I was really dissatisfied. I’m certainly less hyped about this show now. I am even no longer hopeful about the Hedge Knight. I don’t think Hollywood will do this story Justice. I think the storytelling in this episode was disjointed. The scene with Criston Cole and Gawain came out of nowhere😂. I felt like we missed a scene it something, The Alicent Rhaenyra scene felt like fan service- though it was acted well. It did a dis service to the characters and felt too easy that Alicent can just travel to DragonStone. The best moment was the Corlys scene. The actor finally got some meat served to him (though Aegon lost his as he relayed in his scene) and that scene between he and Alan’s actor delivered. The two of them worked off each other well and the writing in that moment felt like a good payoff.
I loved the episode. Honestly, not everything has to move very fast. I just think people are habituated with short content to the extent that they can't wait for things to be laid out.
I think it’s a great episode. I just don’t think it’s a great finale. It feels like the episode before the finale. Still very enjoyable though and I look forward to next season. - Cam

It takes criston and his folks like an episode or two to get from place to place like rooks rest, kings landing, and harrenhall. the stark folk took the entire season to get south just as they would in the og series. and dragonstone is like right up the block from KL. these things really arent major issues folks just have selective memory
I loved the episode but not as a finale. On it's own it's a strong episode but you can clearly see this season was written for 10 episodes. The season needed those 2 episodes to get to where it needed to be.
A bit of a rant! Tbh this season is great especially on a rewatch to binge it. I really loved this season way more than S1 and Daemon's plotline is certainly one of my favorites, sometimes seasons can be setups and it will pay off big time in the later seasons and that’s perfectly fine, and this wasn’t even that slow of a season, people love to complain about everything, this episode might feel weird as an ending but I don’t blame it on the writers because they were forced by HBO to cut the season to 8eps, and i think they did their best to make the story flow better, this season would’ve ended on a big battle but they cut it “budget reasons” so if anything this finale was great for what the season was about. So if the episode felt off that is the reason, not writing problems. I feel like people these day don’t appreciate slowburns, setups and payoffs and want all battles. This story despite having dragon it doesn’t have that much of battles and it’s all politics and dialogue, GRRM story has always been like this... And again there’s a difference between ACTUAL bad writing and writing choices you don’t agree with and i think people can’t see the difference because this is not a bad show, in fact they’re taking their time with it which’s GOOD! People hated S7,8 because it’s rushed but now they’re taking their time and setting up the story somehow this is bad and boring? This fandom is insufferable.
@@igoonx15 yesss, absolutely..it is a really good season. People do really lack the patience to see the board getting ready. The show isn't about dragons fighting but the fall of a dynasty. This season was basically trying for peace and seeing there's no way out but war. The inevitablity of it and the doom it is bound to bring to not only House Targaryen but everyone surrounding it. People have been acting like the small council folk who are dying to see war without weighing the consequences of it. This season shows us, the burden of the crown, the war and all of it.

If you think this is boring then if they stuck to the source beat by beat... this season would be three episodes and nothing is really happening other than rooks rest and the sowing, if anything they actually fleshed out the characters more, Rhaenyra in the book was literally in her bed crying and mourning Luke and that’s it, they're fleshing out the characters more so the story would be more affective. Like complaining about the show being “boring” and “unnecessary” is very odd considering this is a story by GRRM who wrote a story about politics and people talking, even with dragons there’s not many things going on especially the dragons don’t do anything major until half way through the story... very odd. I understand the criticism because this season flawed for sure but the fact people think this whole season is a filler is ridiculous. Like this will payoff big time later on and there’s more seasons! Like this is good that they’re taking their time and rushing the story
I like the changes they have made for the show, they have humanized the characters far more than what we get from the books, especially Rhaenyra (everything "bad" she did so far in the book was deleted entirely or given to another character), and I think that is going to make what is to come be intensely more dramatic for the viewers. I am not actually sure how people are going to receive all that will come ...... IMO it will be so much worse than anything the viewers went through in GoT. It will be glorious!
The people who likes to complain that this show is slow and boring are the same people who complained about the season 8 of Game of Thrones for being rushed... 😂😂😂
Great episode just superbly acted & written, the tension in every scene was bone chilling 😮 especially her and Alicent. I'm so glad the battle will come next season unlike GOT. Wonderful season 2
As a massive fan of the books I personally loved this season obviously I already know what happens and I know what happens with the stuff they left out but unlike most book readers I’m not big when it comes to complaining because most the book readers are big mad for absolutely no reason they know what happens now just enjoy the show for what it is and that we even got it at all
amen to that. I have tried to appeal this very thing, "hey, we have a story with believable dragons, on screen!!!" .. but some book readers would rather complain. I also like this season, and the ways they have framed what was said to happen in the books around detail that reveals something much different actually may have been going on.
I loved this season and I really enjoyed the finale. I thought it was important to continue to world build and character build and draw the battle lines for S3. My only disappointment was I wanted to see Rhaena claim that wild dragon. Ser Simon has become my favorite side character and I never would have guessed that Criston would become one of the goth characters from South Park. All in all a great episode and I can’t wait for S3!
I loved the episode, I just wish it was the penultimate episode instead of the finale. Rather than being build-up to a payoff, this season (which I did still love a lot, this is one of my few issues with it) felt more like build-up to more build-up. Daemon got a good wrap-up to his story, but the Rhaena thing drove me crazy where it's been hinted at for a few episodes now and we got almost no movement in that story. Every scene of hers after she finds out about the wild dragon is "Rhaena is wandering the wilderness looking for the dragon", over and over, and I'd have been fine with that if it led to a satisfactory conclusion (her claiming or ideally full-on riding Sheepstealer), but ending with her just catching up to the dragon without any actual interaction was what disappointed me. This felt like a great set-up for a fantastic finale, so I can say that I loved the season and loved the episode but that I'm only disappointed that there isn't a bit more to the season.
I think most ppl didn't get into GOT until it was in the last season, so had the privilege of binge watching. Most GOT season finales are them dealing with fallout from the previous (penaultment) episode & setting up for the next season. Not a GREAT finale but it set up alot & im excited
6:27 theorize and argue do not mean the same thing. i was gonna agree if you talked about the fights and how bad they were in s8 of GOT bc we were in DARK CLOUDS AND SMOKE during the dragon riding at winterfell. imagine meleys vs sunfire and vaygar but it was at night in clouds. that wouldve been atrocious
The whole season was quite boring. This is where GoT is untouchable. Had way more storylines and characters and there was always something happening. HoD pulled a fast one on us with this season and they better deliver in season 3 or there will be no season 4.
This was neither a good episode or a good finale. And the scene rhaenyra and alicent was one of the most stupid and unnecessary scenes. They need to change writers because they suck.
