This man really called Sonic Colors, one of the most visually distinct games I've seen, as well as something that has an unforgettable soundtrack, stage theming, and primary gimmick BLAND. If this is your definition of "bland" I'd REALLY hate to hear what you have to say on games that are less interesting than Colors. And no, bad is not better than bland. You know why these games are talked about still? Because they're so bad, they're hated games almost no one plays. But a "bland" game will still be picked up and enjoyed now and then. I get the argument, but Colors was NOT the game to use for this. If we were to say the STORY is bland though, I'd agree. Something like Forces or Sonic Superstars would have been better suited to this.
4 years late, but can't tell if this is meant to be serious with it being posted April 2nd. And you literally say at 1:54 they would be impossible to mistake for each other while Amy mistakes Shadow for Sonic in the game footage playing at the time. Maybe I'm just reading into this too much and I just got r/woooosh by April fools video.
The criteria feels too sterilized especially given where the franchise is going where the open zone is the new foundation, one of Kishimoto’s main goals is to make multiple playable characters a mainstay, etc. I feel like you should give them a game that sets the tone for what Sonic is then and now. And while I agree with Generations (especially with SxSG on the way), I feel like Sonic Adventure should be here since it sets the tone for the rest of the series even now. It’ll get people accustomed to open worlds with it being overwhelming, the Japanese stories which will deter a lot of xenophobia if that’s the standard made for them, multiple playable characters and 3D Sonic stages.
The things u said @WormsT17 about the Knuckles tv continuation of the Sonic films being terrible and unfunny I would have to disagree. Losing the will to live after watching this is like losing a soul to another realm or a contractor and that's kinda hard to say that. And the show being unfunny? The show (like the films) has some comedy and I did get a few good laughs out of it, especially from Knux. Also, it isn't anything boring. It is understandable it didn't set anything up for Sonic 3 but just because it didn't set up anything it doesn't make it boring. Also, calling it a Wade show is lie given that Knuckles there 40 percent of the time where he is already training Wade to b a warrior like him in the ways of the echidna. There's nothing that they can cut from the show, except the bounty hunters because I wish the main villains wouldn't come off as pointless. Jeff Fowler directed only the first episode and that's it because it is not what he wanted to focus on rather than the movies and the upcoming third one. U're gonna have to research more by looking at Twitter and other RU-vidrs who r defending this series talking about it and u'll see what I mean. But furthermore, I would have to disagree with u calling the show terrible, boring and unfunny and a wasted opportunity to continue the story of the films when it didn't need to b because u didn't have Fowler directing all the episodes. Another thing, people have to complain about Knuckles doing much because of Wade being the focus. Those were the same complaints people had with the first Sonic movie giving Tom and Maddie too much more screen time than Sonic. They wanted to make a simple road trip story so they'll b sure if those Sonic fans really wanted a Sonic movie so I don't see anything wrong with it as someone who never played the games until now.
Considering the treatment Colours Ultimate got, I assume the pre-rendered cutscenes in Generations (intro, Time Eater reveal, ending) are gonna be 720p at best (from the PS3 version). Hopefully not 480p like what X360 or PC got.
I have been trying to understand the character of Eggman Nega and how both iterations can be canonical with each other and this is probably the best theorized explanation of how that's possible. I know the two separate teams never intended for them to be connected, but considering they are this is a good way to do it. Though I think it would help to have another game to kind of bridge the gap . Also a problem though is nobody seems to remember who Eggman Nega is in either series.

Utopia has some of the greatest physics, collision, speed and map i seen in a sonic game, I wish Frontiers open zone was like utopia instead of having to rely on dash panels and springs
While I agree on Hover being better than Burst and Cube at the bottom (lack of mobility, slow attack speed and cubing only working on ground enemies), there are few moments to argue with. 1. Void's teleport is an ok repalcemend for Drill if you want a good offensive wispon so I'd put it higher. 2. Drill doesn't have to be good at offense when it lets you skip it. It's also easy to charge. You don't have to stand for seconds, just press the attack button three time and you're "dashing like a maniac". Drill has the most potential out of all wispons and gives the most freedom to the player. And here's the list: 7. Cube 6. Asteroid (a bit lackluster comparing to others) 5. Lightning (just use Void) 4. Burst (just use Hover) 3 and 2. Void (okay mobility and great offense) and Hover (great mobility and okay offense) 1. Drill
I am so happy that someone likes forces and doesnt roast it "because its forces". People just try to influence the others opinion by calling the game bad. I really enjoyed forces way more than colors and i find myself returning to it unlike colors. Both of the games are good in my opinion but i just like forces way more. Everyone can have an opinion but they shouldnt try to make the others have the same opinion
I don’t see Tails saving an entire island before he met Sonic considering the fact that Sonic is his inspiration and he gave Tails confidence so it should take place after Tails meets Sonic. I mean if tails could save/defend an entire island then how is he getting bullied for his two tails even though by what your timeline says, he could literally just drop a bomb on them or use some other gadget on them. Also although not being canon. Sonic Triple Trouble 16 Bit has a better plot and it makes more sense because Metal Sonic disguises as Knuckles which establishes his abilities to steal data for Sonic Heroes.
Trying new shit doesn’t mean anything if your game is designed horribly around these things. In spite of how little the game actually changed, this game is still easily one of Dimps’ Top 3 Sonic games, by having decent fundamentals. Advance 2 was a hold forward to win snorefest, that was a step *down* in design. Because of the vapid and fleeting level design with basically no platforming elements, there’s even less opportunities to use each character’s special abilities than Advance 1. Theres no incentive to do it to access alternate pathways 90% of the time unless you’re specifically looking for the special stage medals (which sucked), and then you never have to do it again. Otherwise, the default level design does NOT want you to do any of that, and insists you run forward like bullet train without any intent of stopping. They all play like the same damn character as a result. Sonic Advance 3 just threw set piece design out of the window, and would toss you into random hazards, like being crushed, spikes, and other dumb stuff. SA1 had a few moments like that, but not a lot. The level design was better than SA2 when it wasn’t suffering from Dimps’ level design syndrome. And the power system was super hit and miss. Some combinations are cool, and some kind of suck. SA3 needed more time in the oven. The Rush (Style) Games are okay. Colors is by far the best by having some interesting level design, in addition to having the wisps. Some consider it better than the Wii version. And it makes a good case for itself. I consider Advance 1 the best of Dimps. And Very few other games come close.
Sonic Advance wasn't made to push the series forward though, it was a simple handheld game made to introduce Sonic to Nintendo fans. Plus it was the first completely original Sonic game made by that team, so they likely wanted to get the basics down first before experimenting with their later games

There was this one kid that would hog this game in the game room, at this local Boys and Girls Club when I was younger. That was my first exposure to the Dreamcast version. It was beautiful. If only they would add these same mods to the gamecube version. The Chao Gameplay mod is a bit dangerous the last time I played on the PC version. They wander when walking, and it is easy for you to hit them accidently if they aren't fly following you.
idk maybe it's because it's like a billion times more accessible and maybe it's because a lot of people prefer to own the game legally rather than emulate it.
