Was it a bad game? No, although I wouldn’t say it’s a great game, either. But the game itself is one thing; the way it was marketed and presented is another thing entirely

Sonic 4 was IMO a lazy retitled cash grab. Sonic Mania is not 100% worthy of Sonic 4 titling necessarily, but it's a great game that offered a TON more than this one. Also in your opinion what are the best Sonic games available on PC? Top five maybe. And best, not necessarily personal favorites (like I saw that video that you don't replay Mania personally but would still say it's one of the best)

I personally think that both of these games are pretty good. Sure, they have their flaws, especially because they have the names "Sonic 4", but I think they have some legit qualities that can even compare to the classic games. I do like the music of both of these games, and also the gameplay a lot, too. Heck, they tried super hard to fix Labyrinth zone, and for the most part, I think they succeded. Also,the Special Stages are superior to their original counterparts. And, to top it off, I think that Episode 1 is better than Sonic 1 and CD, and that Episode 2 is better than Sonic 2. But this is my short version of the review I gave to these games. If you want me to elaborate, I'll do it, as long as you're civil about it.

Sonic 4 is what I call a missed opportunity. Yes, I think it's a great idea for Sega and Sonic Team to create a 2.5-D side scrolling platformer, similar to what Nintendo did for the New Super Mario Bros. games (and with Super Mario Bros. Wonder coming out later this year). But the way they went about it showed that they didn't have any idea how to make a sequel to Sonic 3 & Knuckles at the time. Mania was a really cool experience, but I can't really call it a true Sonic 4 6 years later, since it only had 4 original Zones and complete rehashes of classic Zones with a fresh coat of paint. That's why imho, Superstars looks more like a promising follow up to S3&K, and I love some of the ideas that Sega and Sonic team have used so far. It just feels fresher.
