Honestly yeah but 12 episodes was too little to adapt 11 volumes to make it worth the time. You could read the manga instead to feel like you didn’t have to wait x amount of years for a season 2.
i really enjoyed this video◡̈ i liked the last point you brought up about chainsaw man being more about the characters than the fights. i think this is pretty spot on, i love the explosive action panels as much as the next guy but i’m way more invested in how the characters will progress rather than the next devil denji fights
I agree. I was first introduced to the series through the anime and thought it was kinda mid and over-hyped. I had fun dont get me wrong, but i didn't get why people were going absolutely nuts over the series. It wasn't until i read the manga i realized how fckin amazing the series is. Seriously a masterpiece.
the reason people think it's overhyped is because they felt like it didnt give enough for all the talk it got. in simple terms, most people expected more than 12 episodes lmao. if it got the jjk treatment with 24 episodes then it would've probably been insanely mainstream.
Chainsaw man is still mainstream. Without the anime it was mainstream, the anime made it even more so. I don't know if you made it through the video but I spoke about the 12 episodes that we knew before the anime came out and how people thought everything was going to be adapted in 12 episodes.
Chainsaw man is all gold. It rivals the world's best literature out there. It's a serial modern equivalent of Don Quixote and Sherlock Holmes. The themes and sweeping take on human nature are Shakespearean in proportion.
In my opinion I feel like the anime made the series feel a little to mellow and dull. I really don't think the tone of the anime fits chainsaw man well.
Unlike JJK, the anime didn't elevated the manga in any artistic way. Its still good but to appreciate CSM, you really need to read the manga unlike JJK.
The world of chainsawman is so interesting because of how devils work so the “fights” aren’t really about the fight itself but moreso what are the consequences afterwards. I don’t get what people want from a an anime adaptation that can only cover so much at a time without it being overbearing to viewer or feeling rushed.
I think correct way to address it would be by saying "was the Chainsaw Man anime Season 1 Overhyped, in which the answer would be - YES. 12 episodes is simply not enough to explain what it really is all about. When this show will be complete with 3 seasons and probably one full movie, this overhype will be justified.
@@BeyondAnimation it wasn't useful to me as someone who actually read the manga before watching the anime. It's 4 minutes of "the manga sold a lot and was well received" which anyone that isn't a tourist already knows.
I didn't know half of the things in this video before researching it and I've read the manga if my channel and videos prior to this aren't apparent. Not many people look into the background stuff, we just read manga or watch anime. So it was certainly useful to me making this video so I'm sure other people would like to know it too
Lot of CSM manga fans overhyped CSM anime before even we get more info about anime. They made me think that after first episode I gonna love it. I felt cheated by them. Now say "is just start", "is just 12 episodes", "is gonna be better in second season" I wish fans say something like "is gonna be amazing, but you need like 24 episodes, because first arc isnt as good as others" or "CSM isnt for everyone like other popular series"
That's a possibility. As I said chainsaw man is a masterpiece, the anime doesn't do it justice even in the first arc, the Mangas rendition of the first arc is better imo
I like the first season because I know where it's going but damn people, just let them cook. It's like if I said One Piece is trash and I dropped it before Alabasta.
@@BeyondAnimation No, no. I'm not saying that's what you said. I'm talking about people who just said the first season was boring and over hyped. Even though it's not much of the story. I wasn't being clear.
Chainsaw man isn't good for the fights. The fights are good! but compared to others like JJK it's just a hack and slash fight. Chainsaw man peaks in it's characters, themes and dark nature.
I mean it is a battle shonen. It follows all the same cores of a battle shonen. There's power ups, transformations, a training arc, every arc is about battle. Battle shonen doesn't mean it's bad, it elevates the battle shonen landscape just like rurouni kenshin with its deep mature character writing and storytelling
I'm pretty sure I lay down why I think it's overhyped. 1. The extreme amount of hype for the manga prior 2. That all being placed on one season that doesn't adapt the full story when that first season adapts the weakest part of chainsaw man when isolated. It lay it out pretty clearly. This isn't me hating the anime, I thought it was alright. I've already criticized the anime and said it was fine that it was different from the manga. Still think the manga is leagues better, especially in color.
@@BeyondAnimation I mean yh the anime adapted the worst part of the manga of course people would be a bit let down most of the hype was for the events after the first season of the anime. Still I think the anime did those 12 episodes really well and if it maintains that quality to the next season and maybe a movie it’ll be great. Personally my week to week experience was also enhanced with the new ED’s every week that was a very cool addition. I loved the direction of the anime and I hope it continues
