Hey Richard, cant believe I posted this a month ago, seems like about a year.. lol.. I do a bit of electronics, and found that the fault was caused by a blown 400V filter capacitor on the button panel on the front of the washing machine. Replaced the bad cap with one from a TV, and it has been perfect since... With regard to testing the pump, I find it a more comprehensive test to put a voltage across whatever I'm testing to see if it works under load.

Hi, thank you for a video that is right to the point and easy to understand. My pump measures 176, is that to high? It is not draining but the rotating fins are damaged so I want to know if I can only replace the rotating components and not the whole pump.

Sorry for the delay, I hope you found the answer, I wouldn't advise testing on a vice unless you know exactly what you are doing, electricity is not safe! Always need to have health and safety in mind. regards Richard the repairman

Hi Richard, I'd say you get that suit fairly dirty working on the washing machines.. :-) My pump measured 166 ohms so you were pretty bang on... I was gonna fix the pump in my vice and run a voltage across it to make sure it's spinning.. I can find the positive and negative as they are marked but they dont say what the voltage is.. Do you know?

The tech sheet for my washer says the pump is supposed to measure 12 ohms.

my pump reading is 16 ohms. Does that indicate a good pump?

@Richard Saupe, tested the problem pump with my fluke multifunction meter set on continuity reading 22 ohm's so bought a new pump tested that before install greater than 2000 ohms sent back got replacement so they say still greater than 2000 ohms does this mean what I think open circuit what should I do

my multimeter gave me 1680 ohms bought more expensive multimeter gave me correct reading
