@@JoshSattinFarming I agree with everything she wrote -- all your work is so tidy, creative and well-organized, and that includes all the RU-vid videos you put out -- jam-packed with useful information and no extraneous filler! I also appreciate that most -- maybe all -- of the great systems you've put together are affordable for almost anyone to make, and not just costly commercial junk that's been provided by a sponsor which few people can afford to buy. You have -- by far -- the best channel on market gardening I've ever come across on RU-vid. Thank-you for the great content!

Perhaps as a spinner you could use some of the off grid hand or foot washer spinners? Or what about a salad spinner? For smaller operations. Like the Westinghouse salad express which is electric powered and has nice large slotted sides. Or the Dynamic Spinner, Greens Machine or Elgento. Just thinking outside of the box.

Another good topic would be how you keep everything clean and sanitized so as to prevent contamination. Do you use gloves, do you use soap to wash everything, etc. How do you clean all your trays and tools. Are you using organic products or fertilizers on anything? How do you deal with bugs that might get in your area? Are any specific bugs attracted to your Microgreen garden? And where did you get that amazing Screen or Mesh Spoon thing? Thanks for these great info. I want to grow my own greens mainly for my diabetic husband and to keep fresh greens on hand easily even during winter months so maybe they could be done in a barn or garage or even near a window in the house?

All that water going to waste! You should look into grey water recovery system. They are easy to build. Just another challenged in thing to do. Also it will save you on your water consumption since you'll be reusing this water your are throwing away; maybe in your crops. Hope you enjoy the suggestion.

Thank you for this incredible video! I have a small farm and we are in our second season and building a wash/pack area. Is there anything that you put under the drying rack to catch any water or debris that fall off when you tilt the drying rack down to clean it? I'll also be using it to dry root vegetables so might have more water drips than well spun greens. Thank you for your input!

the motor in the washer is not 3 phase, 3 phase is specifically for ag and industrial equipment, you wouldn't be able to power anything that was 3 phase in any normal house. it would require either an industrial or agricultural drop from the power grid. You may mean 220v in the US, but that is not normal for washing machines. it is likely that the motor has 4 wires going to it, and that one of them is a backfeed from the controller to your capacitor, which you need to get the tub spinning when it has weight. this video shows a conversion to a timer switch, and you can see what I am talking about at the timestamp linked. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-wqzfW4HvqUQ.html

I tip it over a bit then it collects on the bottom boards. A little bit of smacking the screen from underneath. Then I put that in a bucket or bin. Then flip it almost upside down and some more smacking of the screen and the last bits fall on the floor.

How often do you harvest your Lettuce. The lettuce that you planted in your beds do you cut the leaves off and let the lettuce regrow or do you uproot your lettuce. How much lettuce can you get from your 50 foot beds
@JoshSattinFarming
@JoshSattinFarming 4 года назад
It depends on the season. Summer time I plan for one cut. I usually can get 50 lbs. off of a 50 foot bed. I get several cuts off of the lettuce from fall through spring.

I don't set a timer. It really depends on how much is there and what the temperature and humidity is like. You'll know by feeling it and looking at it. I don't want standing water on it, but I want to get it off of their before it starts to wilt or dry out.

Terri Perry the spinner takes the bulk of the water off the greens. If you didn’t do that it would take forever to dry them with just the fans. Just look at your clothes when their done being washed they are soaked and dripping wet. If the didn’t get a spin cycle and you just hung them out to dry.

Yeah, it depends on the washer though. Usually you can't fit one of those baskets in there without removing the top. Some washing machine units have that big agitator in the middle too that would have to be removed.
