked so good for being gone and sick and dying, and all of this. She looked like she came out of the salon

This show, specifically the reboot starting from S4, can go to hell. AMC robbed so many fans of the OG 3 seasons of what they preferred from the Clarke family and instead gave us Z-nation with Morgan as a lead while banking on nostalgia of the original 3 seasons. I’m so glad this show is finally done, it was a literal corpse.

The fact that Troy died and everyone else survived is absolutely unbelievable

Today, I went to a grocery store. I didn’t have enough money to pay for all my groceries, so I punched the cashier and stole a car to get away. When the cops pulled me over and asked why I did what I did, I told them: “I had to get the ingredients to make spaghetti, because it’s what Alicia would’ve wanted. Having spaghetti is what will help build PADRE into what Alicia envisioned it to be.” I was released immediately after. Moral of the story: If you do something bad, just say that it’s what Alicia would’ve wanted. You’ll get a free pass.

Can we just talk about the fact that the writers made Morgan kill off the bounty Hunter just for them to bring back the same actor, but playing a twin and then not saying what happened to that character along with the trucker girl and the dude in the wheelchair

The fact that the Vultures and the crazy lady from 4B did more damage than Troy ( season 8) is an insult to Troy fans he was just as horrible like the Padre Siblings and accomplished nothing

What killed the show wasn’t just Nick leaving and budgetary constraints. It was firing the main show runner who was actually really good and replacing him with two of the least talented Showrunners ever. Who completely botched the next five seasons. Surprised you didn’t mention that

I genuinely feel bad for the actress who played Tracy....this was a horrible ending.

tracey's acting wasnt even the most bad thing, it was for me that she was litteraly teleporting EVERYWHERE. she got some of troy's teleporting skills, cuz troy also teleported his half dead ass body out of the dam. she teleports to troys car and just happens to walk straight to where madison is dwiving, and then teleport INSIDE the MRAP. in the finale she teleports to padre to save madison and teleports back to the beach WITH HER. the reunions were awesome and i hope we get to see the characters again on a show where the writers don't make this many brain twists.

The only part I really enjoyed was when Daniel chewed out Madison and strand. And then all the season 1 references that followed were really cool

Clearest example of a a show where the showrunners write according to what is convenient to the plot they want to see, rather than an understanding of the minds of the characters. Similar to the showrunners of Yellowjackets and Rings of Power, they only understand people from behaviors and not motivations, so they create an unbelievable narrative to connect the dots between the behaviors they want to see. Writers must understand motivations, and when they don't we get this. They should work in Wall Street not Hollywood.

Tales of the walking dead, carl getting shot and bit for no fkn reason, troy coming back for no reason, nick dying in the dumbest way, beth entire hospital arc, heath disapearing for no fkn reason, laura getting fodderized by beta when she was actualy the first savior, the worst cliffhanger of all time when we had to wait like a year to see glen get beat up till he gets retarded..cockholding us with the crm, strand constant change of motivation, lucille saving negan from rosita, the list is hella long. But that finale was simply unacceptable. Like Who tf made this frl. Like it was so bad i couldn't get emotional because i was too busy wondering wtf i had just watched

You give them too much credit for assuming they had a plan to develop the Whisperers with Nick. They never had a plan. It was always just content for content’s sake.

You know how Troy got impaled by the branch during the car accident/trap, Madison pulled it out, had some cloth wrapped on it and called it a day? Yeah he would be bleeding to death. Anyways, the way Alicia was repeatedly mentioned throughout the season, I think the writers were not sure yet if the Alicia actress wanted to come in (I think she wanted to leave last season). I will note though, Troy said the girl was Alicia's daughter because he wanted to make sure Madison took care of her. It would make sense for him to do that, however the way they did a reversal plot twist was not ideal. Madison getting saved by the magazine and necklace was because Tracy kept saying that the necklace was given to protect whoever. It was cheesy, but they went for it. The worst things about this season were definitely the kids, Wren and Tracy. There were such little shits who constantly put others in danger and were annoying. There was no way Wren was able to rescue Morgan in the swamp by dragging him to the swamp house that were surrounded by walkers. Same with Tracy saving Madison from Padre. They just used jump cuts and told us that they managed.

It wasnt meant to be a whisperer thing, But the original showrunner had a plan they were going to do since season 1, But they fired him and replaced him with new showrunners and they completely did a 180 from the original plan

Bro if Nick and Travis showed up together alive and well in the finale it wouldn't even have been out of place bc how batshit crazy and dumb that episode was. They could have done a flashback of nick digging himself out of his grave bc he survived the gunshot and being dead for a few days. the knife missed his brain and he's all good. Travis landed on a trampoline in a doctors backyard so he's all good. i really think there is 20 writers on this show and everyone gets to write a scene without talking to the others. This season was so bad and pointless.

they shoulda focused way more on the kids from PADRE and in the end made an epic defense fight were most of the main characters that got knida attached to those kids die protecting the idea of PADRE and them... paving the future for them, instead of just Madison or Alicia being turned into "legends" whole cast should've been, and leave the future in their hands

I honestly found zero redeeming qualities in the ending to be honest. Literally zero. Everyone treats Alicia like she's some kind of messiah, the Marvels just posing like superheroes throughout the whole episode, people giving each other the FTWD motivational speeches, Tracy's acting. By the time they brought back the cat I exploded laughing because for me that's just a new level of ridiculous and reality breaking. The fact that everybody goes back to their origins for no reason in a world in which they're trying to survive and long travel is extremely dangerous, it's mind boggling to me. Alicia's return would have been a good reveal if Madison, or even Alicia, were characters we actually liked. I think the writers seriously overestimated how attached people were to her character and turned her into this admirable being that she never was. The reveal of how Madison survived the shot was cartoonish in how ridiculous it was. The only good thing I can say about this episode is that it's over.

The show should have ended with madison and alicia *with* strand, daniel, and luciana. i *hated* the fact that they thought she was dead *AGAIN* and went separate ways. *Everyone shouldve just ended off happy in alexandria.* As for tracy, i dont blame the actor, i think its truely just such a shit script, i didnt think her acting was terrible, or even really bad, i think it was entirely just the terrible writing. Troy was terrible in episode 11, which is a fucking shame because his ending in season 3 was great. ofc they brought him back and fucked it. A shitty minecraft "story" series my friends and i made on one of my friends channel in between middle and high school made more sense on how we got from place to place than fear season 8, and we literally just fucking did /tp

They turned it into the Morgan show, then realised near the end the show had no actual ending it could perform that remotely linked to the original start of the show, and with Morgan leaving they didnt even have Morgan to end the show. So they thought quickly 'Ok, get Madison back, but she has no one on the show close to her really now..bring Troy back so she has an enemy'.

AMC should be embarrassed. Plus A Low budget, but they wasted $$$ making a fake swamp for a 30sec scene that was shit.

It’s ironic but the last 10 minutes of the show actually left me wanting more. Even sending them in different directions now makes a spinoff with some of these characters not only palatable but somewhat interesting (different writers of course).

I'm not sure Tracy's actress was bad. I think the writing was just fucking atrocious. You could cast young Jodie Foster who won an Oscar into that role, and she couldn't save it. I mean... The fact you give the series finale a 7/10 is a little sus.

face it the problem with Fear, was when Morgan came into it, he's not a bad character as such , but he was far better in WD and was not a good fit for Fear. The 1st 3 / 4 seasons of Fear are quite strong, esp as it's the junior show

Troy gets impaled but can dig a grave and pull Madison out of a swamp. People can find each other like they all have trackers. Tracy appeared in other scenes with no explanation as to how she got there. I kept thinking I dozed off and missed something but when I hit rewind….nope I didn’t miss a thing. Madison with her “I have to do everything alone even though earlier they needed to take care of me by taking me to Padre because of my breathing and water in my lungs but never did and now I’m ok”. 🤨 The show was terrible. Madison was the worst written character by far. Reminds me of the other worst character in the walking dead world Lori.

Episode 10 and 11 were truly awful. Episode 12 when viewed after them, was more palatable, but was plainly awful in its own right. The core "Walking Dead"show shoudl have ended with "Wrath" in Season 8. And Fear should have ended in Series 3, or 4 at a push. Fear was prolonged, and seemed more and more like its prime end was makimg Alisha a star. And the last 3 seasons seem to be about putting your friends and their kids on TV.

Hate that Madison didn't want anybody knowing she's alive. Also hate they didnt show the others that alicia is alive. The WORST part is the fact that Madison is still fkg alive after all of this. I swear idc what other people say. Madison is one of the most overrated character in TWD universe. I dont get the hype at all.

i dont think the show is ruined after they killed off Nick Nick's character is a unstable junkie he is gonna die mid story anyway the show just turned into a completely different show mid way and when we fall in love with john and june they just killed john off wtf it is a complete mess after that they should just end the show during the nukes and use that to link to the main TWD story as a major event

I agree with you so much. So glad other people see how terrible this show has become. Probably the worst show ever I have watched. It was amazing at the start, but after s3 it went downwards and the last 2 seasons are so bad. The thing is that they always choose the wrong path. They have 5 good possibilities and always go for the worst one. And why always focus on children and annoying actors? They miss opportunities all the time. Why bring Troy back, the only good thing to happen, is just to kill him off in a stupid way. If I knew this, I would want him to remain dead after the dam. And why is he suddenly so evil? He never was. He just wanted the ranch and his family, but now he is the ultimate bad guy????????? I am a filmmaker and writer myself, so I get so happy when watching this show if those people writing this can get paid, I am certain I can do a hell of a lot better than them. But on the other hand, it is scary how the producers choose these terrible writers. THe thing is that some parts are good, but the next scene is terrible again. THey miss all opportunities. And they reset the show like 2 times ever season.

Exactly 💯 who set the trap? How did a seven year old bury a full grown adult? How did she dig a full grown adult from the rubble? How did Alicia survive the radiation or zombie bite? How does she look like she just left the salon? Why are they going back to a fire bombed LA? I could go on and on. Nothing makes sense anymore in this franchise.

I feel like you can almost tell through the actors body language that they think their role are absolute bullshit. Even with the interviews at the end on the insiders you can feel the disappointment on their part. Also, what the fuck was that about madison and Alicia’s reunion. Zero emotion. Zero feeling. Padre/Madre 😂 i laughed… Best awards go to Troy and Dwight hands down.

I understand Tracy is a cute little, innocent, young girl, however, seriously? She isn’t a great actress I am sorry I understand she’s young and she needs as much encouragement as possible! However, this wasn’t her time! Her acting sucked, her emotions seemed rush, and she just learns that Madison isn’t even her grandmother nor is Alicia her mother lol, she finds out that Madison killed her father for no apparent reason. But she kind of shrugged it off even though her father was everything to her, but let’s just forget about all that we gotta wrap up the show people! We can’t get that intricate.

This season is so much better if you answer every question you have with “Sure, why not”

I quit watching The Walking Dead when they effortlessly killed all the Whisperers in the herd like they were nothing. I quit watching Fear the Walking Dead after the stupid plane crash. The writing on both shows turned to walking crap. I hope it doesn't continue with Rick's return.

season 6 was the only time in ftwd i slightly had fun watching it. The characters wernt as brain dead. I liked the setting, I actually kinda liked virginia as a villain. Then they killed John, n that really made it hard to enjoy the show. It was another example of doing somthing just to shock the audiance. The Teddy storie line and the nukes were cool. But so much had alr ruined the show for me, I jus couldnt find a way to enjoy the characters. Even Morgan, n hes always been one of my favorites.

It was an awful series finale. The Morgan finale was better. But most of FTWD after season 2 or 3, whenever Morgan came on has been downhill so I was used to it lol

A television show or film should not contain anything either UNEXPLAINABLE, INEXCUSABLE, OR NON-UNDERSTANDABLE. This goofy series executed this on a weekly basis, especially in this last merciful season. The writing of this last season was Fukushima disaster level bad. Good riddance!!

I thought 11 was fine, but 12 was so awful I came looking for an explanation... Pacing, writing, acting, editing, even the camera work - all felt subpar. As if they needed to cram 3 episodes into the budget and runtime of 1. All of season 8 was weak but this was just a sad send off. It's one of those rare series where I really liked the middle and kinda hated the beginning and end.

EVERYTHING you said is spot on. Us fans deserved better and so did these actors. It's hard to understand how they allowed the showrunners to take it to this level. Also I wish they did an end credit scene teasing the ones who live. A CRM helicopter or clip of Morgan looking for Rick, something?

Clearly the writers of this last season were amateurs, it was just horrible, Kim Dickens deserved better, hopefully somehow she'll end up in one of the spin offs, you could tell she wasn't feeling any of the scripts.

The length of this series killed off all the decent reviewers as well. I walked away years ago, and dipped back in tonight to reviews when I realized the show finally fracking died. Didn’t miss much, apparently. But man, the art of reviewing is supposed to be an art, not just a disgusted person spitballing why something “sucks.”

the last number of episodes seems everyone was within a 100m radius all the time. Someone gets trapped out in the woods, zombies everywhere, no escape , oh look there's Madison, Dwight, Daniel just walking by to save them. Madison i need to find Alicia, at this point she think's she is what going to find her Zombie daughter, who is what still in the same place Troy killed her months, years before. Oh not to worry, alica just turns up out of the blue, because she was i presume just a mile down the road ,the whole time. Also how did Troy's what 7 year old daugher, drag Madison out of the basement, i presume Madison was unconscious and brought her to the tent on the beach. Remember the whole group at that point thought Madison had sacrificed herself , so no one else apart from the daughter saved her from the basement, with all the crispy zombies Also Dwight descides to go back to Sanctuary , apart from why , surely there are tons of Industrial type buildings, that have'nt collapsed, but as far as Dwight knows, Daryl will kill him if he sees him again, and he is still at Alexandria, well Alexandria and Sanctury are not that far away. so why would Dwight risk going back to that area, where Daryl still might be roaming. i.e he does'nt know he is in France, or is he at this point of the timeline

I think her being a grandmother would have been better ending like everyone ends with madison telling us the audience that she will try to take her new family to find Morgan at Alexandria and ends with the the group acting badass leaving and seeing Tracy kill a walker with help from madison Troy and Alicia look at each other and run then we get Daniel and the cat walking through smiling. We get a cut away to Dwight looking at a photo of Sherry with map circled around New York for negan. And ends with madison and Alicia looking down at a grave for Nick and Travis beside his cause they both never got one and then it’s revealed their in Alexadria and ends with madison walking towards our little group of twd characters Morgan , Aaron , Gabriel , and Carol. With the voice over from Madison saying their wasn’t much to fear after all now we are “The Walking Dead “ Black screen.

But this season, ah fuck. Disappointed it ended like it did , everyone chasing a child. Also please do and episode about Troy.

There has not been a single episode that i personally could consider "good" in years. Cant wait for the series retrospect, boys content, and whatever else you got planned. I think this ending was somewhat lacklustre but at least it came full circle and felt like it tied back to the start of the series

Episode 12 was a good, although there was things that annoyed me. Madison turning into a Villian felt rushed and the fact she flipped to save Padre half way through felt forced I love Daniel in the episode. "Are you a psychologist?" Made me laugh. He had so many badass moments. Hearing the music from 816 of the main twd during Rick's letter was a fire tune. The constant nick and Alicia flashbacks were annoying. Tracy burying Troy and Tracy saving Madison later in the episode as an 8yo was completely unrealistic and took me out of the episode. The fake Madison death was not original and it was kinda stale, but I kinda liked it. I just wish everyone knew she survived. Alicia is Alive and was in the last 15 mins! Skidmark is Alive! Dwight and Sherry are Taking what's left of padre to Virginia Strand rides off with his family Lucianna and Daniel lead their own group now June and Dove are going to John's cabin Madison, Alicia, and Tracy go to LA I actually hate that Madison didn't want anybody knowing she's alive. Overall great finale minus some annoyances 7/10

How the hell is the character Alicia a cash grab? You just said she was a dead character and was brought back but she never died at all. What are you talking about? When did she die because I never seen her die at all. Literally for the entire season 8 I was like dam when are they going to show what’s going on with Alicia and I kept thinking there’s no way the actually killed a main character off screen. The last time we see her was episode 15 of season 7 and she woke up from being sick and all that sht but was fine and her fever was gone. Then it just showed her walking off into a random direction.

Why did they even fight for fucking Padre? Just to split everyone up? Lol Madre? Fucking weird ending man. It’s like Madison would’ve exploded just by hitting those tanks lol.
