The difference is we made content for ourselves and for other fans bc of our love of mk. We didn't do it for money or fame. We just posted what we thought was cool and hoped others liked it. We were content creators before it was a thing or had an official title. Hardcore mk fans are just that, fans. We loved mk and made mk content for other fans. If we got special stuff from Midway, it was bc we were huge fans and they liked our stuff. It wasnt bc we made videos full of lies sucking them off and putting things over that we knew sucked but shilled it so ppl would buy it. We also didn't get shunned for saying we didn't like certain things about the games. We didnt have to shill to be treated well bc they actually cared about the fans back then. Today, most ppl just make the shit hoping to get money, famous, special treatment, endorsements, etc. most thats "big" or well known today all started off doing other shit and then decided to keep up with mk bc it got them views. They're all just a carbon copy of eachother. They all censor their footage in the name of the all mighty dollar.
Great memories from Deadly Alliance / Deception & Armageddon. Great times good memories. I played a lotta classic MK as a kid but my best memories is MK DA & Deception. I went to Chicago last year and it was so cool. Didn’t get to drive past the Netherrealm Offices but it was cool to be in the same city as MK and plenty of Midway games were made. Ate deep dish pizza and went to galloping ghost arcade and seen a Blackhawks NHL Game with the wife. Good times

I dont think you was a shill for midway, and giving criticism about mk1 isn’t hate,it will only make the game better so the devs can fix the problems, but I don’t think everyone in the nrs RU-vid era is a shill I see some criticisms and they make tweets and videos too, but it can be apparent some people lowkey be signed with wb and be shilling too
nah, you're the man. You got guts for sticking to what you know/feel is best despite knowing you'll get backlash. Neatherealm did the impossible: they made mortal kombat boring. Its honestly quite a amazing achievement, didn't think it was possible but they did it. Is it any wonder the original era is seen as the shining light of the franchise?
there is this arms length distancing that is just the norm now back then there were events you could interact with the team you maximised your oppurtuniies and fortunately they were happy to talk to you and give you interviews this is how it should be, andin the last decade it really has all gone down the toilet, no life or soul or heart in the industry its just dead, so sad man but at leasts you got to experince that time period and record it that must be a great feeling to know you was there and made it happen, this is why you are a legened becuase these shills dont ever move from thier streaming chairs or go out of thier way for anything whereas you traveled half way round the world worked ya arse off for no pay displaying pure passion for something you love, that is rare. shills really are the bottom of the barrell they are mercenaries much like kano lol
That's because back then independent game companies like Midway, Acclaim etc still existed and they could do their own things. In 2000's most of these independent game companies disappeared and the industry became more and more monopolized and the big-corp mentality kicked in. The straight aftereffect of that monopolization was that game companies (which are now almost all in the hands of big-corp) became more and more out of touch with their audience.
