I decided to make this video because people commenting on her routine video were arguing if it was underscored or overscored. Of course her form is exquisite but there are definitely still deductions to take! Comment down below what you think!

Her form is too amazing makes me wanna cry. This was one of the most perfect routines ever apart from some really small mistakes on the dance elements

I think it was fair. I had her at 14.4. I couldn't see the crossed feet. Maybe if it was in slow motion, I would have, but I thought her form was beautiful.
@marythiccmas
@marythiccmas 3 года назад
She has crossed feet on all of her laid out twisting elements except for the front layout 1/2. If you're going to take it for one, you should be taking it out for all of them. Other than that, I do agree with the video overall that she was scored fairly. I think even if the judges had deducted for crossed feet on all of her twisting elements, at least one of her .3 steps might not have met the meter threshold (the double tuck step was a bit borderline) so they only deducted .1 and it would balance out.

I love her so much, her talent won't last other olympics, but she won't go to tokyo due to her unconsistensy 😔

It’s still early in the season. The head coach said that her routines were downgraded to prevent injury, and they still have 2 more internal tests after this. It was a bad meet for her, that’s true, but if they work on consistency during this months she will absolutely make it to Tokyo. It’s a shame she won’t be able to go to any international competitions before the olympics to gain experience, but we’ll see. Praying for her.

Who knows maybe it will last. Sui Lu won beam and floor at 2008 chinese nationals (even tying Cheng Fei on floor), didn't make the team and came back later in 2012 and made it. Surely Ou can hold out for 3 more years?

@Russell Hayman I’m guessing you haven’t seen this. twitter.com/gayfetus/status/1329281587725398018?s=21 again, she downgraded her for injury prevention, but she’s perfectly capable of harder tumbling. Not even sure if she even should go for it though, a 14.3 is a great score either way
@MahmudinMahmudin
@MahmudinMahmudin 3 года назад
@Russell Hayman she really dont need to do that much harder tumbling. this rourine can get a silver in 2019 world.why do you think that she must have that harder tumbling? for what? if she want to upgrade, that is great. if she dont, that is ok. maybe a little upgrade is necessary.

I’m not sure why you’re taking off for the switch ring and the crossed feet on the triple is probably not visible in real time (personally I can barely make it out in slow motion) but everything else looks good to me
@Zuranthium

Steps have to be over a meter to get .3 deduction. I have 1.1 in deductions: -.1 double tuck step -.1 double tuck stiffness on landing -.1 triple wolf pause -.1 double wolf balance -.1 double wolf precision -.1 layout 1/2 step -.1 double L-turn pause -.1 double L-turn precision -.1 switch split 1/2 form, including stiffness on landing -.1 not enough complexity in choreography -.1 not enough musical interpretation (look at this routine before she had the wolf turns in, there was a lot more dance happening) I think she should take one of the Double Turns out of the routine and get some more choreography back in. She has 9 elements in the routine, so that extra double turn adds only .1 value, and will probably always get at least .1 deduction, which means it's doing nothing but hurting her.
@marythiccmas
@marythiccmas 3 года назад
Stiffness on landing is not a real deduction. And while the double tuck step is borderline on the meter metric, the step on the layout 1/2 is definitely a .3 step.
@Zuranthium
@Zuranthium 3 года назад
@@marythiccmas Stiffness on landing is a real deduction. It can also be described as "Hesitation during performance of element" or "Body posture fault". Her landing of the Double Tuck thuds a bit, there's a slight break at the waist and minor whiplash up through the neck, and she doesn't immediately present the landing. Compare her landing/step here to the landing/step on the Layout 1/2, where she is fully upright and fluidly goes into choreography with the arms and head. BTW, her legs aren't even a meter long. The length between her feet on that Layout 1/2 landing isn't longer than her legs. That landing actually very nearly looks like a planned, controlled step back - the kind that are allowable in NCAA and might be allowed in Olympic competition next quad too.
@marythiccmas
@marythiccmas 3 года назад
@@Zuranthium Bro NEITHER of those deductions means stiffness on landing. Body posture fault is with regards to chest being down on landing and hesitation means LITERAL HESITATION. What you described does not equate to any actual deduction in the code of points, and you are making shit up. Also, you seem to genuinely not understand what the length of a meter is, but I can tell you right now her legs are definitely more than a meter long. Just because it would be allowed in the NCAA deduction free does not mean that it's not a .3 step in the current code. It definitely is, and you're completely full of shit arguing otherwise. Please, read the code of points. I'm begging you. You very clearly do not understand how the deduction system works, and it shows in you misappropriating deductions to non deductible things.
@Zuranthium
@Zuranthium 3 года назад
@@marythiccmas The semantics you're attempting to argue are incorrect. The fact of the matter is that body form and control and finishing of elements is looked at in every aspect, whichever word you want to use, and there is an applicable deduction to take for the flaws I described. I've analyzed jumps for ages, and done them myself, I know how it feels and looks to land ideally, and can spot very quickly when there's an issue. Her landing had too much of a thud/hesitation for me and her body is factually much less upright than an example I even provided. RE: a meter - you seem confused about how long it is and how long a non-tall person's leg typically is. You can look up the typical measurements, and could also measure the space between her feet on video as compared to her body. Math doesn't lie.
@marythiccmas
@marythiccmas 3 года назад
@@Zuranthium I'm not arguing semantics. You're just full of shit and don't actually understand the code. NONE of what you're describing is a landing deduction, and at this point you're just throwing around fancy language to make it look like you know what you're talking about. You don't. Also, I'm well aware of what a meter step looks like in gymnastics. I've been watching it for long enough.

I had a 0.1 pause before the first tumble. Nothing on the first tumble (in real time I couldn’t see crossed feet). 0.1 pause before the second tumble. 0.1 step on Double Tuck. Excessive prep 0.1 and balance 0.1 on triple wolf. Excessive prep 0.1 balance 0.1 precision 0.1 on double wolf. 0.1 step on barani. 0.1 loss of balance on double front attitude. Nothing on double full. Nothing on switch ring. 0.1 precision/body shape on switch half (it’s almost a straddle). Apparatus deductions: 0.1 lack of variety in corners. I did debate taking for the second pause, but I think maybe because it came after dance instead of just squatting in a wolf position? Also I think her triple is fine she just pikes down a tiny bit at the end but not much at all.

I think if we judge like this on any other gymnast, we might see 5.0 Execution without a fall. I mean crossed feet on triple twist is ridicilous. Excessive preparation on her wolf turn is wrong. Her ring will not get any deduction. I saw some kind of this video and this chanel didnt deduct too much like this. So, I dont agree with this excecution breakdown.

For someone like her, she doesn’t need a difficult dismount. It’s changing in the next Code - but she’s right to do this here.

@@mattj5391 There have only been proposed changes for next quad; nothing is guaranteed. Also I'd rather see a clean C-skill or a 3-pass programme to close an FX than another flexed-footed double pike with leg separations which indicate that anything more difficult than that would only mean worse execution.
