I get your feelings, I really do, but I look at Mark and I see my field coordinator. This is the person in academic circles who "holds the purse", so to say. They have to dispose of the department's research funding, and it is the job of the academics in the department to convince the field coordinator that, yes, their pet project is worth the money and will pay up in scientific findings. I am not an archaeologist myself, but this is how things generally work in university research labs across the board (unless, of course, you have your own research grant, in which case you deal straight with your university bureaucracy... and that is sometimes worse). Sure - Mark is not an actual field coordinator, but he is still (on camera, at least) responsible for managing the show's resources, run-time, and final outcome in the field. So he has to be this sort of annoying asshat! It is his role to ask the nasty questions, shut down less thought-through ideas, and prioritise where the time and effort is spent. There is no nice way to reject an excited academic. It's a bit like kicking a playful puppy. You will always look like a dickhead.

@@saveusmilkboy You sound like this was her idea for a project though and she applied for funding or something like that. I would guess it's the other way around and the producer/s wanted a geologist to confirm if there are buildings at that spot. And if that's the case his interaction with her was very disrespectful and his stance towards her work extremely ignorant. At around minute 23:30 my jaw dropped to the floor and I thought I misheard (I'm no native speaker though so there is that). But isn't the premise that the geologist is there to confirm if at that spot were buildings or not and she is exactly doing that? After him remarking that she wastes time she tries to explain to him that the instruments work and even if she confirms that there were no buildings she is delivering the desired data... and he just repeats that her work is worthless if she doesn't identify an area for the trench. Undesired data is not worthless and she seemed stunned by his stupidity and disrespect.

These trading routes were not "established" by the Romans. The Romans established nothing, stole everything, and advanced brutality to heretofore unforeseen levels. Their fetishization in Britain is a holdover from Victorian imperialistic sensibilities. These trading routes had been in place since late Neolithic and early Bronze Age seminal seafaring times, and were used by the Atlantic cultures to trade with Nordic and Phoenician civilizations long before "Rome" was even a gleam in the eye of that pesthole's fratricidal founder.

The area of Cornwall has been archaeologically documented to have had multiple-era construction sites from as far back as the Stone Age, working all the way up to ancient British and Welsh (- 1000s CE), ... no Anglo-Saxons this far west, ... some possible Normans (1066-), very viable Templar (1100-1300) and monastic sites (500s-1300s) on the shoreline, then the Earl Richard of Cornwall construction of the Tintagel castle formations. Instead of using it as tourist attractions, get the willing people of the nation in study to inhabit the rebuild historical towns/places with the agreement that they live a life identical to the peoples back then during the visiting hours, to attract and inspire visitors. All whilst keeping good faith and kindness, without trespassing modern or all time laws. After visiting hours, the people living there for the "show", could start up their solar powered equipment and also promoting green echo friendly living. WIth all due respect, Tintagel castle was created in the 1300s. Any earlier construction site anywhere in England or Wales is ALSO not King Arthur (and Uther Pendragon) residency. The real site of Camelot, King Arthur, Uther Pendragon, Guinevere, the Holy Grail is Petra (Pendragon) of the Egypt Nile Delta and Red Sea shoreline (ancient Kmet land), Israel Eilat and Jordan Aqaba/Petra area. Khem-Eilat (Camelot) and Petra (Pendragon). This is the area of the First Christian Reich 69 - 600s CE. The christians fled before the Roman conquest of Judah-II - overthrew the Persian (Pharisee) Jewry. They are the ancestors (6 Arthurs, 6 Merlins, 6 Mordreds, etc) that lived and prospered along the Red Sea trading shores and the Petra valley that can hold up to 30,000 residents. It is here that the legendary Arthurius conducted an invasion of Rome (that can't be accounted anywhere from Britain, Little Brittany (Breton), or continental EURO. Admittedly, these people are British - along with other EURO nations that also comprised this Reich kingdom of first crusader proto-Scandinavians, -Germans, -Gaul/Franks, etc.

@@dwhite8997 The truth is that King Uther and Arthur were of Welsh and such SW Cornwall/Devon/Dorset/Somerset ancestry - doesn't disprove any statements. It is known that these highest rulers and the Pendragon Camelot entourage of their 69-600s CE period were a majority of western Welsh Christians, Celtic Christians, not Roman Catholic Augustinian conversions of the eastern Anglo-Saxons of the 500s CE. It is known that Petra can hold up to 30,000 people with over 200 rain cisterns and waterways. It is this portion of history, providing international Welsh/ancient British networks and colonies. Just as much as the French Outremer start of the 2nd Reich Crusades - that House of Boulogne was international. With Mediterranean trading around the entire Roman Empire period (and the British Isles), there is no dysfunction that the Welsh/British could also be part of the Mideast heritage. And having read and support Geoffrey's statements, he makes no direct statement of Arthur being on such and such specific landed city in Wales and SW Britain. You only have Welsh-ified and Olde Englishe-ified translated/transliterated names of what were Mideast locations - that others take as specific Welsh/British regions and towns. No one can validate that the ancestor of King Arthur (having Arthurius of Breton or British residency) ever has proven historical documents attacking and invading Rome from the WEST. Remove any Germanic Arthurius from the NORTH, and any African Arthurius coming from North Africa from the SOUTH ... only leads to ONE CONCLUSION. Within the period of 69-200s CE, Arthurius came from the EAST westward into the Roman Empire. The only area of that time that had any valid civilization (Egypt, North Africa, Britain, and surrounding Mediterranean (and Byzantine) that would be an invasive region. The only area comes from the ancient Pendragon/Petra region of Midian North Saudi Arabia.

Very interesting, but it does seem to push back against some good archeology.

King arthur like king david more likely more of a chieftain.than a king.the title of the king were bestow to them long after there death as a form of honor.

Top afternoon from Coast o Maine. Came-@lot was Real in Reality!, Grandson O Maximus, built nice crash pad atop lil hill outside Circus at Camuludunum!, The Fair in Fairy tales? Belongs to local Iceni lass, Gwen 2, who went around Britain restoring ancient places like Pharaoh Fiery hill!, a Acoustic hospital 2,000 years old when she rolled up her sleeves! The legend o White Dragon based upon Surviving Military of Atlantis, after flood relocated to Carribean, they had not lost tech, rigging ships for "Schooner $sails speeds x Atlantic yearly. $0 after 4 year term as Emergency Gov. Appointed by Constantinople!) Magnus grandson, got Hoodwinked Eye tell u( had to pay for ere thing they wanted, out of pocket!) Honorary "Bear Coat Guy" of the Celts left, dinna see themselves as ? Cornish, Welch, Scots? Saw themselves as 1 people. So u get name ? "k"ing Arthur, n Welch get Red Dragon not Brown Bear on their Flag?)))))))

Some lost tech to keep eyes out for? Tuning forks, tines of silver alloy, atop hollow tube, usually copper alloy, head high, n amber stuffed into base of rod. Provides pizeoelectric charge to the tuning forks, so what Tune? Anti Dog, Wild Hog, Soldiers Horses? Sonic fence around u Livestock? Olde as Atlantean Outpost on Eire!, once Up On Fiery Hill, by vitrification leveing surface of granite hill top, now insulates thin bands of gold in grooves like 3 esses x stone patio. It acts as battery, so amber can be placed upon gold n pick up static charges to act as battery for sonic fences!)

Fascinating show but very badly scripted: some often awkward and/or nonsensical statements. THEN... That guy tells the geophys gal that her time there was useless?! I don't know if they're doing that to create drama? If so, it was very weak, and it's a stupid statement scientifically. Negative information is still information! Just cuz it didn't give you the feedback you wanted it , you have gained more knowledge from it. It did give you feedback to tell you what you wanted isn't there. Hopefully her work plays out by the end of the show, I was so irritated by that, they had to jump in. Between the bad narrative writing and that moment I don't think I'll be watching this production/channel again. It became substandard.

Holy shit this is some horrible documentation. Cut the drama, it's just a 45° slope and you're on a rope!

This Mark guy is obnoxious. Maybe he'd be better off hawking his controversy with the National Enquirer. It seems to be more of his level of journalism.

The LEGEND of King Arthur is a bedtime story. It's not real, never has been, that's why it's called a legend.

They are constantly needing to be helped by an entire crew , rescued at times and have men do their jobs for them in half the episodes but I guess I see what you mean ? It clearly worked -- the producers placed women in the main roles hoping to get more female viewership because women tend to only want to watch shows which have some sort of representation of themselves ; sort of like how excited birds get when they see their own reflection .. their adorable tiny bird brains get all excited.

Worst archaeology show ever! Too few people doing actual archaeology and doing it poorly. As Phil Harding would say, not a single PROPER trench being dug.

When I see the female heavy crew that couldn't figure out how to get a sample of an old Roman road except in the most unnecessarily complicated way....I SKIP!
