As a fellow long-haired person who has washed their hair in a basin, I can imagine that the corset could give quite nice back support

I'm a chemistry student and yes eggs are really good to wash your hair, they have the same molecule as soap (tensioactif).

they also have protein and fat, which are also supposed to be good for hair - at least, that's what my mother used to tell me :)

Naturel, like it. I remember my mother back in 1955 washing her hair with a mix of EEG, vinegar, black beer (without alcohol) and it was beautiful. Back then we cut not buy shampoo- to be honest, I miss those days.

Wow what a mixture. I am trying to avoid shampoo and am testing natural ways to wash hair. Rye flour works actually very well ! And it is a strong washing weapon.

We are. It's fascinating! Modern American life is so, so individualistic. In contrast while growing up with the Asian side of my family, I always had my sister, mom, cousins, or aunts who would step in to help me wash my hair - the culture was very different!

@@IzzySaintOnge You can put water in a bucket and use a cup to poor water on your hair. In many cultures bading is a socal activity like scrubbing each other's back.

if you are sticking to Edwardian style, straining is the way to go. if not, I have used a blender to both emulsify and get rid of the odd chunks in eggs. I used to use this plus henna to wash my hair for years. never realized it was actually historical. thanks for the info!

How you use henna to clean hair ?????
@hotbxdkitty969

mix henna and eggs, put on hair for a few hours. rinse out with cool water. if your hair is dry, you can oil it first.
@chrynelson
@chrynelson 3 года назад
Anyone trying this: Don’t forget to wet your hair first! I tried this tonight, forgot that step, and had a lot of trouble spreading the mix through my hair, despite massaging as best I could. As a result, the back and sides of my hair are clean, while the front is still pretty oily! D:

Everything about this video is purely natural... eggs and lemons (not a bunch of branded chemical products being promoted) the natural environment (it looks like you are in a fairly land), armpit hair and that's why I love this woman, proud of you for being raw and People need to normalise these normal things to balance out the world that is changing nowadays.. Subscribing you, keep doing more videos 🐣🌳🌹⛅
@TheGabygael
@TheGabygael 3 года назад
lemon tends to be extremly drying to the hair but i think it might work well with the coating smoothing effect of the eggs (other recipes advise some essential oil, alcohol or cologne which are all very drying but then again hair was washed way less than nowadays, no need to because hair was tied up more often than not meaning you cannot put dirt into you hair with your hands when you play with it and whenever going out people wore hats (thats why we still covered our hair in europe after the renaissance, it was not longer for spiritual or esthetic reason but it was done for hygienic reason (mainly since the 18th particularly for the 19th century when the air in the cities got really polluted)

Thanks for the info dump! I didn't have time to go into extreme detail in this video unfortunately. Maybe I should do a video on my normal hair care routine - which enables me to wash my hair every two months, and still have lovely volume and no problems with grease or dirt.

@@IzzySaintOnge There is another woman who recently put out a video of how she historically washes her very curly hair, and it got over 24 thousand views. So, it would be very interesting if you would consider also doing a hair routine too, even if it is inspired by historical methods? You too seem to have been doing this for a while, and you have lovely hair. And I am rather curious about how you can go for two months! And do you still use the egg etc...and do you do any hair oiling or other treatments? So, if you would consider a video, I believe there are many out there now interested in this. I tried rye flour a while ago, but that was still when I washed my hair daily. And it was so much work! It took me a while to realize that covering my hair when I work outside and then finger combing, combing and then brushing work to clean the hair mechanically, and that is helping me stretch the time between wetting my hair to clean it. But, so far, I can only go to a week if I use dry shampoo and then my eyes itch. So, I am curious about how you manage two months! I cut my hair off a year ago because it was breaking, so I am very curious about these more classical & historical methods, as they may help more people like me with very fine hair that tends to break easily. All this said, I do realize that you may have other things happening in your life etc.... and wish you the best regardless, and am very happy to have found this current video.

Thanks for sharing. I was going to ask how often you washed your hair but I saw you answered in a comment - every 2 months? I’ll have to see if you did a video on your daily hair care. Also thanks for not being shy about sharing normal body hair (armpits). I don’t shave them regularly but I don’t wear sleeveless shirts 99% of the time. Shaving didn’t become regular until the mid-century, correct?? Thank you!

I have an every-day haircare video in the works! And that's correct! Razor companies started aggressively advertising shaving products to women in the 1920s, and it eventually caught on. Slower in Europe, I believe. I tried shaving for a few years and it just wasn't for me!

You could use a mug to ladle the water over your head so you don't have to lift the heavy jug. Also I wonder how well this would work for calf length hair - and could you replace the lemon juice with white vinegar? Do you usually wash your hair with this recipe, and do you use anything to condition your hair?

when my hair was very damaged from a chemical hair relaxer I used eggs washing to strengthen and revive my weak lack luster hair back to healthy hair . I didn't know that i was to strain it first even when I used cold water to wash it out I still got pieces of egg in my hair. That's why i stopped doing it, but now I will try your method because it is truly one of the best ways to wash our hair. xoxo

I have similar hair length and I noticed it works with 1 or 2 yolks only. I use water with apple cider vinegar or lemon juice to rinse tho. Or you could try to use 2-3 Tablespoons of honey (dilute with warm water so you can spread it through your hair). When I wash my hair, I use just enough to wash the scalp basically, when I rinse everything it runs through the lengths of my hair and that's enough for cleaning, the lengths don't get as oily as the scalp so it's not necessary to use a lot of 'shampoo'

My grandmother used to break an egg into commercial shampoo. I wish I could remember what brand it was. I wonder if it is still around, whatever it was. And that was interesting what you said about having someone help you shampoo your hair. There is a photo of Mary Pickford somewhere that shows her sitting at the bathroom sink and her maid helping her with her hair. Thanks so much for this great video! 💗🍃

egg shampoo is the wierdest whenever i shampoo my hair it feels dirtier than before, when it's wet it feels more damaged than before and when it's dry it's cleaner and more voluminous than before but it's coated as well (and it least tiny white sticky chewy specks in your hair that is apparently not cooked egg but the gunk being extracted from the hair) and your shower as well as the hair while it's wet will smell like wet dog (the smell goes quickly away on the hair but it takes longer for the shower)
@IzzySaintOnge
@IzzySaintOnge 3 года назад
Interesting! I have never had this experience before. I found that straining the eggs prevented the sticky gunk and that an egg/lemon shampoo felt gentler than modern shampoos and castille soap, both of which I have used. When I wash with egg I don't really use a shower, as I have found the faucet in a tub to be easier to use - I just kneel in the tub and rinse. I also use cold water - maybe that helps keep the smell and coating effects down.

Interesting! I'm amazed You could use castile soap for so long. I tried it and everything seemed great the first few times, then it turned my hair to straw. Have not tried eggs yet - the cold water part - I'm shivering just imagining that 😆
