Between 4 miners I am getting around 1 HNT a day. I have not done much to tune them just putting the stock antenna outside (bobcats). I am very happy with 1 HNT a day, even at these prices. My strategy has been to convert about 90% of that HNT to Flux. The goal is to earn enough to turn the one MNTD gold miner I have into a node.
As a Ham, this helium thing kindof makes no sense to me, there's a perfectly good APRS network in existence that they probably could have tapped into to use, and it's really wide spread and maintained by Ham radio operators. But, as far as the antenna goes, you could have put up a high DB ham radio antenna (depending on the frequency it uses) , mounted the outside of the house. My VHF/UHF antenna is about 10 ft tall and is +5-7db, mounted 25 feet up on the side of the house and i get about 70-80 miles of range on it.
Honestly I was very tempted into getting a helium miner. like I was looking at the goldspot that you have because it was pretty cheap and looked cool and nice and simple. But my only concern is like the fact that
I have 3 bobcat 500. Making around .65 to 1 hnt a day ones in a tree one on a second story building and one on my house love it little to no power just looking forward to the next bull run
RAKv2 w/ 8dB antenna, mounted in the attic (7m). It's been running since Oct. 2021. Being on Long Island in NY the area is pretty congested, so I have a 0.38 Transmit Scale rating. I have made a little over 41 HNT. My first three months were awesome, and then all downhill from there. My last 7 days were only 51 Beacons, and 12 Witnessed in the past 3 days. On the Helium Explorer, I show as the only hotspot in my hex, and the closest hotspot is 930m, was expecting a better Scale rating... when the weather improves, I will likely move the antenna to the roof. Till then, I'm letting it ride...
been mining HNT since Jan2022 , currently mining 3HNT per week and loving it , still think it will be another year before it has paid for it self , had to pay scalper prices + 8dbi
I've got 3 miners deployed. 2 MNTD miners, 1 gold and 1 black and a bobcat. We didn't deploy our first miner until the week before Easter last year which was the goldspot and that one actually had the antenna cable disconnected from the board so it did nothing until after I opened it up and discovered that. The other miners were deployed a month later then maybe 4 months later. In total so far in less than a year we have mined just under 50 tokens. The last 30 days our miners made 9.6 tokens. We also discovered like you that the beach is a good location for a miner. We have the blackspot in North Myrtle Beach. We also still have 2 more blackspots to deply and another bobcat to deploy, we just need to figure out the best locations that we have available to us.
Helium is only 1.06 now, your 400 plus the electric outlet in the attic and the large antenna, I put you at more close to 750. I know nothing about this but if it keeps going down then it doesn't seem worth it. It's interesting but i think i might be late to the game. Good video though 👌
I bought two Nebra hotspots and got them in march last year. It was slow in the beginning but a friend of mine has mounted a few and another friend also has one so one of my miners has 5 witnesses and we are 6 hotspots in total. Its a small town with mountains around so any long distance isnt possible. But im making around 0.12-0-15 HNT in 24 hours. My other miner isnt that good, it only has one other miner in the area so its pretty sad. But they will still be up, not taking them down.
Had my Goldspot for just over 10 months, and my results land in between your 2 (made around 70HNT in that time). I hope HNT will get back to a reasonable $10, we'll just have to wait and see how the move to Solana goes in the next few months!
@@TheHobbyistMiner what is hivemapper? And what might that bring to the helium Network? Is that going to be the iot token? Or is that going to be the 5G mobile token?
Not sure why the antenna type and height is required in the GUI. I would have thought it would have been here irrelevant. I found a neighbor doing well. His was labeled default dbi and 0 height. He was doing much better than I was withe the correct parameters.
You should try 9DBI McGill.. same set up same high same cable I've had 8dbi rakwireless antenna before and i was making 0.1-0.2 a day .. after i installed McGill i went straight the same day to 0.4-0.5 and still doing it with 110-120 witnesses
Interesting you didn't bring up the other Proof of Coverage project with Helium... Mobile and the 5G micro cells. Thoughts on that and are you going to give it a try... though the hardware is a smidge more than $400?
Very informative video. I've been interested in mining Helium for some time but live in a rural area so don't know if that would be potentially profitable. Thanks for the give-away chance.
Only way you can really find out if it would be profitable is look in your area where you plan to deploy the minor. If there are other hot spots in the area doing decent, or what you would expect. Then try to duplicate what they have or do better
So, far of two miners with 15dbi antennas @ 13M height...I have only 38 hnt....not even one miner paid for let alone 2nd miner and accessories ~! $3,000 invested in two paperweights~!!
Well i don't know why Helium got in bed with Solana. A project like Helium requires reliability and Solana has gone down many times in the last year. That shouldn't happen with Decentralization.
Bad investment paid about 510 in July 2021, unit was on back order, received 8 months later into March 2022, unit did not work, it would get really hot, got a replacement by helium after going back a forward with customer service, installed new one June 2022, unit has been working but has only mines 1.2 a month, lame 😂 Bobcat
In addition to the miners that my brother and I have deployed, our mother bought one and it is deployed litterally deep in rural Pennsylvania but on a 40 foot tall tv antenna. Crazily enough, the only other miner it manages to talk to is with one owned by a guy I work with that is about 13km away. She's made 10.47 tokens since about the beginning of April last year but it has been a struggle being so far from civilization and other hotspots.
My experience is nearly identical to yours. Started Nov 2021 with a rak v2. Same issues you had early on. Replaced the sd card. Upgraded to an 8 dbi antenna on my roof. Currently earning 15 hnt a month. Luckily I sold some when prices were much higher and “paid off “ the hotspot and antenna. Been hodling ever since.
I'm curious to hear if you even thought of trying to order a part, say: Control Board for your S19 asic and see what is needed for you to Receive it..?! bitmain wants your Passport papers "which i DON'T have" and dang near your SIN #..! IF you get a 7007 control board... get one for me! serious! There's this "VMS security Cloud who " sells them" which My Address does not work for shipping and ... they could NOT care less. Been trying for over a week now, but told them today to shove it as i couldn't take it no more of their careless. I have a none working brand new s19 doa since jan 11th 2023.
Hate to be rude, are you talking about challanges your having with your S19 ASIC on a Helium Video lol. Super Confused. Come stop in the Discord, Join the ASIC Channel. Lets chat!
I started mining helium literally the same month as you Nov 21'. I purchased five Bobcats and got them setup over over the following two months. Had to move two of them because there was nothing that they were doing worthwhile or performing well. But now they all have great locations. But the network has taken a drastic downturn since like May or June. They're still all plugged in because well, why not? Its cheap. I love the idea of the network and the uses that this could be such a strong Network but they completely changed directions. They don't care about IOT devices anymore, all they care about is 5G. But I just wish helium didn't make the stupid changes that they did. Because in the end all it did was hurt everything when it came to the network and use of the network. It seems like they only really care about the huge holders in helium. They do all these HIP's on the use of the network and it only benefits the whales. In addition to that I stopped voting in hips because it literally cost almost a full day's worth of mining in a 24-hour. With five units, and even still my vote wouldn't have mattered anyways and I know that there are thousands of other people who felt the same way as myself. Still trying to collect and save so I can cash out and at least ROI with the amount of money I put up front. Hoping for the market to recover, or at least helium to recover somewhat so I can get some funds back
@@TheHobbyistMiner want to, they just left the market. There's so many uses that the iot network can use and benefit but they don't care about it anymore. They transition to 5G
