the fact that the Buccaneers have been able to keep Evans and Godwin on the same team for so long, and they've both ate with a myriad of quarterbacks has to to be one of the most impressive GM accomplishments in recent memory
Let's not glaze too much. You don't pay a 24 year old receiver because you're worried what he's going to look like at 29, but let's do the deal later and see what he looks like by 30 or 31? I get being cautious but I wouldn't call that tremendous management. Tag him at 30 if you want.
Cleveland doesn't go after quarterbacks, they go after shiny things. Maybe they shoulod change their names to the "Cleveland Crows". Oh wait, that's Baltimore. And I'm from Cleveland.
that first touchdown catch by Mike Evans was insane. St-Juste was all over him and he just snags it anyways. definitely the most underrated receiver in the league.
@@alfredrutz7830 they always talk about Tyreek, Justin Jefferson, Chase, Lamb, etc. feels like they hardly ever mention Evans when discussing the best WRs in the league. PFF had Evans ranked as the 20th best receiver entering this season - behind Amari Cooper lol it's a joke
Cleveland is just fine, they already know because it happened last year. And they know that they are the kings of sticking it to themselves. They are desperately hoping this year will be different, but there's probably 5 teams that are going to be unbeatable for them this year and the next 3 years, so just sit back and watch them cry after every loss for the next 3 years.....
I loved what I saw from Baker today, pretty much what we saw from him last year, a man that leads by example and plays with heart as well as good football IQ. A 146.9 Passer rating is excellent, 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions with an 80% pass completion, this is how you start off a season. Fellow Bucs fans, I think we found our Franchise QB. Commanders Fans, Jayden Daniels did very well for a debut today, he is a dual threat in the rough. With some more experience and coaching you may also have found your future franchise QB. Anyone saying "it's just against the CoMmAnDeRs", realize they are a professional football team with more talent in their weakest player on their practice squad than you do in your entire family. The Commanders have a formidable defensive front, and they played a good game. If you underestimate the Commanders they will make you pay for it on the scoreboard, this was not an "easy win", the Bucs had to fight for it every yard.
The Browns found QB stability for the first time in decades and decided to let it go to a franchise who struggled with annual QB stability themselves for decades.
@@roy19491 and not having 3 head coaches and 4 new O coordinators in 4 years, and arguably the worst head office in the entire NFL. Lets not forget, the 3 head coaches, 1 was so bad he got ran out of the NFL, the other was a huge bust never to be seen again, and 1 thought that as a first year coach, after Bakers gets them a playoff win literally, going into his second year thinks hes better than every player on his roster and Baker needs to go!
@@flyguygsm8544Let's just be glad that Baker didn't give up on himself when he was wandering the desert from the Panthers to the Rams. He kept grinding while Deshaun sat back whining about his shoulder! Go Bake!
I don't think anyone said he couldn't play they asked can he be consistent! We can't see that until we see him play a number of games. So today looked good. We'll see.
Stuff like this is why removing the downvote tally was such a stupid decision. But, RU-vid wants money more than it wants quality. And there will never be enough money to change that stance.
I am Baker Sooner myself. I am Cowboys fan and when brown let baker go I want baker to Dallas to replace Dat because Baker is much better qb than Dat but my wish doesnt come. I am partly Tampa fan now.
@@ctcctc6126Bakers gotten as far as Dak in the playoffs and has as many playoff victories I think. Daks overrated, Baker's underrated. Got nothing to do with smoking rocks. Baker also plays through pain at his own risk.
Dak may be a better regular season QB, but he seems to have a habit of choking in the playoffs. One more 1 and out post season and I think Jerry Jones is going to reboot that whole offense.
Thank you Cleveland! Let Baker go through his growing pains there while we get Brady then scoop up Baker. Tampa has one of the best front offices in the nfl.
The Bucs front office did some excellent stuff in the past 5 years. They were one of the very few team to believe in old man Brady, convinced him, and got a SB out of him. Then Brady retired, and they immediately found a competent QB to replace him, skipping any kind of rebuild and going back to playoff and even winning a game. And now they have a very good deal with Mayfield, who is balling, is confident, and has very good chemistry with the best receivers and running back on the team. It's hard to win in the NFL even when you draft a world class talent, let alone when you don't and you have to do with free agents and trades.
I cant say enough about mayfield. been watching him since he walked on at oklahoma and this dude simply never gives up. when it fell apart in cleveland then he got shipped to a horrible carolina team, so many people counted him out. SO glad to see him on a competent team again where he can showcase his skills. Its funny how his haters are just dying for him to fail and be out of the league but he just wont go away. This bucs team looks very good early in the year.
Jayden Daniels actually looked pretty good. His receivers got little separation and he barely even got to have the ball to drive down the field. The Bucs were so dominant on offense. He had 3 scoring drives, but two missed field goals should have made it 5. And he had what, 6-7 total drives in this game?
They need a better secondary. There’s was no ball hawk attitude at ALL on defense from them and if they continue to play that way it’s gonna be a really long season
He went 17 of 24 for 190 yards, 70%. He only had 6 drives to work with because Skins couldn't get Bucs off the field. 190 pass yards 90 rush yards on 6 drives on first start is good. Caleb williams went 14 of 29 sub 50% for 93 yards. 3.3 YPA. Bo Nix also had 3.3 YPA. Jayden was 7.8 YPA. You're not assessing this correctly.

That was some of the best QB play I have ever seen. Deadly accurate, no mistakes, coming up in big moments, working with legs and the arm. Washington may be be great but it is still an NFL team and Baker played near perfect
As a Washington fan, I’m still glad to see Baker doing well after what’s he’s been through, but keep in mind we are probably bottom 5 in defensive talent lol. Don’t get carried away yet!
He's showing why he's worth 100 mil/3 yrs. Good dead all around + we signed Evans and Wirfs. Great front office work. Free agent destination. That's a Brady benefit.
The Browns front office got ADHD and couldn't let Baker heal and GROW INTO HIS PRIME YEARS! Either that, or Haaslam never really cared since he wants a new stadium.
@@komitkazihonesty, 30M a year for a competent QB is a steal in today's NFL. Dak gets 60M/y, Daniel Jones gets 40M/y, Deshaun got 46M/y, I'd rather have Baker than all 3....
Baker was *perfect* today. But let’s not forget to give Tampa’s new offensive coordinator a lot of credit. His play calling and scheming was top notch.
There is nothing I dislike about the Buccaneers. Great management, they respect their players and keep them on their team. Both Mike Evans and Chris Godwin are elite yet humble WRs in their position, and Baker Mayfield's comeback story in the making is something truly heartwarming, he's gonna be their QB for years to come!
Im a Washington fan, but i will give Baker his respect. I've been roothing for him, obviously not today but he played well just wish it was against another team.
Mayfield/TB are off to🔥 start. 24-30 289YDS 4TD 0INT and it seems like he's enjoying his new home since coming to Tampa last season. I could actually see them winning the division, but they do have to worry about NO and possibly ATL. Very interesting matchups when they come. Congratulations on the win TB 💪.
The ATL looked like SHT today. An 18-10 loss and it would've been worse if Fields..........hey, he got them in FG range 6 times (kinda) 3 50+ yarders but it was brutal for Falcons fans.
Take it slow my man it took licht 6 years of drafts to get the roster a bowl. Success doesn’t come in the first season. This roster isn’t much different than last year and yall gotta rebuild. That’s from a bucs fan
Jayden Daniels just like Caleb Williams just need time to understand the NFL and how quickly the game is played. My biggest worry about him is he needs to protect himself. He so agile and quick with his feet that he becomes susceptible to injury
Man if commanders had a defense they can be a threat the offensive pieces are there just need more time together and maybe 1 more WR ..and OH boy the bucz are exactly what Mayfield needed he is balling without a doubt , helps with the vets he got around him.. should be a fun season for both these teams ! Also man Daniel's is very explosive when he decides to scramble
The fact that daniels looks more calm and composed in the pocket than daniel jones(year 6) is crazy. What pocket awareness from this kid. Giants shoulda got this kid.
This game gave me OU Sooner Baker vibes. Also he had multiple passes with ridiculous accuracy through tight coverage, nice to see a WR core making those clutch catches
That dude can't be running around like that every time a play breaks down. Guaranteed to shorten your career. I have seen a lot of good quarterbacks in the past that didn't play as long as they could have. The Buc's needed this win as a good warmup for whoever comes next. If they keep playing sound, solid, mistake free football, 2 - 0 is in sight. And just keep building on that momentum.
Agree completely, downright embarrassing. Also, the way he took the two TDs, rather than letting the others have a chance is a bit egotistical. I'll take 6 wins this year if we're lucky. You guys looked very good.

@@DL-fl5ul congratulations you have a running back at QB he threw two times to his number one target and the most catches on the team was by a backup running back with 4 catches. You wanna talk bo nix at least he looked down the field all game long and gave his team an opportunity to win Daniels did non of that i also don’t think daniels knows that footballs a team sport
@@getwreckednerds6433 not all about the win.. we in the beginning stage of a new regime.. all we wanna see is Jayden get better week by week and build off him in the years to come !!
I’m a chiefs fan so I have no reason to be bias but Baker will be a top 6-7 QB this year. In a tier with guys like Stafford, Dak, Herbert, Stroud etc. he’s a top 2 leader in the league, as tough as nails, insanely accurate and very smart. People forget just how dominant he was at OU. 2017 OU had the best offense of all time. Yes better on offense than 2019 LSU they just didn’t have a defense. They put 50 on UGA in the playoffs who had the #1 defense. Baker has been elite the whole time. Went crazy his rookie year then 2 years later, because he’s tough as nails he plays through a bad shoulder injury and struggles so Cleveland ships him out to the panthers. Struggled at the panthers but even Mahomes would struggle in Carolina. Balls out for the rams and ends up in Tampa and just threw for 4k, 30+ TD’s, and less than 10 picks last year. Put some respect on Baker. There’s not 5 QB’s I’d take over him and that take won’t be that crazy here in a few weeks. Don’t forget he was a play away from beating mahomes in 2020 as a 2nd year QB in the playoffs and Cleveland might just have won a superbowl if they won that game. Don’t be surprised when Tampa wins 12+ games with Bake at the helm.
Jamin Davis should have been the player but the new coaching staffs are as bad as last years. It seems like the players are sleep walking thru the game.
That throw to Mike Evans at 3:05 is absolutely disgusting. What a dime. It seems like Tampa is the place where Baker fits, finally. Jaylen Daniels honestly didn't look too bad, all things considered. I feel like once he gets more playing time, he'll make strides.
I mf respect baker hated how he was treated as a jets fan wish we had the privilege to drafted him he may have still would've been on jets I believe and making playoffs
I can't remember the last time i saw Tampa Bay with a run game and solid goal kicking. If we can sort out this defense they could be sneaky good this year.
Wow Baker really thrives under Tampa. You can tell he is a complete different player from couple years ago, which he was shipped around. He is comfortable and having fun. Tampa's team is really in good shape
